The Organizing Committee h a s met s e v e r a l times s i n c e i t s incep- t i o n i n June, 1973. Because of t h e d i s t a n c e s r e p r e s e n t e d by members, it h a s been d i f f i c u l t f o r t h e e n t i r e committee t o meet, b u t we
have been keeping i n touch with each o t h e r , Hans Burndorfer, Van- couver, t h e most i s o l a t e d member, having been brought up t o d a t e on s e v e r a l occasions,

August, 1973.
The Committee agreed t h a t t h e most c e n t r a l and probably most tour i s t i c a l l y a t t r a c t i v e c i t y f o r t h e conf e r n c e would be Piontreal and t h a t e i t h e r June o r August, t h e most p r a c t i c a l month t o hold it.
There was some d i s c u s s i o n with r e g a r d t o t h e I n t e r n a t i o n a l Nusic Council meeting t o be held i n Canada i n October of 1975. It was agreed t h a t because of wishes a s expressed through i t s S e c r e t a r y General, Harald Heckmann, t h e meeting would have to be held a t a d i f f e r e n t time and under s e p a r a t e auspices.
Preliminary d i s c u s s i o n s were held with r e s p e c t t o t h e budget r e q u i r e d , b u t everything seemed superfluous u n t i l W i L ' s e x p e c t a t i o n s were f u l l y known,

S c h o e f f e l h a s been advised of t h i s change and of t h e new Loard of t h e A s s o c i a t i o n .
On June 4, 1974 a t a Eoard meeting of t h e U n i v e r s i t y of Toronto P r e s s , f u n d s were r e l e a s e d f o r p u b l i c a t i o n of t h e Catalogue and an announcement was rvade r e g a r d i n g t h e subsidy from t h e Humanities Research Council. I n mid-June, Lynne Jarman signed t h e ' P u b l i s h e r s Agreement Form' and a s s i g n e d t h e r o y a l t y r i g h t s f o r t h e p u b l i c a t i o n t o t h e A s s o c i a t i o n .

"unseenn items, i.e. items found i n c a t a l o g u e s o r r e p o r t e d through correspondence.

This dramatic i n c r e a s e i s due t o t h e f a c t t h a t t h e National L i b r a r y ' s I~iusic Divi- s i o n was a b l e t o a s s i g n some tenporary summer s t a f f and some r e g u l a r s t a f f t o t h e t a s k of c o n p l e t i n g t h e d a t a s h e e t l i s t i n g of i t s e n t i r e c o l l e c t i o n . L i b r a r y which i s continuously up-dated.The time has come t o consider t h e f u t u r e of t h e completed d a t a s h e e t s . A t p r e s e n t t h e r e a r e two l i m i t a t i o n s : t h e r e i s only a unique s e t and t h e approach i s by composer only (and, of c o u r s e , t i t l e f o r anonymous compositions). There i s a c e r t a i n amount of cross-ref eren- c i n g , t o d e a l w i t h pseudonyms, j o i n t a u t h o r s h i p , o r works by f o r e i g n composers arranged by Canadians. The f i r s t shortcoming could be overcome by t h e production of microcards. However, t h i s would l o c k t h e a l p h a b e t i c a l order: a l l d a t a s h e e t s added l a t e r on would have t o be f i l e d s e p a r a t e l y and i s s u e d a s a supplement, o r the e n t i r e microcard s e t would have t o be replaced p e r i o d i c a l l y . It would be f a r b e t t e r t o computerize t h e p r o j e c t so t h a t m u l t i p l e approaches would be p o s s i b l e , e.g. under name of p u b l i s h e r , year of p u b l i c a t i o n , musical medium, name of poet. 14e have received an informal o f f e r of this kind from t h e ~ n i v e r s i t 6 de ~ m n t r 6 a l ' S riuscad 2 p r o j e c t t o i n t e g r a t e our d a t a s h e e t s i n t o t h i r p r o j e c t of computerized informa- t i o n s t o r a g e on Canadian music.
