Purpose of this document
The purpose of this document is to provide guidance for Classroom Management part of Intel® Education model usage, lesson ideas and main features set up to support you as a teacher on the use of classmate PC in your classroom.

Classroom Management part of Intel ® Education is a tool that enables a virtual environment in which teachers and students can collaborate and interact using correctly the technological resources available in the classroom for school purposes.
Thanks to this application and the use of the school network, the teacher creates and manages a virtual classroom in which students are connected to interact and share information through a series of activities guided by teacher-assisted instruction, promoting a collaborative work and learning.

Getting started
Main menuClassroom Management is a class leading training software solution, providing teachers with the ability to instruct, monitor and interact with their students either individually, as a pre-defined group or to the overall class.
How to start the application Classroom Management tutor
1. Click on Classroom Management tutor console icon to bring up the Welcome wizard.
2. Select an option to deploy Classroom
Management to your Classroom or Network; or, click on Start button to create a new class.

After installation the client program is automatically loaded on the student workstations as the operating system starts up.

Allows screen monitoring on several student machines simultaneously.
File transfer
Enables sending files to a group of students.
Internet Co-Browse
Allows a teacher to open selected websites and synchronize this with the browser on each Student PC.
Instant messenger
Opens a discussion topic among groups of students.
Remote Control
Watch, share or control the screen, keyboard and mouse of any student workstation in the class.
Interactive whiteboard
Provides a series of graphic tool as teacher aid.
Control access to USB, CD and DVD devices
Prevents data from being copied to or from USB devices and CD/DVD drives.

Minimize
When you click the Minimize button, the window appears on the taskbar as an icon. To restore the window again, just click its taskbar icon.

Maximize/Restore
The Maximize button is in the same location as the Restore Down button; this button changes its name to one or the other, depending on whether a window is reduced in size or maximized. When you click the Maximize button, the window fills the screen. When you click the Restore button, the window reduces to its size prior to being maximized.
●
The control window is the primary interface on tutor’s computer that allows establishing a connection to the student workstations; select the student workstations to work with, and the task to carry out.

The Menu bar contains a series of drop down menus that can be used to access the various tools and configuration utilities. The menus options change according to the selected view.

The Tutor Toolbar provides details of the current lesson to the tutor and access to key school functions when the tutor program is minimized. How to start a new class
1. In the Class wizard dialog click on Start button.
2. Enter the lesson details: a. Teacher name. b. Lesson title. c. Objectives.
d. Outcome.
e. Ad-hoc room.
3. Configure the time for lesson in What time does this lesson finish or check the Open lesson box.
4. In Connect to click on New button to create a new connection.
5. Select a Startup Mode:
a. Room mode.
b. PC mode.
c. User mode.
d. Browse Mode.
6. In the emergency dialog Enter the name of the new room.
7. Click on Ok button.
8. Select the new connection and click on Select button.
9. Click on Power On button to turn on all computers when connecting by Room or PC names.
10.Select the Startup Options if required: a. Create a journal.
b. Create a Student Register. 11.Click on OK button.
The startup mode
Room Mode. Allows you to group computers by room, or allow students to join a room as required. Ideal for a teacher or student that moves between rooms with their laptops.
PC Mode. Allows you to create and connect to a fixed list of computers. Ideal for use in a permanently wired room.
User Mode. Allows you to create and connect to a fixed list of students (by logon name). Ideal when students bring their own (or shared) laptops to class.
Browse Mode. A simple mode that browses the local network and connects to all available students. (Wildcards can be applied).
How to refresh the list of students
1. In the toolbar click on Manage class button.
2. Click on Refresh button.
How to end the current class
1. In the toolbar click on Manage class button.

How to prompt students to login
1. Click on Student Register icon in the toolbar.

3. In the Student register dialog select the information that students will be required to complete.
How to show the registration report
1. Click on Student Register icon in the toolbar.
2. Click on Registration report button.
How to sign out
1. Click on Student Register icon in the toolbar.
2. Click on Sign out button.
3. Confirm the Sign out process clicking on Yes button.
At the end of a lesson tutor can reset the student names using the Sign Out option. By the way, student registration and printer usage details can be viewed in a report but this will be lost when the tutor’s workstation disconnects.

How to create a new group 1. Click on Group menu. 2. Click on New.
3. Enter the Name and Description for the group in Add a group dialog. 4. Click on Next button.
5. In Group Members dialog, select a student from Available clients. 6. Click on Add button. Repeat these
steps to add all the desired students into the group.
7. Click on Finish button.
A New tab will be added to show the group that has been created and the students who belong to it.

2. In the Show suspended dialog, choose an action:
a. End. Ends the show and releases the students’ screens and keyboard.

c. Continue. Suspends the show, students’ screen and keyboard will continue locked. This option lets tutor to continue working in the background without students seeing his screen.
