Oct. 29 vs. Atlanta - Hawks 99, Magic 85: Joe Johnson led five Hawks in double figures with a game-high 25 points, as Atlanta defeated Orlando, 99-85, at a sold-out Amway Arena. It was the season opener for both clubs. Josh Smith tallied 17 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks and four steals for the Hawks, while Flip Murray added 14 points off the bench. Dwight Howard recorded 22 points, 15 rebounds, five blocks and five steals for the Magic and Mickael Pietrus netted 20 points. Orlando struggled from the field, shooting 36.8 percent and connected on just 4- of-25 from three-point range. The Hawks led 26-13 and by as many as 19 points during the second half.

Oct. 31 @ Memphis - Grizzlies 86, Magic 84: Rudy Gay poured in a game-high 29 points, including the game- winner as time expired, as Memphis edged Orlando, 86-84, at FedExForum. O.J. Mayo netted 17 points in his home debut for the Grizzlies, while Marc Gasol chipped in with 10 points. Rashard Lewis led the Magic with 23 points, including 19 during the first half, while Hedo Turkoglu tallied 18 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Orlando led 55-43 at halftime, but struggled mightily in the second half. The Magic shot 25 percent (9-of-36) during the second half, committed 10 turnovers and were held to just 29 points. After an Orlando turnover gave Memphis the ball back with 1.9 seconds left, Gay took the inbounds pass in the corner and nailed the jumper over Keith Bogans as the buzzer sounded, giving the Grizzlies the win.

Nov. 1 vs. Sacramento - Magic 121, Kings 103: Four players had at least 20 points for the Magic, led by Dwight Howard with 29 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks, as Orlando beat Sacramento, 121-103, at Amway Arena. It was the first win of the season for the Magic, snapping their brief two-game losing skid. Rashard Lewis tallied 26 points, seven rebounds and a team-high six assists, Hedo Turkoglu netted 21 points and Mickael Pietrus added 20. Kevin Martin led the Kings with a game-high 31 points. Orlando led for most of the game, but didn’t start to pull away until late in the third quarter. The Magic shot 55 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Kings, 40-28. Drew Gooden paced the Bulls with 21 points. Orlando led by as many as 17 points during the second half, and by 11 points with 3:48 left, but could not put Chicago away. Ben Gordon hit a jumper with 23.7 seconds left to trim the Magic lead to 93-92. After Lewis hit one-of-two free throws, the Bulls had a chance to tie, but Gordon’s off-balance jumper was off the mark. The Bulls still would not quit, as Andres Nocioni attempted a three-point shot at the buzzer, but it fell short and the Magic escaped with the win.

Nov. 6 vs. Philadelphia - Magic 98, Sixers 88: Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu both recorded 20 points and eight rebounds, as Orlando defeated Philadelphia, 98-88, at Amway Arena. It was the third consecutive win for the Magic. Jameer Nelson had 16 points and nine assists, while Dwight Howard, who was plagued by foul trouble, had 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Thaddeus Young led the Sixers with 19 points. Orlando led for most of the game, jumping out to a 30-16 advantage after the first quarter and by as many as 23 during the second half. Philadelphia trimmed the deficit to 80-74 with 8:38 left on a layup by Louis Williams, but it would be as close as the Sixers would get. The Magic held Elton Brand to just six points and the Sixers overall to 37.9 percent shooting from the floor.

Nov. 8 vs. Washington - Magic 106, Wizards 81: Dwight Howard recorded season-highs of 31 points and 16 rebounds, as Orlando routed Washington, 106-81, at Amway Arena. It was the Magic’s fourth consecutive victory. Mickael Pietrus netted 18 points for Orlando, while Keith Bogans chipped in with 13 points off the bench. Nick Young paced the Wizards with 20 points. The Magic dominated from start to finish, never trailing in the contest and leading by as many as 29 points. The Magic shot 50 percent from the floor and held the Wizards to just 39.2 percent shooting.

Nov. 10 vs. Portland - Blazers 106, Magic 99: Three Blazers scored 20-or-more points, led by Brandon Roy’s 27, as Portland defeated Orlando, 106-99, at Amway Arena. The loss snapped the Magic’s four-game winning streak. Steve Blake had 20 points for the Blazers, while Travis Outlaw also added 20. Hedo Turkoglu led all scorers with a season-high 35 points, while Dwight Howard recorded 29 points and 19 rebounds. Portland led 36-28 after the first quarter and 55-54 at halftime. Orlando fought back and led 73-72 heading into the fourth quarter. However, the Blazers opened the final stanza with a 15-2 run and took control of the game, despite 15 points in the period from Turkoglu. Portland only committed six turnovers during the game.

Nov. 12 @ Oklahoma City - Magic 109, Thunder 92: Dwight Howard recorded his first career triple-double with 30 points, a season-high-tying 19 rebounds and a career-high 10 blocked shots, as Orlando routed Oklahoma City, 109-92, at Ford Center. All five starters scored in double figures for the Magic. Jameer Nelson tallied a season-best 17 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, while Mickael Pietrus also netted 17 points. Jeff Green led the Thunder with 25 points. Oklahoma City was without Kevin Durant, who missed the game due to an ankle injury. Orlando led from start to finish, exploding for 71 first half points and held as much as a 32-point lead.

Nov. 14 @ Dallas - Magic 102, Mavericks 100: Rashard Lewis scored a team-high 23 points, including the go- ahead free throws with 10.9 seconds left, as Orlando overcame a 15-point, second half deficit and defeated Dallas, 102-100 at American Airlines Center. It was the first win for the Magic in Dallas since Dec. 11, 1997 (100-90) and snapped a 10-game road losing skid to the Mavericks. Jameer Nelson netted 21 points for Orlando, while Mickael Pietrus tallied 20 points and nine boards. Josh Howard paced Dallas with 25 points and nine rebounds. Dallas led 56-46 at halftime and stretched its lead to 15 points during the third quarter. They led 83-72 early during the fourth quarter, but allowed Orlando to get back into the game. The Magic tied the game on a Pietrus three-pointer with 3:04 left and took a 96-94 edge after a Nelson jumper on Orlando’s next possession. Trailing 102-100, the Mavericks had one last chance, but Jason Terry’s 12-foot jumper was off the mark and Orlando escaped with the win.

Nov. 16 @ Charlotte - Magic 90, Bobcats 85: Hedo Turkoglu led all scorers with 20 points, as Orlando completed its three-game road swing with a 90-85 victory over Charlotte at Time Warner Cable Arena. The Magic went a perfect 3-0 on the trip. Mickael Pietrus scored 18 points, while Rashard Lewis added 17 points. Dwight Howard was held to four points and seven rebounds, but did record five blocks before fouling out. Gerald Wallace scored 19 points to lead the Bobcats. Both teams struggled from the floor, with Orlando shooting 43.8 percent, while Charlotte shot 43.2 percent. The Bobcats led 43-38 at halftime, but were outscored during the third quarter, 27-18. The Magic finally iced the game on a three-pointer by Keith Bogans with 1:45 left in the contest. Tony Battie was solid off the bench, adding nine points, a team-high-tying seven rebounds and two blocks.

Nov. 18 vs. Toronto - Magic 103, Raptors 90: Rashard Lewis, Jameer Nelson and Hedo Turkoglu all scored 22 points each for the Magic, as Orlando defeated Toronto, 103-90, at Amway Arena. It was the fourth consecutive victory for Orlando. All five starters scored in double figures for the Magic. Chris Bosh led all players with 40 points and 18 rebounds. Orlando trailed 26-21 after the first quarter and faced a 10-point deficit midway through the second quarter. The Magic closed the first half with a 16-6 run and tied the game at 45-45 at halftime. Nov. 21 @ Indiana - Magic 100, Pacers 98 (OT): Dwight Howard scored 24 points, pulled down 17 rebounds and blocked five shots, helping send Orlando home with its fifth consecutive win, 100-98 in overtime, over Indiana at Conseco Fieldhouse. The Magic trailed by seven to start the fourth quarter, but Orlando outscored the Pacers, 21-14 in the final period to force the first overtime session of the year for the squad. Howard, the league’s leading shot blocker, rejected Rasho Nesterovic’s attempt down low as time expired in regulation, then came through again at the end of overtime, altering the shot of T.J. Ford in the closing seconds of the extra period to secure Orlando’s fourth consecutive road victory. Jameer Nelson and Rashard Lewis also turned in solid performances for the Magic, as Nelson tied a season-high with 22 points and nine assists while Lewis poured in 23 points to go along with a season- high six steals.

