called by God to take part in the mission of love and truth in the world. With firm faith in Jesus the Christ and
the Holy Gospel, we find our strength through prayer and the Sacraments, that we may become God’s servants to

Thanksgiving is quickly approach-ing and I for one have a great deal to be grateful for. When you read this I will be at our St. Lawrence Friary in Beacon, NY. Although some times the cure is worse than the disease, my doctors are very pleased with my progress. On Octo-ber24th I received my bone marrow trans-plant. While not a pleasant experience; I have tolerated well the chemotherapy and radiation which is part of my treatment. Thanks be to God and your prayerful sup-port which has been like a blanket of com-fort for me every day. I have been praying for you also.
One day a member of the nursing staff asked if I wanted or needed anything and I responded, “A miracle!” She then quickly answered, “You’ve already gotten your miracle, Father – your donor.” She was right. So many are not as fortunate as me. That’s why they gave me a “Happy Birthday” balloon to celebrate. Now, I’m like a newborn with all of my vaccinations and immunities canceled. It has rendered me vulnerable to any infections or illness so I will be resting my energy and strength for many months.
I heard about the wonderful Dinner Dance and the annual Beefsteak dinner. Thanks to all of you for keeping things going on in my albescence, especially to Fr. Francisco, Fr. Prem and Bro. Lombar-do. They along with our church staff de-serve our heartfelt gratitude.
While I still am not able to receive visitors, I am keeping you ever present in my thoughts and prayers. Please know that this Thanksgiving I’ll be thanking God for you. May God bless you and your families at this special time. Thanks!
Love and Prayers,
Bro. John

Estimados Feligreses:
¡Gracias!
Mucho amor y bendiciones,
Hno. Juan

ENCOURAGEMENT
This Sunday’s Gospel is our final selection from Mark for this liturgical year. It is taken from the end of Jesus’ teaching in Jerusalem im-mediately preceding the account of his arrest and passion. In it Jesus gives his disciples hope to sus-tain them through his passion and death and any persecution or suffering that they would
encoun-ter afencoun-ter his resurrection.
The words from the book of Daniel also provided hope and encouragement to the people
of Daniel’s time. The encouragement in these scriptures is meant for us as well, for none of us will escape tribulation in our lives. Followers of Jesus will be able to endure suffering with joyful
hope, knowing that Christ’s love will lead us along the way of discipleship and give us eternal
life with God.
