Lecture : 2 hrs/week (X 12 weeks = 24 h/year).
2- Aims (Module purpose) After completion of the course the student should:
- Undertake his role in health promotion of the environment and communities in which they serve.
- Interact with the public concern and suggest possible solutions for urgent health problems.
- Recognize major sources of infections and epidemiology of major human diseases.
- Be aware of the current health problems, programs, and role of the health care system in managing these problems.
- Acquire the graduates the communication skills that enable them to properly communicate with other team members and the community they service.
3- Overall aims of Course: By the end of this course the student should be able to:
A- Knowledge and Understanding Al- know the principles of microbial diseases and how to control infection.
A2-Know the sources and how to control of microbial contaminations in health care units
A3-illustrate biological weapons
A4- Identify major sources of infections and epidemiology of major human diseases.
A5-Discuss different immunological agents:
Vaccines, antitoxins, Immunoglobilines, toxoid
B- Intellectual Skills: B1-Select and asses appropriate methods of infection control to prevent infections and
promote health.
C- Professional and Practical Skills: C1- Interact with the public concern and suggest possible solutions for urgent health problems.
C2-Advice patients and other health care professionals about proper nutrition and life style.
D- General and transferable skills: D1- Acquire independent study skills and problem solving in groups for continuing professional development needs.
D2-Work effectively in a team in a variety of health care settings.
D3-Provide good advice about balanced diet to promote the efficiency of medication.
D4- Improve his communication and time management skills