The loss snapped the Magic’s five-game winning streak. Tracy McGrady and Rafer Alston each netted 17 points for the Rockets, who had five players score in double figures. Jameer Nelson paced the Magic with 21 points, while Rashard Lewis added 18 points, but was 6-of-21 from the field. Orlando shot just 40.7 percent from the field and was 7-of-27 from three-point range.

Nov. 24 vs. Milwaukee - Magic 108, Bucks 101: Dwight Howard recorded 24 points, 13 rebounds and six blocked shots, as Orlando defeated Milwaukee, 108-101, at Amway Arena. Nov. 26 @ Philadelphia - Magic 96, Sixers 94: Rashard Lewis nailed the game-winning three-pointer with 4.7 seconds left, as Orlando edged Philadelphia, 96-94, at Wachovia Center. It was the Magic’s fifth consecutive victory on the road. Dwight Howard had 21 points and 14 rebounds for Orlando, while Tony Battie netted a season- high 20 points and tied a franchise-record, going a perfect 9-of-9 from the field. Lewis finished with 19 points, including 5-of-10 from beyond the three-point arc. Elton Brand led the Sixers with 21 points. Orlando led by as many as 12 points during the first half, but let the lead slip away and trailed by as many as six points during the fourth quarter. It was Orlando’s sixth straight road win, one shy of tying the team record for longest road win streak. Hedo Turkoglu had 20 points and a season-high 10 rebounds for the Magic, while Anthony Johnson dished out a season-best 12 assists. Orlando led from start to finish, jumping out in front, 38-25 after the first quarter and never looked back. They led by as many as 23 points during the second half. The Magic recorded a season-high 26 assists and committed just 11 turnovers.

Nov. 29 vs. Indiana - Magic 110, Pacers 96: Dwight Howard tallied season-highs of 32 points and 21 rebounds, as Orlando defeated Indiana, 110-96, at Amway Arena. Clippers – Magic 95, Clippers 88: Celebrating his 23rd birthday, Dwight Howard tallied his second straight 20-point/20-rebound game with 23 points and 22 rebounds, as Orlando overcame a late deficit and defeated the Los Angeles Clippers, 95-88, at STAPLES Center. Howard also notched six blocked shots for the third straight game, the first time that has been done in franchise history. Rashard Lewis scored 18 points for the Magic, while Jameer Nelson added 15 points. Baron Davis led all scorers with 27 points. Orlando trailed 48-42 at halftime and 75-66 after the third quarter. The Magic took control during the final stanza, opening the frame with a 22-2 run and outscoring the Clippers during the quarter, 29-13. Dec. 12 @ Phoenix – Suns 113, Magic 112: Grant Hill scored the game-winning layup with 2.3 seconds remaining, as Phoenix edged Orlando, 113-112, at US Airways Center. Steve Nash, Amar’e Stoudamire and newly acquired Jason Richardson all scored 21 points to lead the Suns. Dwight Howard led the Magic with 19 points, but missed the majority of the second half due to a sore left knee. All five Magic starters scored in double figures, including Jameer Nelson and Keith Bogans, who scored 16 points each. Orlando trailed 85-73 with 1:00 left during the third quarter, but would not quit. The Magic stormed back and took a 112-11 advantage, as Hedo Turkoglu nailed a jumper with 9.9 seconds left. Phoenix answered on its next possession, as Hill cut back door and took a perfect pass from Stoudamire for the reverse layup. Orlando had one last chance, but Lewis’ attempt was off the mark.
