Excellent story line. This narrative is more than a recount of the life of a Afro Puerto Rican woman surviving maneuvering through poverty, racism and the patriarchal powers that rule Puerto Rican society. It looks deeply into these acute and transparent social injustices and its impact on all the characters of the stories. I particular like the way the non linear time line that exalts the story. I saw everyone of my Puerto Rican mothers and fathers through each of the characters. I will be reading more of Maryra Santos-Febres' work. See all 6 customer reviews...
