El Dr. José M. Sosa recibió el grado de Ingeniero en Electrónica por la Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (UASLP) en 2003. Recibió el grado de Maestro en Ciencias Aplicadas y el grado de Doctor en Ciencias Aplicadas, ambos con la opción de Control y Sistemas Dinámicos, del Instituto Potosino de Investigación Científica y Tecnológica (IPICYT) en los años 2005 y 2009 respectivamente.
Desde agosto de 2008 es Profesor-Investigador adscrito a la coordinación de Ingeniería Electrónica del Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Irapuato (ITESI). Sus intereses en investigación incluyen la teoría de control no lineal, el diseño de sistemas de control para convertidores de electrónica de potencia con aplicaciones a calidad de la energía y fuentes no convencionales de energía.
