Re: WellCare of New York, Inc.
Dear Provider,
As previously communicated, WellCare of New York is now part of the Centene family of health plans. Centene operates as Fidelis Care in New York State. The New York State Department of Health and Department of Financial Services approved the transaction, which closed January 23, 2020. WellCare of New York members are being notified that their health plan is now part of Centene.
Right now, nothing is changing. Please continue to treat members as you do under your current contract(s). Your existing provider support channels will remain in place and your patients’ current Member ID cards will remain valid as well.
Medicaid/MLTC:
Effective June 1, 2020, all WellCare of New York Medicaid/CHP/Essential Plan/MLTC members will become Fidelis Care members. No payments will be made to WellCare of New York providers for Medicaid/CHP/Essential Plan/MLTC services and no services will be authorized past May 31, 2020.
Members will receive a transition of care benefit after 5/31/2020, if:
• The member is getting ongoing care and treatment for up to 90 days after 5/31/2020; or
• The member is more than three months pregnant as of 5/31/2020. The care will be covered, including post-partum care.
To continue providing transition of care after 5/31/2020, the provider must agree to work with Fidelis Care on care and accept Fidelis Care’s payment rates.
Medicare:
WellCare of New York, WellCare Today’s Options (Formerly Universal American – Today’s Options) and Fidelis Care Medicare plans will continue to operate under Centene under their current names and contracts until further notice.
