The Department:

The HR Department at Vauxhall Manufacturing Luton is responsible for developing objectives and policies in respect of employment, training and employee development, for the Company. It provides complete HR support to all business units in relation to the above.

The Role:

To provide support to the HR Advisors and involvement in the development of new processes and procedures in relation to career development and job grading structure at Vauxhall Luton Plant with some exposure to recruitment and selection activities.

Required Skills:

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to use their own initiative and show motivation to get the job done. They must be able to demonstrate good communication and problem solving skills. A good level of computer literacy, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, is also necessary as it is used frequently.

Key Responsibilities:

 Assist with the development of the Undergraduate programme. Raise awareness and work with Unit Managers to identify future opportunities for placements. Prepare job specifications and liaise with GMUK HR. You will also be supporting managers with assessment centres for the undergraduate’s role.

 You will be responsible for all HR activities for the Quality department. This department has around 70 hourly and salaried employees and you will cover all HR aspects from absence, disciplinary & grievances, performance management and recruitment.

 Training administration, including management of Training Centre room booking database and issue of certificates and licenses as required, scheduling training courses for plant and assisting with Plant Annual Training Plan submissions and development of content.

 You will act as a Workplace of Choice champion and be involved with activities to improve engagement and commitment amongst the work force.

 Monitoring the Plant Long Term absence list and dealing with Statutory Sick Pay and Company Sickness Benefits issue.

 Compilation of data monitoring for the Plant for BPD and HRM Meetings.  Running of weekly and month overtime reports.

 Monitoring of vacation usage.

 Provide support for HR Advisors as required.

 Support the Communications Co-ordinator with the organisation of the Plant events and community projects. The undergraduate will gain a solid grounding of the overall HR function in a medium volume automotive production facility. They will develop many skills and they will be given an opportunity to use their initiative and put forward new ideas.

Required Skills:

 Excellent communication and organisation skills are required, along with the ability to develop relationships with line managers and other site personnel. Individual must be customer focused and have an excellent level of Computer literacy. A full driving licence would be beneficial.

 Undergraduate should have the ability to prioritise well.

The Department:

The Employee & Organisational Development Department at the Ellesmere Port Plant is responsible for the training and development of all employees. The department deliver and co-ordinate training courses and are responsible for recruitment and selection. They are responsible for the career and organisational development of individual and other Human Resource issues.

Key Responsibilities:

 Designing and carrying out presentations for undergraduate recruitment at universities across the country.

 Planning and coordinating the undergraduate recruitment process for Ellesmere Port. This will include screening application forms and administrating psychometric tests.

 Design and facilitation of undergraduate assessment centers.

 Development, organisation and facilitation of the Undergraduate Open Day and Induction Programme.  Administering the Undergraduate Appraisal Scheme.

 Coordinate and manage work experience programme throughout the year.  Design and facilitation of Apprentice recruitment.

 Education Links e.g. attending Industry Days, Career’s Conventions, etc.  Support with general external and internal recruitment.

 Support Organisational development with all training activates and needs, including management of the Ellesmere Port training centre.

The trainee should hope to gain an understanding of the Human Resource Management process and the role of recruitment and training in a large organisation. They will develop many skills and they will be given an

opportunity to use their initiative and put forward new ideas.

The Role:

To actively support the HR Team in achieving business goals by providing a focused support service to the management team.

Key Responsibilities:

 Run the day to day audit and compliance processes for the HR department including: - Payments and allowances

- Time and attendance - Fixed asset tracking

- Report on audit states and action plans to management

 Generate reports on payroll and time and attendance issues to give management and trade unions visibility of the business metrics e.g. absence levels, vacation tracking etc.

 Run the off boarding process for the plant to ensure that employees pay and company assets are properly accounted for when they leave

 Support projects such as STEM and SIM

 Support supervisors, managers and the trade union in outstanding audit requirements and give system training to improve capability

 Deliver training to new starters/existing employees to ensure clear and up to date communication of policies and practices

 Running standard reports of payroll and HRM use  Conduct sample checks for HR and staff meetings  Conduct a weekly time and attendance audit

 Support Global Business Service (GBS) in data and analysis

 Offer administrational support to Plant Personnel Manager and HR Manager

Required Skills:

Excellent communication and organisation skills are required, along with the ability to develop relationships with HR Professionals across the region. The individual must be customer focused, able to work with others and independently, confident and accurate in numerical work and have an excellent level of computer literacy, particularly in the use of spreadsheets. Time management skills and being able to prioritise is essential.

Business/Managerial Studies with a Personnel/ HRM Element.
