Operating noises are undesirable, in particu-lar, if the system is installed indoors. For this reason, the deltachiller® Turbo is equipped with a magnetically suspended and touch-free compressor technology. This way, noteworthy mechanical vibrations are not created. As a result, the sound level is extremely low – and additional constructional measures for sound protection can usually be dispensed with in their entirety.

Project-specific plant manager

The integrated control system having the form of an industry-adjusted control unit ensuring the efficient opera-tion of the refrigerating unit forms the core of the deltachil-ler Turbo.

A superior control unit in a separate control cabinet is required for interconnected operation on the part of the refrigerating machine. The cold manager has the task of controlling the optimum operating point for group-focused and partial load-optimised refrigerating machine operation for the best possible energy efficiency. To this end, it calcu-lates the optimum values on the basis of the internal control algorithms and adjusts the operating conditions to these.

As an option, controlling of the overall system can be taken over. In this case, system segments, such as re-cooling, pumps for the cold- and cooling-water-side media circula-tion or the free cooling funccircula-tion can be integrated into performance optimisation –and the overall system works even more energy efficiently with a project-specific plant manager.

Oil free is carefree

A special feature of the deltachiller® Turbo is its oil-free op-eration. This form of operation entails several advantages.

Of course, it reduces the maintenance effort required, which saves times and money. This is due to the simple fact that oil does not have to be provided and, as a result, disposed of. Moreover, compared with refrigerating systems using oil, such as e.g. screw compressor units, the annual efficiency is better without an oil pump. And, finally, the strict rules of the German Water Resources Act do not apply if the system is oil-free.

Modular maintenance during operation

A modular structure was consciously selected for the del-tachiller® Turbo: This saves time and money. The modular design on the basis of marketable components ensures direct availability, short delivery times and a trouble-free installation. Moreover, there is no need to build an exces-sive stock of spare parts.

Furthermore, this design permits the compressors to be replaced while the system is in operation without interfer-ing in the refrigeration cycle. This ensures the refrigeration supply at all times. The operating and/or industrial process-es are not affected in any way.

Ready for even the highest temperatures

The intelligently designed heat exchanges and the oil-free turbo compressor work absolutely reliably even at maximum operating temperatures. The intrinsically safe design ensures safe operation since the maximum operat-ing pressures of the heat exchangers cannot be exceeded.

As a result, the deltachiller® Turbo is significantly more leak-proof. It fulfils all valid EU guidelines and is ready for operation without safety valves.

Protection against power outages

On request, Weiss can equip the deltachiller® Turbo for operation using an uninterruptible power supply to be provided by the customer. This ensures the refrigeration supply even in the event of a potential power outage. The Turbo automatically switches to emergency operation and maintains all functions. The refrigeration supply remains stable and in line with the individual design of the plant or with the capacity of the upstream UPS system at all times.

Refrigerant monitoring

Pursuant to EN 842, leakage and leak tests are required by law up to four times per year depending on the filling quantity of the refrigerant. Weiss uses leakage detection systems in the deltachiller® Turbo. They are used to detect leakages early on and reduce the costs for the required tests.

Leakage detection systems are prescribed for all refriger-ants with filling levels >25 kg, OPD>0 and GWP>0, on principle. Even though these systems are not required for smaller filling quantities, they significantly extend the prescribed testing intervals.

The deltachiller® Turbo as a heat pump

As a special feature of the deltachiller® Turbo, it can be operated as a heat pump: In this form of operation, it produces heat instead of refrigerating.

The system optionally withdraws energy from the soil, the ground water or the outside air and, e.g., converts it into useful thermal energy through the optional double condenser. In addition to the so-called dissipation circuit, thermal energy created in the process can be recovered directly via a closed heating circuit.

Therefore, as a heat pump, the deltachiller® Turbo provides an interesting alternative to the usual heating systems, e.g. in order to heat buildings, industrial facili-ties or swimming pools.
