St. Andrew Community Service Project for October
October is Respect Life Month. As Catholics, we recognize the sacredness of all life, from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death. Cardinal Joseph Bernardin described this “consistent ethic of life” as a “seamless garment”.
The seamless garment connects all issues that affect the life and dignity of the human person, including care of the unborn, the elderly, the poor, creation, and many other issues.
Beginning the weekend of October 3, the parish will honor this consistent ethic of life by offering a number of actions:
Bring in a package of diapers that we will donate to those in need in our own community
Pray for the child who will wear the diapers, or write a prayer for that child and tape it to the diapers
Write an encouraging letter to a death-row inmate
Put together a care package for someone in a nursing home or a homebound parishioner
Make a commitment to pray the Rosary every day in the month of October and dedicate your prayer to Respect Life issues
If you knit or crochet, make a prayer blanket for our Ministers to the Sick to distribute to the homebound, or make caps for newborn and preemie babies that we can donate to the hospital
Go deeper by reading or viewing suggested resources about Respect Life issues
Go deeper by praying over and responding to reflection questions that will be provided
You may choose to participate in as many activities as you would like. We will have tables set up this weekend and throughout October with instructions for the different activities. Please stop by the tables after mass. If you know someone who is not able to come to mass because they are homebound, and would like to participate, please spread the word about this project, so all can take part.
Proyecto de servicio comunitario de St. Andrew en octubre
Octubre es el Mes del Respeto a la Vida. Como católicos, reconocemos el carácter sagrado de toda vida, desde el momento de la concepción hasta el momento de la muerte natural. El cardenal Joseph Bernardin describió esta "ética constante de la vida" como una "prenda sin costuras". Au cas où vous connaîtriez quelqu'un qui ne soit pas en mesure de venir à la messe parce qu'il est confiné chez lui et aimerait prendre part à ces activités, encouragez le à le faire et informez tout un chacun de ce projet, afin que tous puissent y participer.

St. Andrew Ladies Guild News
The Ladies Guild had their first meeting of the year on Saturday. Everyone participated in humming, chanting and drumming as they explored the musical side of their spirituality with speaker Diane Gallagher.

place for this year, including their annual Christmas
Cookie Tray sale which will start preordering in

Custodian Wanted
Description
St. Andrew Catholic School in Orlando is seeking a part-time Custodian to be responsible for ensuring a clean and sanitary learning environment. Responsibilities include all cleaning and sanitation of the facility (including school, office, kitchens and cafeteria). Job requires that instructions, that are specific in nature, be followed very closely. Job entails a heavy workload with a well-established routine.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma; related experience preferred.
Position requires the incumbent to be on his/her feet for extended periods, repeated lifting, bending and flexibility;
utilizing equipment/machinery to accomplish the work (including but not limited to ladders, vacuum cleaner, electric scrubbers/buffers, mops, brooms, blowers, etc.); lifting heavy equipment.
As with all employees, the successful candidate must be able to successfully pass Diocesan background check and Safe Environment Test.
Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings.
Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church.
Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
The above position is a part time position from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Monday-Fridays.

At that time, John said to Jesus, “Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us.” Jesus replied, “Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me. For whoever is not against us is for us. Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his reward.
Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were put around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed than with two hands to go into Gehenna, into the unquenchable fire.
And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life crippled than with two feet to be thrown into Gehenna.
And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out.
Better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into Gehenna, where ‘their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.’
