July 26, 2017 Welcome back new and returning families to Lafrancis Hardiman/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School! On behalf of the entire LFH/MLK community, I want to welcome you and your family to our school. The 2017‐2018 school year promises to be one filled with excitement! I have no doubt that you will fall in love with LFH/MLK Elementary School just as I have in my tenure as principal. In these three incredible years of leadership, I have found our school staff to be highly committed and passionate about teaching and learning wanting nothing more than to help your child succeed. I have also found that our parents are equally committed and passionate about our school and scholar success. I am extremely appreciative for our school PTA that provides engaging academic and social events to promote effective school, parent, and community partnerships. At the heart of our work is our scholars. Each day I have the pleasure of witnessing our scholars demonstrate strong leadership, kindness, and a desire to do their very best. Prior to the first day of the 2017‐2018 school year, I encourage you to reflect on the following question that will help our school soar to even greater heights: How will you increase your engagement in our school community this year? Perhaps you’d like to help in our lower‐house by becoming a mystery reader, help during a class visit to the computer lab, or have 10 minutes to spare in the morning to greet scholars as they enter the building to begin a day of learning. Whatever you decide, my hope is that you will become actively engaged in the teaching and learning processes at LFH/MLK. We need you and your child will fully thrive with your active engagement in our school. As the school year begins, please be on the lookout for information detailing the engagement opportunities at our school. In addition, please share any engagement ideas that you have with our school staff. Together we achieve more!

El año 2017‐2018 promete ser uno lleno de emoción! No dudo que usted caerá en amor con la escuela primaria LFH/MLK igual como tengo en mi gestión como director.
