¿Qué puedo 'HACER' durante la Cuaresma este año?
“¡No es a lo que puedes renunciar, es a lo que puedes hacer!”
Vivimos una vida ocupada, pero los invito a considerar: pasar más tiempo en oración, rezar el Rosario, leer las Escrituras o asistir a algunos de los eventos espirituales de
la parroquia. Todas estas son cosas que podemos HACER que impactarían nuestras vidas de fe y las vidas de los que nos rodean.
1.-Puedes apuntarte a la Adoración Eucarística los jueves – pasar un rato con Jesús.
2.- Estaciones de la Cruz:
Viernes de Cuaresma, Estaciones de la Cruz. Inglés 5:00 p. m. y español 5:45 p. m.
(Habrá nuevos libros disponibles).
3.-Coronilla de la Divina Misericordia en inglés durante la Cuaresma:
Todos los lunes y jueves a las 6:00 pm. Se rezará la Coronilla a la Divina Misericordia frente al Santísimo Sacramento. Los diáconos lo dirigirán.
4.-Misión Parroquial de Cuaresma: 14 y 15 de marzo a las 6:00pm “Come Back to me por el Rev. Chris Kuhn.
5.-El Sacramento de la Unción de Enfermos se ofrecerá durante las misas del 26/27 de marzo en todas las misas.
También puede considerar: escribir una carta o llamar a alguien con quien no ha ha- blado en mucho tiempo: abuelos, padres, un hermano, alguien que conoce que se sien- te solo. Mejor aún, ¡ve a verlos! Lleva a alguien que sepas que se siente solo a almorzar
cada semana. Recoge algo de basura. Cómprele una comida a una persona sin hogar.
Ofrezca a alguien que lo lleve a casa desde el trabajo o desde Misa. Ayude a su hijo o nieto con su tarea y dígales lo increíbles que son... ¡Las ideas son muchas y variadas y
todas maravillosamente satisfactorias! También pueden ser increíblemente divertidos (¡lo cual está bien por cierto!) ¡Que tu viaje de Cuaresma esté lleno de oración y signifi-

REFLEXIÓN DEL EVANGELIO DEL DOMINGO La muerte redentora de Jesús:
¿estás abierto a su amor y misericordia?
El autor Gabriel García Márquez dijo una vez que hay un evento que no sería capaz de describir por escrito, el evento más importante de su vida: su muerte. Jesús habló de Su propia muerte muchas veces en los Evangelios. Él compara Su muerte con un grano de trigo que debe morir para dar fru- to. La muerte de Jesús fue tan fecunda que tiene una dimen- sión universal. Por las palabras, “Y cuando sea levantado de la tierra, atraeré a todos hacia mí”, Jesús reveló que Él murió por cada persona que ha sido creada.
Jesús sufrió y murió de una manera horrenda. Fue tan terri- ble que incluso Él, Dios, dijo: “Estoy turbado ahora”, mientras contemplaba Su muerte en la Cruz. ¿Te imaginas a Dios, Quien creó el mundo entero, estando atribulado? Y, sin em- bargo, Jesús murió sin otra razón que su amor por nosotros.
Desde un punto de vista espiritual, es muy importante crecer en una conciencia más profunda de la profundidad del Amor de Jesús, ya que Él pagó el precio más alto para mostrárnos- lo: el precio de Su vida.
Un día cada uno de nosotros también morirá. No sabemos cuándo ni cómo, pero sí sabemos que nos encontraremos con Jesús en el momento de nuestra muerte. En este mo- mento, los demonios también intentarán hacer todo lo posible para convencernos de que Dios no nos ama. Las preguntas, por lo tanto, permanecen: en el momento de nuestra muerte,
¿estaremos abiertos a aceptar el Amor y la Misericordia de Jesús? ¿O rechazaremos Su Amor y elegiremos la condena- ción?
Me gustaría invitarlos a tomarse un tiempo para reflexionar sobre cómo utilizarán el tiempo restante de Cuaresma para acercarse más a Jesús. Me gustaría animaros a que se pre- guntén “¿Realmente quiero aprovechar la muerte redentora de Jesús? ¿Realmente deseo beneficiarme de la gracia del sufrimiento de Jesús?” Jesús nos da el privilegio de ser Sus hijos e hijas, y nos da la oportunidad de seguirlo e ir al Cielo.
