Religious Education & Youth Ministry Registrations

Religious Education & Youth Ministry registrations are open. Please stop by the church office to reg-ister your children. You can also get the registra-tion forms from our web page.

This year Religious Education Classes are offered Tuesdays at 6:15 PM or Wednesdays at 4:30 PM. Youth Ministry meets on Sundays 5:00 - 7:00 PM. If you have any questions, please contact Renée Bader at 972-625-5252.

Ladies of Holy Cross are having their next “Lunch & Learn” on Saturday, August 26th from 10 AM through 2 PM in the church cafe-teria. They will be making rosaries. All the la-dies from our parish are welcomed to attend! Ladies of Holy Cross esta teniendo su próximo “Lunch & Learn” el sábado, 26 de agosto de 10 AM a 2 PM en la cafetería de la iglesia. St. Barbara Melkite Mission Representatives from St. Barbara Melkite Mission are visiting our parish next weekend. They are Catholic brothers and sisters in the Holy Land. They also have a display of beautiful olive wood carvings, which are all handmade by the Catholic people over there. Proceeds from the sale will help to build St. Barbara Church, which will be the first Catholic Melkite Mission in Texas.

“As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ.” 1 Cor 12.

This verse captures our parish. Each family is a vital part to our success. Including events, about 40%, have made a financial commitment to the future of Holy Cross by pledging $2,443,251 While about 870 families have not yet pledged to the GIFT cam-paign, you can see our construction progress and our commitment to expand.

A body cannot function properly, nor thrive, when over 50% of its parts are not fully engaged. We need everyone’s love, prayers, support and financial commitment to continue moving forward. It is up to all of us, especially those who have not pledged to raise the remaining construction costs of over $5,000,000!

Pledges can be made online at www.holycrosscc.org/GIFT or follow the links on our website to the GIFT Campaign. Donations can also be made to the GIFT Campaign in the envelopes in the pews, which can be placed in the collection basket.

•Jesus is present in our churches in the tabernacle, in the Holy Bible and in the praying community. We honor him in the church by wearing honorable dress.

•Jesus, with a whip in his hands, drove away the merchants and money changers from the Temple of Jerusalem for con-

verting his “Father’s house into a market

place.” Hence dress we wear for shopping or beach is not expected in the church. •Scanty, transparent or provocative dress gives distraction and scandal to the

pray-ing community. “Be careful however, that

the exercise of your freedom does not be-come a stumbling to the weak” (I Cor.8:9). •We come to the church to offer our lives on the altar and receive God’s blessings. Hence we must dress properly.

•St. Paul instructs us: “I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and pro-priety.”(1Timothy 2:9-10).

•People expect modesty and decency in dress and dignity in behavior in the church. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (No. 2521-2524), reminds us that “Modesty is decency.”

•If we wear formal dress for an interview or meeting a VIP but not for going to church, there is something wrong with our attitude in worshipping God. Appropriate dress is the mark of showing respect to God in the church.

•Christianity teaches us that the sacredness of the human body as a gift from God, calls for thoughtful respect and privacy, not over exposure.

•The congregation expects modest dress and reverent behavior especially from lec-tors, Eucharistic ministers and choir mem-bers whom everybody notices during the Holy Mass.

•Jesús esta presente en nuestras iglesias en el tabernáculo, en la Santa Biblia y en la oración comunitaria. Nosotros lo honramos en la iglesia usando vestimenta honorable.

•La ropa escandalosa, transparente o provocati-va distrae y escandaliza a la comunidad que ve a orar. “Cuídense, pues, de que el uso de su libertad no haga caer a los débiles” (I Co-r.8:9).

•Nosotros venimos a la iglesia a ofrecer nues-tras vidas a Dios en el altar y a recibir sus ben-diciones. Por lo tanto debemos de vestirnos apropiadamente.

•San Pablo no enseña: “Así mismo que las mu-jeres sepan revestirse de gracia y buen juicio, en lugar de adornarse con peinados rebusca-dos , oro, joyas o vestirebusca-dos caros.” ( 1 Timoteo 2:9-10).

•En la iglesia se espera de la gente, la modestia y decencia en el vestir y una conducta digna. El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica. (2522), nos recuerda que la “Modestia es decencia.”

•Si usamos un vestido formal para una entre-vista o una junta con una persona muy impor-tante (VIP) pero no para ir a la iglesia, hay al-go que esta mal en nuestra forma de adorar a Dios. Una vestidura apropiada es la marca que demuestra el respeto a Dios en la iglesia. •El Cristianismo nos enseña lo sagrado que es nuestro cuerpo como regalo de Dios, y nos hace un llamado al respeto y la privacidad del mismo, no a sobre exponerlo.

•La congregación espera una modesta vesti-menta y una conducta reverente, especialmente de los lectores, ministros de la Santa Eucaristía y miembros del coro, que son las personas que todos identifican durante la Santa Misa.
