There are lots of fine books that would be worth reading and reflecting upon. Would anyone be interested in joining a book club (in English) with Fr. Brendan? We could meet once a week. Time and date can be adjusted to meet your needs.

Saturday headliner:

We were blessed with an offer from Los Cadetes de Linales de Francisco Gurerrero to headline Saturday night as a donation to our church. They will also play on Sunday afternoon. They are quite famous and popular. Thanks to Minerva Torres for making the contact for us.

Sunday headliner:

Roberto Pulido has contractred with us to be the headliner for Sunday evening. Our band line-up for both days is very strong. Hopefully it will lead towards a successful turnout on both days.

Raffle tickets

To stage a festival costs in the region of $20,000.00. Therefore, we are assessing every family in the parish $50.00 to help with the fund-ing of the festival. Any raffle tickets you sell can be used towards your $50.00 assessment. If you prefer to give the $50.00 rather than sell tickets, that is also acceptable.

FESTIVAL DE OCTUBRE

Ya tenemos las bandas para el festival.

Banda para el sábado.

Fuimos bendecidos con la oferta de los Cadetes de Linares de Francisco Guerrero para que tocaran la noche del sábado como donación para la iglesia. También tocaran el domingo por la tarde. Son po-pulares y famosos. Gracias a Minerva Torres por contactarnos con ellos.

Roberto Pulido a sido con-tratado para tocar el domin-go por la noche. Las dos bandas para los dos días son muy buenas. Ojala nos lleve a un festival con éxito en los dos días.

Boletos de Rifa

Llevar a cabo un festival cuesta entre $ 20,000.00. Por lo tanto, estamos evaluando todas las familias de la parroquia con 50.00 dólares para ayudar con la financiación del festival. Cualquier boleto de la rifa que vendan será utilizado como parte de los $50.00. Si usted prefiere dar los $50.00 en vez de vender los boletos, también es aceptable.

Church painting

The Sandoval family of painters have completed the painting of the church exterior and are presently repair-ing and paintrepair-ing the interior sacristy ceilrepair-ing and painting the rectory.

We have replaced all the damaged wood in the church windows and are in the process of getting bids for covering the windows with protective glass.

Ted Henderson, a parishioner, has committed to giving us one day a week of volunteer service. Once the painting of the sacristy ceiling is complete, he and Luis Flores will install new lighting.

The facia boards and the gutters on the church

rectory were rotten. Leo-nel Librado and Martin Pachecho have removed them and are presently installing new facia boards and new gutters and

downspouts. The Sando-vals are also at work paint-ing the exterior of the house.

The new handicap ramp should be

completed by the time you read this bulletin. The ramp work as well as the front pavement is being funded by the Diocese.

Pintura en el Iglesia La familia Sandoval a completado de pintar el exterior de la iglesia y ahora están reparando y pintando el interior del techo de la sacristía y pintando la rectoría. Hemos reemplazado toda la madera dañada de las ventanas de la iglesia y estamos en el proceso de obtener ofertas para cubrir las ventanas con vidrios protectores.

New boiler We did not get an

OK on funds from the Diocese for the installation of the new boiler and cooling coils needed for the auditorium. But we need to get started on the installation if we are to have it in place when the cold weather comes. I gave the OK to Kilgore Company to install. Hopefully the money will be there to pay the bill when it becomes due. The boiler cost is $31,839.00 and the cooling coil cost is $5,993.00. Let us pray for a very successful October Festival

Avance Houston sent a

proposal to Holy Name asking to lease some of our classrooms to them to work with teenager mothers and their infant children.

I e-mailed a copy of their proposal to Bishop Sheltz and he is waiting for Cardinal DiNardo to return to Houston to discuss the proposal with him.