Pero, ¿realmente nos importa esto? ¿Vivimos (e incluso mori- mos) con esta conciencia? ¿O nos impulsan más nuestros

recuerde que Dios lo ama y Su mayor deseo es que esté unido a Él en el Cielo para siempre. Por esto murió y resucitó de entre los muertos.

Jesus’ Redemptive Death:
Are You Open to His Love and Mercy?
The author Gabriel Garcia Marquez once said that there is one event that he would not be able to describe in writing—
the most important event of his life: his death. Jesus spoke about His own death many times in the Gospels. He likens His death to a grain of wheat that must die in order to bear fruit. Jesus’ death was so fruitful that it has a universal di- mension. By the words, “And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself,” Jesus revealed that He died for every person who has ever been created.
Jesus’ suffered and died in a horrendous manner. It was so terrible that even He—God, said, “I am troubled now,” as He contemplated His death on the Cross. Could you imagine God, Who created the entire world, being troubled? And yet, Jesus died for no other reason than His Love for us. From a spiritual point of view, it is very important to grow in a deeper awareness of the depth of Jesus’ Love since He paid the greatest price to show it to us: the price of His life.
One day each of us will also die. We do not know when or how, but we do know that we will encounter Jesus at the moment of our death. At this moment, the demons will also try to do everything they can to convince us that God does not love us. The questions, therefore, remain: At the mo- ment of our death will we be open to accept Jesus’ Love and Mercy? Or, will we reject His Love and choose condem- nation?
I would like to invite you to take some time to reflect on how you will use the remaining time of Lent to grow closer to Je- sus. I would like to encourage you to ask yourselves: “Do I really want to take advantage of the redemptive death of Jesus? Do I really wish to benefit from the grace of Jesus’
suffering?” Jesus gives us the privilege to be His sons and daughters, and He gives us the opportunity to follow Him and go to Heaven. But do we really care about this? Do we live (and even die) with this awareness? Or, are we driven more by our own desires to avoid death at all costs and live in comfort?
As you consider your answers to these questions, please remember that God loves you and His greatest desire is for you to be united with Him in Heaven forever. For this He died and rose from the dead.

The Hidden Power of Confession “If we say we are without sin we deceive ourselves” (1 John 1:8) The Sacrament of Pen- ance, also called the Sacrament of Confession, instituted by Jesus Christ after his resurrection, is a hidden treasure that many have yet to discover. When you do discover that hidden power, your joy will be boundless. A story is told about three penniless knights who were lost on their return from their pilgrimage to the Holy Land. They were caught in a violent rainstorm that lasted several days.
As they crossed a creek on the first day, in the darkness of the storm, they heard a voice telling them: “Pick up some pebbles and you will be glad and sad.” The first weary knight thought that the idea was just ridiculous, and so he did not pick up any pebble. The second knight picked up several pebbles and put them in his pack. The third knight stuffed his saddle bag with pebbles. After six days of travel, the storm eased and they got a moment to rest.
On opening his bag, the third knight discovered that it was filled with pure gold. His joy was boundless. The second knight found out that he had just a few pieces of gold and his pack and was sad that he had not filled his pack with the pebbles. The first knight was very sad because he was still penniless. The Sacrament of Confession is like a hidden treas- ure when we have lost our way and find ourselves in the midst of the storms of life.
If we listen to the whisper of the Holy Spirit and fill our bag pack with the pebbles of this sacrament we will be sur- prised by joy. It is amazing when we emerge from the Sacrament of Confession feeling so light after Jesus takes the bur- den of sin off our backs. This Lent the Holy Spirit is whispering to you and if you respond positively, you will be so trans- formed by the Sacrament of Confession. Your joy will be boundless! Fr Jesus

El poder oculto de la confesión “Si decimos que estamos libres de pecado, nos engañamos a nosotros mismos” (1 Juan 1:8) El Sacramento de la Penitencia, también llamado Sacramento de la Confesión, instituido por Jesucristo des- pués de su resurrección, es un tesoro escondido que muchos tienen aún por descubrir. Cuando descubras ese poder oculto, tu alegría será ilimitada. Se cuenta la historia de tres caballeros sin dinero que se perdieron al regresar de su pe- regrinaje a Tierra Santa. Fueron atrapados en una violenta tormenta que duró varios días.
