La Rsnp de la rata macho contiene axones aferentes que inervan a la piel prepucial, el cuerpo del pene y al glande, eferentes somáticos que inervan al músculo uretralis, eferentes simpáticos y parasimpáticos que inervan a la glándula prepucial, al divertículo uretra, a la uretra peneana, a los cuerpos cavernosos y cuerpo esponjoso. Debido a que la rata es el principal modelo de laboratorio más utilizado en los estudios urológicos es importante tener en cuenta, al diseñar, al experimentar o discutir resultados, que la Rsnp es un nervio mixto con los componentes antes mencionados

PERSPECTIVAS

Determinar mediante anatomía gruesa e histología las características morfológicas de la glándula prepucial de la rata macho y mediante estudios de marcaje retrogrado corroborar si la glándula prepucial esta inervada por la rama sensorial del nervio pudendo.

Describir con técnicas de inmunohistoquímica, los neurotranmisores y neuropéptidos presentes en las neuronas posganglionares que se localizan en el plexo pélvico menor.

Corroborar la proporción de neuronas posganglionares en los ganglios pélvicos con la denervación de la Rsnp versus nervio cavernoso, para determinar cual de los

nervios tiene una mayor participación en la regulación de las funciones del aparato urogenital.
