This model of instruction ensures that students respond best to tutorial session topics and content as they directly align to that student’s specific needs and prevent frustration or embarrassment that the student may face in the classroom or larger group setting. Services in the A+ In Home Tutoring program take place primarily in the student’s home preventing the need for transportation on behalf of the parent. While the parent/authorized adult must be present for the entire tutorial session, offering the convenience of in-home tutoring and the opportunity to set their own schedule directly with instructional tutor prevents unnecessary cancellations and allows sessions to be conducted consistently for the student. consistentemente para el estudiante. Outreach Statewide Free One-On-One Tutoring = Academic Success In school, nothing feels as good as academic success! Academic Link Outreach is a non-profit organization that helps students meet and go beyond state standards, graduate from high school, and be better prepared for college and the workforce. Jan Link, ALO Director, was a teacher, curriculum director, elementary and high school principal. This experience and knowledge will facilitate planning, implementing, and evaluating an educational program that fits the needs of your child. Our passion is helping students achieve success in school so that they can enjoy success in life.

To accomplish this, ALO offers one-on-one skill-focused tutoring to individual students in reading, mathematics, and writing. Instruction focuses on the Common Core skills necessary for successful

classroom learning. These skills will provide greater understanding of all academic subjects. The key to better academic achievement is increased motivation, quality instruction, and more time for additional

practice. We will communicate with the classroom teacher to make a plan that meets the needs of your child.

All teaching incorporates the Common Core Standards. In reading, we teach word recognition, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and reading fluency. In math, we teach and reinforce what the student is learning in the classroom, strengthen skills not yet mastered, and prepare students for the next grade. In writing, we teach sentence and paragraph structure.

Materials used for tutoring complement classroom learning and the testing expectations of the state’s Smarter Balance Test. Instruction is provided after school, evenings, weekends, and breaks. Services are offered at school, in the home, or in a community place of your choice. We come to you. Our goal is to meet the needs of students and parents.

Students are able to complete math problems with full conceptual understanding, and who not only pass tests, but have learned how to overcome study barriers and are able to study more independently and therefore, be less dependent on a teacher for help. At the beginning and periodically throughout the tutoring process, students are reassessed to pinpoint any academic weaknesses and to mark the progress they have made in the tutoring thus far. Tutors work with students individually when possible and in small groups.

Learning gaps that prevent students from succeeding in school are repaired through activities that engage the student from many

modalities including the use of - modeling in clay, demonstrating ideas with objects, using new words and practicing skills.

All instructional materials are provided. Each month the tutor sends a progress report to the parent and a parent-tutor meeting can be held on a weekday evening or Saturday when needed. Our tutoring program is delivered after school, on week-ends and throughout the summer. We will tutor at the student's home, community centers or libraries.

Brain Hurricane, LLC Statewide BRAIN HURRICANE MAKES LEARNING FUN! We provide one-on-on, online, and small group instruction using Android Tablets and hands-on learning resources for both reading/ELA and math. We employ engaging constructivist activities where students use creative and critical thinking skills to address content. Since the 2001/02 school year, BH has served more than 30,000 academically and economically disadvantaged students.

BH has consistent and reliable data to demonstrate increases in student achievement. University of Wisconsin conducted a study on all SES providers delivering services to students in the Chicago Public Schools. Brain Hurricane was one of only three providers to make a ‘high impact’ on student achievement.

Students begin the program with a pre-test that is mapped to

Washington curriculum standards. The test specifically identifies which content areas the child is performing poorly in so tutoring sessions can be individualized.

After developing learning plans, each student is given a workbook. Each instructor has an instructor’s edition. LEP/SWD modifications are written into the framework of the lessons. Each hands-on lesson has a corresponding materials and manipulatives bag that is housed in an Education KitTM (which each instructor is given and trained on how to use). Additionally, instructors may engage students with adaptive

electronic content from BH’s online database. All learning activities are scaffolded and require students to master core skill sets before

advancing to more complex concepts. Instructors use observation and embedded assessment to measure students’ mastery of concepts. If students are unable to successfully complete all of the tasks in a learning activity, their instructor provides them with alternate activities from our archives that address the same skill set.