Mientras cruzaban un arroyo el primer día, en la oscuridad de la tormenta, escucharon una voz que les decía:
“Recojan algunas piedrecitas y estarán alegres y tristes”. El primer caballero cansado pensó que la idea era simplemente ridícula, por lo que no recogió ningún guijarro. El segundo caballero recogió varios guijarros y los puso en su mochila. El tercer caballero llenó su alforja con guijarros. Después de seis días de viaje, la tormenta amainó y tuvieron un momento para descansar.
Al abrir su bolsa, el tercer caballero descubrió que estaba llena de oro puro. Su alegría no tenía límites. El segundo caballero descubrió que solo tenía unas pocas piezas de oro y su mochila y estaba triste porque no había llenado su mo- chila con los guijarros. El primer caballero estaba muy triste porque todavía no tenía un centavo. El Sacramento de la Confesión es como un tesoro escondido cuando hemos perdido el rumbo y nos encontramos en medio de las tormentas de la vida.

How to Make a Good Confession: Be Reconciled: Parish Reconciliation Service April 6th, 2022
A number of parishioners have asked me the question of how to make a good confession. This is a two-part response:
1) How to prepare for confession; and 2) How to make a good confession. In preparation for confession, first ask God for the Holy Spirit’s help to examine your conscience well by reviewing your conduct in light of your relationship with God and one another. One useful way is to review the commandment of love of God and one’s neighbor as oneself.
The questions below should assist you in making a thorough review.
At the time of confession, be prepared to tell the priest the specific kind of sins you have committed and, to the best of your ability, how many times you have committed them since your last good confession. Avoid generalizations and inform the priest of any relevant circumstances in which your sins were committed.
You are obliged to confess only mortal sins, since you can obtain forgiveness for your venial sins by sacrifices, acts of charity, prayer and other pious actions. Confession of venial sins, however, is very helpful for avoiding sin and advancing in holiness toward Heaven. If you are in doubt about whether a sin is mortal or venial, mention your doubt to the priest.
For a sin to be mortal, three conditions must together be met: “Mortal sin is a sin whose object is grave matter and which is also committed with full knowledge and deliberate consent.” (CCC 1857) Always tell the priest your state of life:
married or single, priest or religious.
Do not tell how your spouse, parent or sibling has been treating you. That is not your sin. Tell how you may have hurt them, judged them and your readiness to forgive them. In examining your conscience, a useful way is to look at the Ten Commandments by reviewing them prayerfully with regard to your relationship with God and with others.
For example on the first commandment: “I am the Lord your God. You shall not have strange gods before Me.” (Ex 20:2,3)
· Have I really loved God above all things or have I put other things such as work, money, drugs, TV, fame, pleasure, oth- er people ahead of Him?
· Have I made time for God each day in prayer?
· Have I denied my faith in God or endangered it by practices of the occult or through reading or programs that are opposed to faith and morals?
· Parents help your children to prepare for confession.
How to Make a Good Confession….
Here at St. Patrick’s the Sacrament of Confession is scheduled each week on:
Mondays 8:30 am and 6:00 pm, Tuesdays 8:30 am, Saturdays after 8:00 a.m. Mass and Saturdays 4:00-4:45 p.m.
One may also request for confession by calling the parish office phone number for an appointment with our priest any weekday from 9am to 4pm or take the op- portunity during BE RECONCILED day on April 6, 2022.
When one enters the confessional, one may either kneel behind the screen or in front of the priest. Then the penitent and the priest begin with the sign of the Cross, saying “In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.”
