MULTIFUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS OF THE AGROFORESTRY SYSTEMS OF THE PROGRAM SEMBRANDO VIDA IN CHAHUITES, OAXACA Resumen

El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar el grado de multifuncionalidad de los sistemas agroforestales (SAF) del Programa Sembrando Vida (PSV) en el municipio de Chahuites, Oaxaca a través de variables ambientales, sociales, económicas y culturales, que permitan comprender los efectos positivos y negativos que se desprenden de estos. Para ello, se utilizó la matriz de multifuncionalidad agrícola (MMA), un indicador compuesto que permite evaluar las funciones de los sistemas de producción agrícola en los ámbitos ambiental, social, económico y cultural. Los resultados mostraron que los SAF del PSV en Chahuites, Oaxaca presentan un grado de multifuncionalidad medio alto (0.66), lo que indica que estos sistemas poseen una producción favorable de funciones en cada una de las dimensiones, pero no de manera proporcional. Entre las funciones que proveen se encuentran: Proveer servicios ecosistémicos, Evitar la erosión genética, Construir el tejido social, Mantener la identidad cultural y Generar conocimientos. En conclusión, la matriz de multifuncionalidad agrícola es una herramienta útil en el análisis de los aportes que realizan los sistemas agroforestales a sus propietarios en los ámbitos ambiental, social, económico y cultural.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the degree of multifunctionality of agroforestry systems (SAF) of the Sembrando Vida Program (PSV) in the municipality of Chahuites, Oaxaca through environmental, social, economic and cultural variables, which allow to understand the positive effects and negative that detach from these. To this end, the agricultural multifunctionality matrix (MMA) was used, a composite indicator that allows the evaluation of the functions of agricultural production systems in the environmental, social, economic and cultural ambits. The results showed that the SAF of the PSV in Chahuites, Oaxaca present a degree of multifunctionality medium-high (0.66), which indicates that these systems have a favorable production of functions in each of the dimensions, but not of way proportionally. Among the functions they provide are: Provide ecosystem services, Avoid genetic erosion, Build the social fabric, Maintain cultural identity and Generating knowledges. In conclusion, the agricultural multifunctionality matrix is a useful tool in the analysis of the contributions that realize agroforestry systems to their owners in the ambits, social, economic and cultural fields.
