LAKEWOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT DRESS CODE FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Dress code enforcement begins at home. Parents/guardians have the primary responsibility of making sure their children understand and adhere to the Lakewood High School dress code, and arrive at school appropriately dressed and groomed.

The dress code described below cannot fully predict all circumstances. For that reason, the principal or designee reserves the right to determine whether a student’s dress is appropriate for the educational environment. Specific dress accommodations for religious reasons will be made.

CLOTHING

 SKIRTS AND DRESSES must be no more than 4 inches above the knee at all times.  SHORTS must be no shorter than the length of the middle finger when arms are held at

sides

 Must cover shoulders and back.

 No sleeveless, off-the-shoulder, halter, strapless, tube dresses or tank top dresses are to be worn

 Should not be excessively tight; no spandex dresses, skirts, shorts are to be worn during the school day.

PANTS

 Spandex pants/capris (leggings, jeggings, yoga, etc.) are to be worn only with shirts, skirts, shorts.

 Ripped pants, jeans or clothing that show an excessive amount of skin is prohibited.  Must be worn at natural waistline and not expose undergarments’ of any kind.  No pajama pants

SHIRTS

 Must cover shoulders and back at all times. Sleeveless tops, off-the-shoulder tops, tank-tops, halter tank-tops, and tube tops are prohibited.

 Low-cut tops (that expose an inappropriate amount of cleavage) and shirts that expose the midriffs (at any time) are prohibited.

 Clothing (jewelry¸ accessories etc) that display obscene profane, vulgar or lewd words, pictures, symbolism, messages, designs or double-meaning slogans will be prohibited. (i.e. indicating violence, sex, alcohol, substance abuse and/or use, weapons, slander, or affiliation with any gang associated with criminal activity).

 All clothing that is see-through (including fishnet fabrics or fabric that is too thin) is prohibited.

 Clothing shall conceal undergarments at all times, including shorts, boxers, bra straps, etc. Undergarments are never to be worn as outer garments.

 No pajamas of any kind are to be worn.

 Bandanas are prohibited at all times.

 Outdoor jackets and coats are not to be worn indoors except when entering or leaving the building.

 Any item of clothing (or jewelry) which depicts bias symbols or hate messages or is intended to harass, threaten, intimidate or demean an individual or group of individuals because of sex, color, race, religion, disability, national origin or sexual orientation and which, in the judgment of the administration, has substantial risk of creating a material disruption to the learning environment and/or school operation shall be prohibited.

FOOTWEAR

 No slippers. All shoes must have a hard sole.  No shoes with wheels

 Sneakers are the only approved footwear for Physical Education classes. HEADWEAR

 Such as hats, hoods, scarves, etc. are not to be worn in the building during school hours (except for religious reasons)

GLASSES

 Non-prescription sunglasses, glazed and tinted glasses except as prescribed by the pupil’s doctor are not to the worn indoors.

OTHER ITEMS

 Chains, cables, or other accessories which could be used as weapons are not to be worn.  Body adornments, including but not limited to, body piercing jewelry which may

jeopardize the safety and well being of the student or others are prohibited during designated classes.

 Robes, blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, etc. are not to be carried during the school day and will be disciplined according to dress code.

DRESS CODE PROCEDURE AND ENFORCEMENT

When a student violates the dress code, he or she will be asked to change his or her clothing when necessary. Each violation will be documented and written documentation of the

violation will be sent home. If a student refuses to change, it will be viewed as insubordination and will result in further disciplinary action. Parents may be contacted to supply appropriate attire if needed.

Students who violate the dress code are subject to disciplinary action.

Codigo de Vestimiento para los estudiantes de Lakewood High School Grados 9-12

El enforzamiento del codigo de vestimenta empieza en la casa. Los padres/guardianes tienen la

responsabilidad primaria de asegurarse que sus hijos entiendan y se adhieran a las reglas de vestimiento de Lakewood High School, y asegurarse que sus hijos lleguen vestidos y preparados apropiadamente. El codigo de vestimenta descrito no puede predicir todas las circumstancias. Por esa razon, el principal o designado se reserva el derecho de determinar si el estudiante esta vestido apropiadamente para el medio ambiente de la educacion. Specificos alojamientos por relijion seran hechos.

