THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT
Jesus, help us to see you at work in our lives, especially in the moments where we feel alone and discouraged. Help us to cry out your coming, and to hear the prophets of the good news whom you send to encourage and remind us you are already here. Amen.
FROM THE RELG . ED . DIRECTOR
ROYSALINAS
During this Lenten season I have been reading the daily reflections for Lent “Not by Bread Alone” by Mary DeTurris Poust it is a meaningful reflection on the daily Mass readings.
I would like to share today’s theme: “Come no nearer!
Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground. (Exodus 3:5)
Reflection: I’ll be the first one to admit that I often approach God without much fear. I whine and complain, demand and plead, like a teenager who’s angling for extended curfew hours or the keys to the family car. And while that can often be a good thing, seeing God as a loving parent who will put up with pretty much anything, there can be a danger there.
When we lose sight of holy ground, of the great I AM who is and was and is to come.
The burning bush in today’s first reading reminds us that God enters into our lives in the ordinariness of our days.
Moses was tending his father-in-law’s flock when God burst into the scene, literally, and called him. Although none of us get that level of drama in our God moments, they are there, hidden in plain sight, as God waits for us to respond, “Here I am.” For us to recognize those entry points, those flashes of the divine in our own daily lives, we have to have an aware- ness of the holy ground on which we tread, a sense of aware for God’s greatness. Sadly, I think we’ve lost that sense of awe, so cynical are we about so much in our world and so convinced of our own greatness. What sign is calling you to connection?
Meditation: So often, we listen to Scripture stories, such as that of the burning bush in today’s first reading, and brush them off as an event for different people in a different time, but the word of God is alive and meant for us today right now. Look around your life. Is there a figurative burning bush trying to get your attention? Where is your holy ground?
During this Lenten season, you can rekindle a sense of awe for the divine and begin to take note of the ordinary moments that provide for extraordinary insights? Where is God in those moments? Or, perhaps more accurately, where are you? There is a saying circulating in spiritual memes and columns that seem to fit here: If God feels far away, guess who moved?
Prayer: Praise to you, God of all creation! May we always be mindful of the holy ground on which we tread, and may we be attentive to your call and open to your invitation.
From our little corner of the vineyard.
Ahora mismo. Mira a tu alrededor tu vida.

MASS INTENTIONS
INTENCIONES PARA LA MISA
In today’s Gospel Jesus is quite clear in his message: “bear fruit or be cut down.” This Lent we are called to cultivate and fertilize our spiritual lives through prayer, fasting and alms- giving. Through your almsgiving you are performing a good work; far greater than you think. Know that your dollars and cents help St. Vincent de Paul’s meal site.

Question of the week: Why would the father’s unconditional forgiveness of the prodigal son make the older son angry?
Have you ever felt similar in a family or work situation?
Also read 2 Corinthians 5:17-21.
What might being a new creation look like in the prodigal’s son life? What would it take for his older brother to become a new creation?
