THE CITY

Puerto de la Cruz is the second largest tourist city on the island with accommodation for around 30,000 tourists. In contrast with the modern resorts of the south, El Puerto has had a great tradition as a place of relaxation since the end of the last century when the spa, which today is the Hotel Casino Tauro, was built. The lushness of the gardens and the agreeable atmosphere are very special features of this city, which has lively places to stroll around. Puerto de la Cruz has small beaches of volcanic sand, the best ones being Playa Jardin and Martianez, on the outskirts of the city.

THE WEATHER

Tenerife is called the “Island of eternal Spring” because of its equilibrated climate and abundant vegetation in the North. Spring temperatures dominate throughout the year. The average lies between 20-22°C. During the cooler days the thermometer doesn’t fall under 15°C and rarely gets higher than 30°C on the hotter days.

SHOPPING

Tenerife, as well as the other Canary Islands, is partly tax free area. So the prices for tobacco, spirits and perfumes are cheaper there than on the average in EU countries. Travellers returning from the Canary Islands are treated at the customs like travellers from outside the European Union.

FIRST DAY

Students need to arrive at the school on Monday at 8 AM for their level test (if Monday is a holiday you will start on Tuesday).

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS

Two weeks before your arrival, you will receive your accommodation details. Before travelling, please always double check the ‘need to know’ document where to pick-up your keys. You are expected in your accommodation on the Sunday prior your course starts (after noon). You must vacate it on the Saturday (before noon) after your last course day.

ACCOMMODATION WITH A HOST FAMILY

If you have not booked a pick-up service, you can go directly to your accommodation upon your arrival (please remember to inform us of your arrival time so that the host family knows when to expect you).

ACCOMMODATION IN A STUDENT FLAT

If you have not booked a pick-up service please check the ‘need to know’ document where to pick-up your keys.