ROPA

 VESTIDOS Y FALDAS no pueden ser mas de cuatro pulgadas altos de la rodilla en todo momento.  PANTALONETAS no pueden ser mas corto de la longitud de el dedo mayor cuando los brazos

estan estirados.

 Las camisas tiene que cubrir toda la espalda y los hombros.

 No es permitido camisas sin manga, enceniando los hombros, ni sin tirantes.

 La ropa no puede ser excesivamente apretada. Vestidos, pantalonetas, y faldas apretadas no seran permitidas.

PANTALONES

 Los pantalones apretados/ capris (leggings, jeggings, yoga, etc.) solo seran aceptados con camisas, pantalonetas, y faldas.

 Los pantalones rotos, jeanes, o ropa que muestre piel excesivamente son prohibidos.  La ropa tiene que llegar a la cintura natural y no exponer ropa interior de cualquier tipo.  Pantalones de pijama son prohibidos.

CAMISAS

 Tienen que cubrir la espalda y los hombros en todo momento. Las camisas sin manga, enceniando el hombro, sin tirantes, es prohibido en todo momento.

 Camisas de corte bajo (que demuestran inapropiadas cantidades del cuerpo) y camisas que exponen diafragma a cualquier tiempo son prohibidos.

 Ropa (joyas, accesorios, etc.) que se muestran obscenos profanos, vulgares, y/o palabras malas, fotos, simbolos, mensajes, disenios, o doble significados de todo tipo son prohibidos. (i.e. indicando violencia, sexo, alcohol, abuse de sustancias, armas, afiliciones con gangas asociadas con actividad criminal).

 Toda ropa transparente (incluyendo medias de rejilla o fabrica delgada) es prohibido.  La ropa debe ocultar ropa interior en todo momento, incluyendo pantaloncillos, calzones,

bracieres, etc. Ropa interior jamas seran prendas de vestir exteriors.  Pijamas de ningun tipo se pueden usar.

 Bandanas son prohibidas en todo momento.

 Chaquetas ni abrigos seran acceptabla adentro de el colegio. Solamente cuando entren o salgan de la institucion.

 Cualquier articulo que contiene simoulos de odio, acoso, amenazamiento, intimidad, o degradan algun tipo de grupo de individuos por sexo, color, raza, religion, disabilidad, origin natural, o orientacion sexual y que, en el juicio de la administracion, tiene sustancial riesgo de crear distrupcion al ambiante de educacion y/o operacion de el colegio sera prohibido.

ZAPATOS

 No pantuflas. Todos zapatos tiene que tener suela dura.  Ningun zapato con ruedas.

 Zapatos tenis son el unico aprobado para las clases de Educacion Fisica. OTROS ARTICULOS

 Cadenas, cables, o otros accesorios que se pueden usar como arma son prohibidos.

 Adornos de cuerpo, incluyendo pero no limitado a, joyerías piercing del cuerpo que pueden poner en peligro la seguridad de los estudientes tambien son prohibidos durante los clases designados.

 Tunicas,cobijas, almuadas, animales de peluche, etc. no se pueden cargar durante el dia de colegio y seran disciplinados conforme al codigo de vestimiento.

SOMBRERERIA

 Los sombreros, capuchas, bufandas, etc. son prohibidos durante las horas de colegio. (excepto por razones religiosas)

GAFAS

 Las gafas del sol no recetadas, cristal y de colores, excepto según lo prescrito por un doctor son prohibidos adentro de el colegio.

VESTIR PROCEDIMIENTO Y APLICACION DE CÓDIGO DE VESTIMENTA

Cuando un estudiante viola el codigo de vestimiento, cuando sea necesario, el/ella tendra que cambiar su ropa. Cada violacion sera documentado y escrito documentacion de la violacion se mandara a la casa. Si el estudiante se niega a cambiar, sera considerado como insubordinacion y resultara en una acción disciplinarian. Si es necesarrio, los padres pueden ser contactados para suministrar ropa apropiada. Los estudiantes que violan el codigo de vestimiento son sujeto a una acción disciplinarian.
