Historic Preservation Advisory Commission
The Historic Preservation Advisory Commission (HPAC) is an important component of historic preservation efforts in Truckee including implementation of the Downtown Specific Plan.
HPAC is tasked with reviewing and making recommendations on projects located in the Historic Preservation Overlay District and providing direction to staff, the community, and decision-makers on the historic preservation topics. Other responsibilities include reviewing, commenting and making recommendations on:
• National Register Nominations,
• Environmental Assessments,
• Historic Inventory/Design Guideline updates, and
• Land use applications, housing and redevelopment projects, and infrastructure improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Town is currently seeking three types of members: one professional in the discipline of architecture, historic, architectural history,
planning or historic preservation, one Truckee-Donner Historical Society representative, and one lay member. Currently, these positions are filled by Vangie Wightman, Chaun Mortier, and Bill Kenny.
It is desirable that members reside, work, or own property or a business in the –Historic Preservation Overlay District. In addition to regular meetings, each commission member shall attend at least one informational or educational meeting, seminar, workshop, or conference per year that pertains directly to the work and functions of the commission.
HPAC meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 8:00 a.m.
The term of appointment runs from Appointment to November 2023.
