Baptism: Fir st Saturday of the month at 1:00 PM. Parents must come to the Rectory with the with child’s original birth certificate at least one or two months in advance. Instruction is held on the Monday before the Baptism at 7:00 PM. For more information please contact the Rectory.

Pentecost
Pentecost brings about the promise of Eternal life – a life of unity in Heaven. Indeed the initial sentence of the First Reading gives us this insight: “When the time of Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. (Acts 2:1-11)” There will be a time, at the com-ing of the Lord, that all those who trusted in his Word, will be united like a great family in the Kingdom of God. He wants to stay with all his children and He wants them to stay with him, precisely as we heard last Sunday: “I wish that where I am they also may be with me.” At the end of these Fifty Days of Easter, now the time comes to accept and welcome the Holy Spirit – the time of Pentecost is “fulfilled.” This is also the day in which the Catholic Church was born. Today as then, every single diversity of ours be-comes the harmonious Body the Risen Lord. So much so that, once the disciples received the Ho-ly Spirit and preached the Good News, all listen-ers were amazed: “are not all these people who are speaking Galileans? Then how does each of us hear them in his native language?” In this day the Spirit of Christ is poured out on the face of the earth, and God wants also to renew in us the Holy Spirit we received at our Baptism. The Ho-ly Spirit unfolds human pride – the pride man manifested when he constructed the Tower of Babel. Pride prevents us from understanding our neighbor: on the contrary, we use the other through pride. Pentecost is the Day in which we desire to empty ourselves, so that through the Holy Spirit, we may be one with God and grow in humility. On the day of Pentecost the Trinity is fully revealed. Today too, the Lord wants to re-veals himself to you, through the Holy Spirit, as you listen to the word of God at Mass!

La Solemnidad de Pentecostés nos lleva a entrar en la vida eterna, ya desde ahora. El Paraíso empieza cuando una persona es una sola cosa con Dios. Creer que por el Espíritu Santo Dios desea unirse a su creatura es creer en la Palabra de la Pri-mera Lectura de hoy: “El día de Pentecostés, todos los discípulos estaban reunidos en un mismo lu-gar.” El Espíritu Santo se manifiesta en la asamblea de los feligreses. La Solemnidad de Pentecostés para los Judíos se celebraba cincuenta días después de la Pascua. Correspondía con el tiempo de la co-secha; pero su sentido era de agradecimiento a Dios por los Diez Mandamientos. Para nosotros es la fiesta en la cual Cristo, por medio del Espíritu, vive en nosotros: solamente en esta manera podemos cumplir los Mandamientos de Dios. Para nosotros esto es el día natal de la Iglesia. Hoy como ayer, todas nuestras diversidades de hábitos, idiomas y culturas vuelven ser como antes de la dispersión de Babel. En efecto, cuando los discípulos recibieron el Espíritu Santo, anunciaron la Buena Nueva a to-do el munto-do. Los que escuchaban se sorprendieron porque’ decían: “¿No son galileos, todos estos que están hablando? ¿Cómo, pues, los oímos hablar en nuestra lengua nativa?” ¡En este día el Espíritu se derramo’ sobre la tierra, y Dios quiere transformar-nos a su imagen hoy, no mañana! El orgullo, que se manifestó con el deseo del hombre de quitar a Dios su trono por la torre de Babel, es sanado por el Es-píritu Santo en la Pentecostés. Los Cristianos están en comunión no por la justicia, no por cosas socia-les o por batallas varias: solamente son Cristianos si están unidos por el Espíritu de Cristo. Si tu cree hoy que Dios te amas y acepta la historia de salva-ción que Él está haciendo en tu vida, entonces reci-birá el Espíritu de Dios Hoy.
