Description of Major
The undergraduate student majoring in Food and Nutrition Science is usually preparing for an advanced degree with
specialization in Food Science or Nutrition and a career in university teaching and/or research, medicine, the food industry, or government. With proper advising, this program can also serve as a pre‐medical curriculum.

Admission Requirements to Major Program of Studies
As a prerequisite for entry into each undergraduate major in the department, students must achieve a grade of “B‐“ or higher in HUN1201. Students must complete at least 52 hours of credit with a minimum grade point average of 2.0, at least half the required Liberal Studies hours including English and mathematics, or an A.A. Degree.
Major Program of Studies at FSU: 82‐85 hours
A grade of C‐ or higher must be earned for all required courses. A course may not be retaken more than twice (for a total of three attempts.) Students who earn more than 5 unsatisfactory grades in courses required for the major, at FSU or elsewhere, whether or not repeated, will not be permitted to continue in Food and Nutrition Science. Students must achieve a minimum GPA of 2.5 in order to graduate.

Description of Major
The undergraduate program in philosophy is designed to enable students to gain an understanding of the substantive issues philosophers have struggled with through the ages, and to develop their abilities to engage in critical examination and evaluation. The program serves as a basis for professional training in other fields, such as education, law, politics, religion or journalism; or as preparation for future professional training in philosophy. The department participates in the Honors Program as well as in the undergraduate and graduate programs in American Studies, Asian Studies, Humanities, Political Science, International Affairs, and Religion. The student’s program is planned in consultation with the department’s Director of Undergraduate Studies, taking into account the student’s academic and career interests and goals.
Prerequisite Coursework: none
Although the courses are not required for admission into this program, it is recommended that students take several philosophy courses with PHH, PHI, PHM, or PHP prefixes.
Requirements for graduation in the College of Arts and Sciences include: a minimum of six hours each in written
communication, humanities, and natural science, and three hours each in history and mathematics. These should be completed as part of the general education/Liberal Studies program. In addition, students must complete a foreign language through the intermediate (2220 or equivalent) level.
