5.2 Planning and Conduct of Test:

a) The time table and sample test paper for the test should be displayed minimum 10 days before the test.

b) Each test will be of 25 marks.

c) First test should cover about 40% of curriculum and second test should cover at least 41% to 80% curriculum.

d) Format for question paper should be as per the sample question paper supplied by MSBTE.

e) Guidelines for Setting Class Test Question Paper:

 Question no.1 Attempt any three out of four (3X3=9 Marks)

 Question no.2 Attempt any two out of three (2X4=8 Marks)

 Question no.3 Attempt any two out of three (2X4=8 Marks) 5.3 Details about conduct of assignments:

 For giving the assignments the class should be divided into batches according to the roll numbers of the students.

 All the students should be asked to keep one separate pages/note book for the assignments

 After completion of the topic one assignment should be given on that topic to each batch of the students separately.

 Preferably, the assignments should cover all the sub topics of the topic.

 More number of numerical should be given in the assignments.

 To save the time the assignments should be displayed on the notice board of the department

 Assignments given must be checked regularly and feedback should be given to the students.

 Appreciate the students who shows the assignments regularly.

5.4 Strategies for Conduct of Practical:

5.4.1 Suggestions for effective conduct of practical and assessment:

 Subject teacher shall prepare laboratory planning (D2) format in duplicate. One copy of laboratory planning (D2) shall be displayed on Laboratory/Departmental Notice board for student’s information. Subject teacher shall conduct practical as per planning and assess regularly.

 Display the given data of each experiment in the laboratory.

 Display the chart of all Instruments which are required for the practical of Electrical Engineering

 At the beginning of the semester, Lab assistant and Subject teacher should check and ensure that the equipment’s required to conduct practical are in good working condition.

 Practical should be conducted using standard calibrated instruments.

 Teacher should refer the guidelines given in laboratory manual.

 Teacher should make the students aware of instructions given in the laboratory manual.

 Teacher should motivate the students by taking activities on related contents in theory and practical.

 Teacher should give the instructions to students regarding proper handling of Instruments/machines/devices etc, safety precautions while performing the experiments.

 Experimental set up with sample reading (Expected results) should be prepared by the concerned teacher before the commencement of each experiment.

 There should be one revision practical so that students can grasp the content thoroughly.

 Teacher should assess the students on the basis of his/her participation and performance in a group during practical as per MSBTE norms.

 Teacher should assign marks out of 10 for each practical as per CIAAN.

 If any students got less marks then motivate such students to obtain more marks by giving proper feedback.

 Teacher should display assigned TW marks for practical as per CIAAN.

5.4.2 Details for conduct of practical Laboratory Hours (120 minutes) Utilization

1 to 15 minutes: Ask the students to read clearly contents of this expt. in manual.

16 to 30 minutes:

 The faculty should explain the aim, objectives and importance of this experiment

 Form groups of students as given in the Laboratory Manual to perform the practical

 Explain the safety rules &precautions to be taken during practical performance.

 Inform about the equipment, instruments to be used in experiment with their ratings & specifications.

 Ask students to select the range of meters for measurement from the data given in the experiment

 Explain the students about care to be taken while taking the readings to maintain accuracy

 Discuss the procedure to conduct experiment and calculations after measurement.

Discuss the procedure to draw phasor diagram after readings 31 to 60 minutes:

 Conduct the expt. at expt. Table in presence of faculty & assistant.

 Apply following procedure

 Keep ready all necessary meters & instruments on expt. table.

 Ask the student to do the connections as per circuit diagram.

 The faculty/ the lab assistant should check the connections.

 In presence of faculty/assistance student should take different readings as per the procedure given in manual.

 Complete the observation table.

61 to 90 minutes:

 The students should complete the further procedure.

 They should draw necessary phaser diagram, to the scale on graph paper.

 The student should show the calculations, phaser diagram, and result to teacher.

91 to 120 minutes:

 The teacher should check the expt. written student in manual/file as per MSBTE rules.

 The expt. to be checked by faculty would be either expt. perform in previous week or of same day.

 Enter the marks of checked experiment in progressive assessment book.
