Nació el año 295 en Alejandría. Logró una gran formación en filosofía, gramática, teología y el idioma griego. En el 318 fue diácono y nombrado secretario del Obispo de Alejandría. Hacia el año 323 surgió la herejía del arrianismo que niega la divinidad de Cristo. Se difundió de tal forma que se tuvo que organizar el Concilio Ecuménico de Nicea, al que acudió el Obispo de Alejandría con Atanasio. En este concilio se fijó claramente la fe de la Iglesia, promulgando el Credo de Nicea y se confirmó la Excomunión de Arrio, el hereje. En el año 326, Atanasio fue ordenado sacerdote y escribió varios libros: “Contra los paganos” y la “Encarnación del Verbo”. Al morir el Obispo de Alejandría, él fue elegido su sucesor. Pero ante el acoso de los arrianos, el emperador organizó varios concilios menores por lo que San Atanasio fue continuamente perseguido y exiliado en repetidas oportunidades al desierto. Allí conoció a San Antonio Abad y redactó su biografía. Siempre fiel a Cristo y a la Iglesia, murió el 2 de mayo del año 373, tras haber pasado, en total, 18 años de su vida en el destierro.
He was born in 295 in Alexandria. He achieved a great training in philosophy, grammar, theology and the Greek language. In 318 he was deacon and appointed secretary to the Bishop of Alexandria.
About the year 323 arose the heresy of Arianism that denies the divinity of Christ. It spread in such a way, the Ecumenical Council of Nicaea had to be organized, to which the Bishop of Alexandria attended with Athanasius. At this council the faith of the
Church was clearly established, promulgating the Nicene Creed and confirming the excommunication of Arius, the heretic. In the year 326, Athanasius was ordained a priest and wrote several books: “Against the pagans” and the “Incarnation of the Word”. When the Bishop of Alexandria died, he was chosen as his successor. But faced with the harassment of the Arians, the emperor organized several minor councils for which St. Athanasius was continuously persecuted and repeatedly exiled to the desert.
There he met St. Antonio Abad and wrote his biography. Always
faithful to Christ and the Church, he died on May 2, 373, after having spent a total of 18 years of his life in exile.

“THEOLOGY OF THE SUFFERING BODY” by Zachary Swantek
3.2 Original Unity (Summary)
First, this leads man to recognize that the other is a gift who has been entrusted
to him. Since a person is a gift created by God out of love, the only appropriate response to the gift is love. This is done through living with and for the other, through
a relationship of mutual giving. As Vatican II tells us, “man, who is the only creature on earth which God willed for itself, cannot fully find himself except through a sincere gift of self.” Through the gift of self, the body, far from isolating or separating man, allows him to transcend himself. Since man is not the image of God only in a moment, but throughout his life, the dynamism of the body shows that “man [becomes] the image of God not only through his own humanity, but also through the communion of persons, […] Man becomes an image of God not so much in the moment of solitude as in the moment of communion […] the image of an inscrutable divine
communion of Persons.” John Paul II calls this capacity for self-gift the “spousal meaning” of the body.
This is particularly expressed in the communion “personarum” of the spouses in marriage, who make a reciprocal, exclusive and life-long gift of themselves to each other. This does not mean that it is only in marriage that man is called to give and fulfill himself; man is called
to transform every moment of his life into an act of self-gift.” ( pg. 74)
3.1 Soledad Unidad (Resumen)
En primer lugar, esto lleva al hombre a reconocer que el otro es un don que le ha sido confiado. Dado que la
persona es un don creado por Dios por amor, la única respuesta adecuada al don es el amor. Esto se hace viviendo con y para el otro, a través de una relación de entrega recíproca. Como nos dice el Concilio Vaticano II,
“el hombre, que es la única criatura en la tierra que Dios ha querido para sí, no puede encontrarse plenamente a sí mismo sino a través de un sincero don de sí mismo”. A través del don de sí mismo, el cuerpo, lejos de aislar o separar al hombre, le permite trascenderse a sí mismo. Dado que el hombre no es imagen de Dios sólo en un momento, sino a lo largo de su vida, el dinamismo del cuerpo muestra que “el hombre [se hace] imagen de Dios no sólo por su propia humanidad, sino también por la comunión de las personas, [ …] El hombre se convierte en imagen de Dios no tanto en el momento de la soledad como en el momento de la comunión […] imagen de una
inescrutable comunión divina de Personas.” Juan Pablo II llama a esta capacidad de don de sí el “sentido esponsal” del cuerpo. Esto se expresa particularmente en la comunión “personarum” de los esposos en el matrimonio, que se hacen un don recíproco, exclusivo y duradero de sí mismos. Esto no quiere decir que sólo
en el matrimonio el hombre está llamado a darse y realizarse; el hombre está llamado a transformar cada instante de su vida en un acto de donación de sí mismo. (pág. 74)

2.- Progressive and ascetic character of our prayer.-
The state of prayer does not consist in finding and correcting defects or not defects, hits or misses; it is, above all, a loving offering of our lives minute by minute in the silence of the cross.
A single assimilated truth, a seed that falls on a ground softened by
our contrite tears or fertilized by humility and simplicity, creates the necessary humidity so that all the other evangelical truths grow day and
night without even realizing it. The daily retreat in our … (prayer) has been
given to us to exercise, day by day, in ourselves this most delicious experience of our filial conscience; an experience that has to be extended,
with increasing intensity, to all of our daily actions and even to our dreams. Learn to distinguish the voice of the Father, the voice of Christ, the voice of the Holy Spirit! Listen also to the unique voice of the Holy
Trinity! Let us not do our… (prayer) out of duty or obligation because then there will be no loving listening, no communication, and no contemplation. This observance would not be of much use to us if our
disposition were not shaped by generosity, by freedom and the impulse of
love 'with' and 'in spite of' the purifying states of aridity, apathy, hesitation, impotence, emptiness, disappointment.
Let us get used to giving continuity, far from any interruption caused by deliberate faults, to this communication, to this contemplation, to this exercise of love, so that our spiritual life and our apostolate may be eminently fruitful.

El estado de oración no consiste en encontrar y corregir defectos o no
defectos, aciertos o desaciertos; es, sobre todo, ofrenda amorosa de nuestras vidas minuto a minuto en el silencio de la cruz.
Una sola verdad asimilada, una semilla que cae en una tierra reblandecida por nuestra lágrima contrita o abonada por la humildad y la
