RUN-OFF ELECTION OF MUNICIPAL OFFICER Duncanville, Texas
June 23, 2012
CANVASS OF RETURNS AND DECLARATION OF RESULTS OF RUN-OFF ELECTION
BE IT REMEMBERED THAT on this the 28th day of June, 2012, at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Duncanville, Texas, a quorum being present, the meeting was called to order
and the following business was transacted.
Upon motion of Councilman Smithey and seconded by Councilman Freeman, it was
unanimously ordered that the City Council consider the official returns of the run-off election held in
the City on the above mentioned date, for the election of City Officers.
WHEREUPON said official returns were opened, examined, canvassed and the results declared as follows:
CANVASS OF RETURNS AND DECLARATION OF RESULTS
WHEREAS, heretofore, the City Council of the City of Duncanville, Texas, called a run-off election to be held in the City on June 23, 2012, for the following purpose:
To elect a Mayor for a two (2) year term and a District 4 Councilmember for a two (2) year
term.
AND, WHEREAS, immediately after said-election, the Presiding-Judges and other officials · holding said election made their returns of the results thereof to the City Council as follows, and said
returns being made according to law, and duly authenticated, and it being shown that written notice
of said election was posted for the time and in the manner provided by law, and all other proceedings pertaining to said election having been shown to have been done and performed at and within the
manner provided by law, and all papers pertaining thereto having been returned and filed with the
City Council and no protest or objection being made to or regarding any matter pertaining to said
election:
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Duncanville, Texas, after examining said returns and opening and canvassing the votes of said election, that the results of
said election are as follows:
That the following number of votes were cast for the following named candidates for the
office of Mayor:

Deborah Hodge David Green

It appearing that Deborah Hodge received a majority of all votes cast for all the candidates
for the office of Mayor, and is hereby declared to be elected to the office to serve a two (2) year term
after qualifying.
That the following number of votes were cast for the following named candidates for the
office of District 4 Councilmember:

Grady W. Smithey, Jr.
Mark D. Cooks
NUMBER OF VOTES 240

It appearing that Mark D. Cooks received a majority of all votes cast for all the candidates for
the office of District 4 Councilmember, and is hereby declared to be elected to the office to serve a
two (2) year term after qualifying.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that this canvass and declaration of results of said election be entered in the Minutes of the City Council and that said officers, after they have qualified and taken
their oaths, shall serve during the term commencing June 28, 2012, and thereafter until their
successors are duly elected and qualified.
This Resolution, declaring the results of the election shall become effective immediately after
its passage.
ORDERED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Duncanville, Texas, this the 28rth day of June, 2012.

SEGUNDA VOTACION ELECCION DE AUTORIDADES MUNICIP ALES Duncanville, Texas
23 de junio 2012
SONDEO DE LOS RESULTADOS Y DECLARACION DE LOS RESULTADOS DE LAS ELECCIONES SEGUNDA VOTACI6N
Debe recordarse queen este dia el 28 de junio 2012, en una reunion del Consejo Municipal de la Ciudad de Duncanville, Texas, siendo el quorum, la reunion fue Hamada al orden y la transaccion siguiente fue habil.
A mocion del Smithey y secundada por Freeman, se ordeno por unanimidad que el Ayuntamiento considere los resultados oficiales de las votacion elecciones celebradas en la Ciudad en la fecha arriba mencionada, para la eleccion de oficiale de la ciudad.
Con Io cual, dijo los resultados oficiales se abrieron, se examinaron, el escrutinio y los resultados proclamados como sigue:
SONDEO DE LOS RESULTADOS Y DECLARACION DE LOS RESULTADOS CONSIDERANDO que, hasta ahora, el Ayuntamiento de la Ciudad de Duncanville, Texas, convoc6 a segunda votacion elecciones que se celebraran en la Ciudad el 23 de junio 2012, para los siguientes fines:
Para elegir a un Alcalde para un termino de dos (2) afios y para elegir a un Concejal de Distrito 4 para un termino de dos (2) afios.
Y, CONSIDERANDO que, inmediatamente despues de dicha eleccion, los Juezes que presiden y otros funcionarios de dicha eleccion hechas sus declaraciones de sus resultados al Concejo Municipal de la siguiente manera, y dijo que devuelve estan realizando de acuerdo a la ley, y debidamente autenticada, y que se muestra la notificacion escrita de dicha eleccion fue fijada por el tiempo yen la forma prevista por la ley, y todos los otros procedimientos relativos a dicha eleccion que se ha demostrado que se ha realizado y realiza en y dentro de la forma prevista por la ley, y todos los papeles que pertenecen al mismo que se haya devuelto y archivada con el Ayuntamiento y no de protesta u objecion se estan realizando para o acerca de cualquier cuestion relacionada
con dicha eleccion: - --- - - -- -- - --
AHORA, POR LO TANTO, se resuelve por el Ayuntamiento de la ciudad de Duncanville, Texas, despues de examinar dichas declaraciones y la apertura y el escrutinio de los votos de dicha eleccion, que los resultados de dicha eleccion son los siguientes:
Que el numero siguiente de votos fueron emitidos a favor de los siguientes candidates nombrado para el cargo de Alcalde:

Apareciendo que Deborah Hodge recibi6 la mayoria de los votos emitidos por todos los candidates para el cargo de Alcalde, y el se declara que se elegira a la oficina para servir un termino de 2 afios de plazo despues de la calificaci6n.
Que el numero siguiente de votos fueron emitidos a favor de los siguientes candidatos nombrado para el cargo de Concej al Distrito 4:

Apareciendo que Mark D. Cooks recibi6 la mayoria de los votos emitidos por todos los candidates para el cargo de Concejal Distrito 4, y else declara que se elegira a la oficina para servir un termino de 2 afios de plazo despues de la calificaci6n.
ADEMAS SE ORDENA que este escrutinio y proclamaci6n de los resultados de dicha elecci6n se consignara en el acta del Concejo Municipal y que dichos funcionarios, despues de haber calificado y tornado sus juramentos, actuara durante el periodo que comienza 28 de junio, 2012 y posteriormente hasta que sus sucesores sean debidamente elegidos y calificados.
Esta Resoluci6n, una vez declarados los resultados de la elecci6n se hara efectiva inmediatamente despues de su pasaje.
ORDENADA Y ADOPTADA por el Concejo Municipal de la Ciudad de Duncanville, Texas, este dia el 28 de junio 2012.
