a Refit the cylinder block base plate.
a Torque tighten in order the cylinder block base plate bolts (25 N.m).
a When checking or replacing the cylinder block base plate, refit the oil level sensor (see Oil level sensor:
Removal - Refitting) . WARNING
Do not scrape the joint faces of the aluminium, any damage caused to the joint face will result in a risk of leaks.
WARNING
To ensure proper sealing, the gasket surfaces must be clean, dry and not greasy (avoid any fin-ger marks).

WARNING
Applying excess sealant could cause it to be squeezed out when parts are tightened. A mix-ture of sealant and fluid could damage cer tain components (engine, radiator, etc.).

a When checking or replacing the cylinder block base plate, refit the coolant - oil heat exchanger (see Air-oil heat exchanger: Removal - Refitting) .
III - FINAL OPERATION a Refit:
- the oil filter (see Oil filter: Removal - Refitting) , - the sump (see Lower cover: Removal - Refitting)
,
- the crankshaft seal on the gearbox side (see Crankshaft seal, gearbox end: Removal - Refit-ting) ,
- the flywheel (see Flywheel: Removal - Refitting) , - the « pressure plate - disc » assembly (see Pres-sure plate - Disc: Removal - Refitting) (20A, Clutch),
- the compressor (see Compressor: Removal - Re-fitting) (62A, Air conditioning),
- a new crankshaft sprocket,
- a new « oil pump sprocket - oil pump chain » as-sembly,
- the oil pump chain tensioner spring on the cylinder block,
- the oil pump chain tensioner on its shaft,
the timing chain (see Timing chain: Removal -Refitting) ,
- the water pump pulley,
- the crankshaft seal on the timing side (see Crank-shaft seal on timing end: Removal - Refitting) . a Position the (Mot. 1431).
a Refit the crankshaft accessories pulley (see Crank-shaft accessories pulley: Removal - Refitting) . a Remove the tool (Mot. 1431).
a Refit:
the rocker cover (see Rocker cover: Removal -Refitting) ,
- the coils (see Coils: Removal - Refitting) .
a Refit the inlet distributor (see Inlet distributor: Re-moval - Refitting) .
a Refit the accessories belt (see Accessories belt:
Removal - Refitting) .
a Torque tighten the bolts on the coolant pump pul-ley (8 N.m), locking the coolant pump pulpul-ley using a screwdriver.
a Fill up the engine oil (see Engine oil: Draining - Re-filling) .
a Remove the engine from component support (see 10A, Engine and cylinder block assembly, En-gine support equipment: Use, page 10A-19) .
a Connect the manual gearbox to the engine (see Manual gearbox: Removal - Refitting) (21A, Man-ual gearbox).
a Connect the automatic gearbox to the engine (see Automatic gearbox: Removal - Refitting) (23A, Automatic gearbox).
a Refit the « engine and gearbox » assembly (see En-gine - gearbox assembly: Removal - Refitting) .

REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION a
a Drain the engine oil (see Engine oil: Draining - Re-filling) .
a Remove the engine and transmission assembly (see Engine - gearbox assembly: Removal - Refitting) .
a Place the engine on the engine stand (see 10A, En-gine and cylinder block assembly, EnEn-gine sup-port equipment: Use, page 10A-19) .
a Remove the following parts:
the throttle valve (see Throttle valve: Removal -Refitting) ,
- the inlet manifold (see Inlet distributor: Removal - Refitting) ,
- the ignition coils (see Coils: Removal - Refitting) , - the injector rail protector (see Rocker cover:
Re-moval - Refitting) ,
the rocker cover (see Rocker cover: Removal -Refitting) ,
- the accessories belt (see Accessories belt: Re-moval - Refitting) ,

- the mounting bolts from the mechanism housing (9) ,
- the mechanism housing (10) , - the clutch plate.
a Remove the following parts:
- the flywheel mounting bolts (11) , - the flywheel (12) ,
- the special tool (RSM 9248) (13) .
a Remove the following parts:
- the mounting bolts of the drive plate (14) , - the reinforcement plate (15) ,
- the drive plate (16) ,

- the special tool (RSM 9248) (17) .
a Remove the oil drain plug (18) .
a Remove the sump bolts in the order indicated.
a Remove the sump using the special tool (RSM 9100) (19) .
II - REMOVAL OF THE PARTS CONCERNED
a Remove the mounting bolts of the cylinder block lower plate in the order indicated.

a Slightly separate the two parts by inserting a flat-blade screwdriver in the parts indicated (20) and re-move the cylinder block lower plate using the special tool (RSM 9100).
a Remove the O-ring from the cylinder block lower plate.
a Remove the rear oil seal (21) .