The penitent then continues saying: “Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been (weeks, months or years) since my last confession. Since then I confess the following…” The penitent then states his or her sins. The penitent must con- fess all the sins he or she is aware of having committed since the last confession, be sorry for them, and have a firm pur- pose of amendment to try not to commit the same sins in the future.
After this, the priest normally gives some advice to the penitent followed by a penance which may be in the form of prayer or works of mercy. Then he asks the penitent to make an act of contrition. The penitent may do so in his or her own words, or may say one of many memorized acts of contrition like the following “Act of Contrition Prayer.”
A copy is available at the confessional. “O My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you, whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with the help of your grace, to do penance, to sin no more and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, suffered and died for us. In His Name, O Lord, have mercy.”
After this the priest will absolve the penitent using the prayer of Absolution. The penitent makes the sign of the Cross and answers “Amen” and then leaves to go do the penance given by the priest. The time after leaving the confessional is the most traumatic, and so one needs a quiet moment with God to express gratitude for his mercy and forgiveness.
Cómo hacer una buena confesión: Reconcíliate: Servicio de Confesiones Parroquial 6 de Abril, 2022 Varios feligreses me han hecho la pregunta de cómo hacer una buena confesión. Esta es una respuesta en dos partes:
1.-Cómo prepararse para la confesión; y 2) Cómo hacer una buena confesión. En preparación para la confesión, primero pí- dale a Dios la ayuda del Espíritu Santo para examinar bien su conciencia al revisar su conducta a la luz de su relación con Dios y con los demás. Una forma útil es revisar el mandamiento del amor a Dios y al prójimo como a uno mismo.
Las siguientes preguntas le ayudarán a realizar una revisión exhaustiva.
En el momento de la confesión, esté preparado para decirle al sacerdote el tipo específico de pecados que ha cometido y, en la medida de sus posibilidades, cuántas veces los ha cometido desde su última buena confesión. Evite las generalizaciones e informe al sacerdote de cualquier circunstancia relevante en la que se cometieron sus pecados.
Estás obligado a confesar los pecados mortales, ya que puedes obtener el perdón de tus pecados veniales mediante sa- crificios, actos de caridad, oración y otras acciones piadosas. La confesión de los pecados veniales, sin embargo, es de gran ayuda para evitar el pecado y avanzar en santidad hacia el Cielo. Si tiene dudas sobre si un pecado es mortal o venial, men- cione su duda al sacerdote.
Para que un pecado sea mortal se deben reunir tres condiciones: “Pecado mortal es aquel cuyo objeto es materia grave y que además se comete con pleno conocimiento y consentimiento deliberado”. (CCC 1857) Dile siempre al sacerdote tu esta- do de vida: casado o soltero, sacerdote o religioso.
No digas cómo te ha tratado tu cónyuge, padre o hermano. Ese no es tu pecado. Dígales cómo los pudo haber lastimado, juzgado y su disposición a perdonarlos. Al examinar su conciencia, una forma útil es mirar los Diez Mandamientos repasán- dolos en oración con respecto a su relación con Dios y con los demás.
Por ejemplo sobre el primer mandamiento: “Yo soy el Señor tu Dios. No tendrás dioses ajenos delante de Mí”. (Éx 20:2,3)
· ¿Realmente he amado a Dios sobre todas las cosas o he puesto otras cosas como el trabajo, dinero, drogas, televisión, fama, placer, otras personas) antes que Él?
· ¿He hecho tiempo para Dios cada día en oración?
· ¿He negado mi fe en Dios o la he puesto en peligro por prácticas del ocultismo o a través de lecturas o programas que se oponen a la fe y la moral?
· Los padres ayuden a sus hijos a prepararse para la confesión.
Cómo hacer una buena confesión al llegar al Confesionario
Aquí en San Patricio, el Sacramento de la Confesión está programado cada semana el: Lunes 8:30 am 6:00 pm, Martes 8:30 am, Sábados des- pués de misa de 8:00 a.m. Sábado 4:00-4:45 pm. También se puede soli- citar la confesión llamando al número de teléfono de la oficina parroquial para una cita con nuestro párroco cualquier día de la semana de 9 a. m. a 4 p. m. O aprovechar el día entero de las Confesiones: RECONCILIATE.
Cuando uno ingresa al confesionario, puede arrodillarse detrás de la pantalla o sentarse frente al sacerdote. Entonces el pe- nitente y el sacerdote comienzan con la señal de la Cruz, diciendo: En el Nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo.
Amén.
El penitente continúa diciendo: “Bendíceme, Padre, porque he pecado. Mi Ultima confesión fue ( usted dice cuando sema- nas, meses o años) desde mi última confesión. Desde entonces confieso lo siguiente…” El penitente entonces dice sus peca- dos. El penitente debe confesar todos los pecados que tenga conocimiento de haber cometido desde la última confesión, arrepentirse de ellos y tener un firme propósito de enmienda para tratar de no cometer los mismos pecados en el futuro.
Después de esto, el sacerdote normalmente da algún consejo al penitente seguido de una penitencia que puede ser en forma de oración u obras de misericordia. Luego le pide al penitente que haga un acto de contrición. El penitente puede ha- cerlo con sus propias palabras, o puede decir uno de los muchos actos de contrición memorizados como el siguiente “Acto de Oración de Contrición”.
Una copia está disponible en el confesionario. “Oh Dios mío, me arrepiento de mis pecados con todo mi corazón. Al elegir hacer el mal y dejar de hacer el bien, he pecado contra ti, a quien debo amar sobre todas las cosas. Me propongo firmemen- te, con la ayuda de tu gracia, hacer penitencia, no pecar más y evitar todo lo que me lleve a pecar. Nuestro Salvador, Jesu- cristo, sufrió y murió por nosotros. En Su Nombre, oh Señor, ten piedad”.
Después de esto, el sacerdote absuelve al penitente usando la oración de Absolución. El penitente hace la señal de la Cruz y responde: Amén y luego se va para ir a hacer la penitencia dada por el sacerdote. El tiempo después de salir del con- fesionario es el más traumático, por lo que uno necesita un momento de tranquilidad con Dios para expresar gratitud por su misericordia y perdón.

Today we celebrate Rite of Welcome and Acceptance at the 11:00 am Mass
A little history…. This is the first of the public rituals celebrated in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) process. The Rite of Acceptance into the order of Catechumens (for unbaptized Catechumens) preparing to celebrate the sacraments in the Catholic Church). An important mo- ment in the Rite is when each candidate is asked if they are ready to accept the Gospel Way of Life. Their affirmation is a public expression of their intention to follow the way of Jesus Christ.
The candidates will be marked by the sign of the cross by Fr. Dominguez and their sponsors.
With this ancient mark, they are claimed for Christ. As the assembled Church, we celebrate this ritual by blessing our Inquirers, listening to them, praying for them, giving evidence of the spirit of our Christian community, inviting them into our hearts, and passing on to them our beliefs,
traditions and all that we hold sacred and cherish. Please keep our Catechumens in your thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks.
Hoy celebramos el Rito de Bienvenida y Aceptación en la Misa de las 11:00am
Una pequeña historia…. Este es el primero de los rituales públicos celebrados en el proceso del Rito de Iniciación Cristiana de Adultos (RICA). El Rito de Aceptación en la orden de los Ca- tecúmenos (para Catecúmenos no bautizados) preparándose para celebrar los sacramentos en la Iglesia Católica). Un momento importante en el Rito es cuando se le pregunta a cada candi- dato si está listo para aceptar el Modo de Vida del Evangelio. Su afirmación es una expresión pública de su intención de seguir el camino de Jesucristo. Los candidatos serán marcados con la señal de la cruz por el P. Domínguez y sus padrinos. Con esta marca antigua, se reclaman para Cristo.
Como Iglesia reunida, celebramos este ritual bendiciendo a nuestros catecúmenos, escuchándolos, orando por ellos, dando evidencia del espíritu de nuestra comunidad cristiana, invitándolos a nuestros corazones y transmitiéndoles nuestras creencias, tradiciones y todo lo que consideramos sagrado y apreciamos. Por favor, mantenga a nuestros ca- tecúmenos en sus pensamientos y oraciones en las próximas semanas.
