ENTONCES LLEGO UNA MUJER DE

SAMARIA A ASACAR AGUA Y JESUS

LE DIJO: “DAME DE BEBER”.

Today’s Second Reading tells us, “And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us...God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.” Just look at the Crucifix. That’s how much God loves you. That He was willing to die and suffer for sins that He didn’t commit. You can’t make Him love you less because His love and mercy are greater than any sin. No matter what other people think, God always thinks of you as His precious and beautiful child. He loves you for who you are-- not what you can do. You don’t have to have certain skills for God to love you. He already does. Even if other people stop loving us, God’s love can never fail.

The woman at the well from the Gospel came by herself, during the hot-test part of the day at noon, because she wasn’t considered worthy enough to go with everyone else. But her past and her ‘unworthiness’ didn’t matter. Jesus chose specifically to come to her in His love and compassion. Jesus always loves us-- no matter what our sins are-- and wants us to come back to Him and let Him forgive us. We need to be open to Jesus. Accept His infinite love. Come to Him in the Sacrament of Confession. The woman at the well believed Jesus could change her life and allowed Him to do that. We need to do the same.

La Segunda Lectura nos dice, “La esperanza no defrauda, porque Dios ha infundido su amor en nuestros corazones por medio del Espíritu Santo, que él mismo nos ha dado...Y la prueba de que Dios nos ama está en que Cristo murió por nosotros, cuando aún éramos pecadores.” Mira el crucifijo. Jesús te ama así. Que era Su voluntad morir y sufrir por pecados que Él no cometió. No le puedes hacer amarte menos porque Su amor y misericordia son mayor que cualquier pecado. No importa lo que cree la otra gente, Dios siempre cree en ti como Su niño precioso. Él te ama por quien eres- no por lo que puedes hacer. No tienes que tener ciertos talentos para convencer a Dios a quererte. Ya te quiere. Aún si el amor de otra gente falle, el amor de Dios no puede fallar. La mujer en el pozo del Evangelio vino sola, durante la parte más caliente del día, porque no fue considerado bastante digna de ir con los demás. Pero su pasado y ‘indignidad’ no eran lo impor-tante. Jesús escogió venir a ella específicamente en Su compasión y misericordia. Jesús siempre nos quiere-- irrespeto de nuestros peca-dos-- y nos quiere volver a Él y dejarlo a perdonarnos. Necesitamos estar abiertos a Jesús. Acepta Su amor infinito. Ven a Él en el Sacra-mento de la Confesión. La mujer en el pozo creía que Jesús podía cambiar su vida y le dejó hacerlo. Nosotros debemos hacer lo mismo.

Let us learn to rest in God this Lent. Instead of trying to fill the empty part of our hearts with material things or other people, we can only truly fill that with God.
