On The Road Drivers Education 2013-2014
Course Description:
Students will have hands on expereince on how to use good habits to create safe driving behaviors. The Southern Lehigh "On The Road" Driving Program is an approved enhansed drivers education program by the state of Pennsylvania. This program is optional to the students and must first be approved by the drivers education department and given written permission from a parent or guardian prior to starting the program. Each student must have 6 hours of "On The Road" Driving along with 30 hours of prior classroom experience before complete the entire course. After completing 6 hours of driving experience with the school district and their
combined 65 hours of total driving time (including 6 from school), they will then be able to take the road test for their Junior License.

- Driving expereince to improve good driving habits for safer driving
- Eligabilty to take road exam for driving licesne with certified school instructors.
- Qualify for 10% or more reduction on auto ensurance when completing the entire course including the 30 hours of classroom expereince.

5. Adverse Conditions/Nighttime Driving 6. City Driving

Course Requirements:
Students will need valid permit and Southern Lehigh parent permission form granting
permission for the students to drive with the school district instructors. Has successfully pased classroom drivers education by obtaining at least 30 hours of classroom time with a letter grade of D- or higher. Students will need to bring their log book for documented progression.
Students will learn the following from "On The Road "experience taught through the program:
1. Student will know how to start a car 2. Will know vehicle Controls
3. Will know pre-entry procedures/ pre-ignition procedures 4. Preparing to move
5. How to move a vehicle straight forward and backward 6. Right and left turn procedures
7. Lane change procedures

Each marking period is worth 20% of a student’s overall grade. The midterm and final exam are each worth 10% of a student’s overall average:
