El límite del valor de mercado

IV. ASPECTOS CUANTITATIVOS

IV.1. El límite del valor de mercado

Igor: So we’ve covered, let’s look at this…we haven’t come to distraction but that’s very simple, you have a pain in the back over here, what’s happened to your foot whilst you had that? You didn’t realize that did you? Focus on that foot. Notice the sensation and when you come back to your back how different is it now?

Student: Diminished.

Igor: It just breaks their concentration enough that they don’t maintain whatever was going on there. So you now have five different methods that principally rest on the idea of dissociation. The idea of distraction is classically thinking about something nice, putting yourself on a nice beach or something like that, but you get the idea of where we’re coming from with this, yes?

Students: Yes.

Igor: What I’d like you to do now is to spend a couple minutes in groups of two or three, just with whoever is nearby and I want you to discuss what you’ve learned about the principle of dissociation and if you want to have the techniques again, we’ve got that classical dissociation based on language, this and that. We have a mind body dissociation, as a mind you can have this experience, as a body you can have that.

We have the idea of mind fullness, which is going the other direction.

You’re dissociating by becoming more aware of it. We have the idea of distraction, moving their attention somewhere where it wasn’t so the pain can recede.

The classic Erickson story is, you know, if you’re all in pain can you experience the pain. If a tiger walks into the room licking its chops, how would you feel? I’d feel completely different, my goodness the pain is gone. That’s another form of dissociation, by distracting the person. We

So, spend a few moments talking to each other about what you’ve learned and how you might implement dissociation yourself.

Covert Communication

Igor: All right, some interesting stuff yes. I’d like to impress something upon you in terms of what you’re doing here. Do you notice how most of the mannerisms we do are very casual, like focus on the pain, half of it and discard one of them and do whatever, just focus on this one here. It’s a very casual instruction. Whilst attention goes to half of their key pain, the unconscious mind is free to act on the suggestion we are the half, because they’re no longer putting attention on it in a way that hold sit.

Have any of you wondered why I haven’t invited my pain control subjects to come up here to do the demo on? You notice how it’s always done in the chair? The only one who came up here was one who had already been halfway through the process before she came up. Any idea as to why?

Because I do not want their conscious mind to have any idea of when I’m starting, because as soon as I start their defenses go up and go it’s my pain I’m going to hold onto it, work like this because I have had this for years and you’re going to have to work to get rid of this one.

I want to catch them unaware. As soon as they sit up here they know it’s going to happen, but can I work like that? Of course I can, but it makes life much harder. If a client comes in for a pain control session, I will need to disarm them first. Look, before we go into any of the actual change work, I

Hypnotic Pain Control ©Street Hypnosis All Rights Reserved know you want to stop the pain but I need to understand a little more about what’s going on with you. Is that okay with you?

Student: Sure.

Igor: Before we hadn’t started yet, so on a scale of 1 to 10 where is it?

Student: Six.

Igor: As you pay attention to it, I assume you’ve done all the pre-frame and stuff for that, has it changed yet?

Student: Maybe it’s like a 5 ½ now.

Igor: Okay, fair enough. How do you do that?

Student: I don’t know.

Igor: And we’re straight in. I just double checked it’s already shifted and by definition, it’s already working isn’t it? Oh, you seem to be pretty good at this. Do you think if you wait a little longer it will drop a little more?

Student: Yes, it just did.

Igor: What is it now?

Student: Now it’s a four.

Igor: This is not unrealistic role play is it, because this is the same conversation we had over here? But part of it is, especially when they are chronic sufferers of pain, they’ve had it for so long it’s almost like a defense mechanism. They’ll catch onto it to prove to you it’s a real thing, but I don’t need proof I’d rather have the results.

Hypnotic Pain Control ©Street Hypnosis All Rights Reserved Do you see how that works? The more casual you can be the more relaxed about the whole thing, the easier and more naturally it flows. I just wanted to throw that out to you, because I want you to understand that a lot of this stuff is possible, but really it’s not like take one half and throw it out the window and focus on the other half…that’s clunky and mechanical. It doesn’t work that way.

It’s very casual and the more casual the reference the better. I saw this once on the TV show Big Brother. There’s a great example of exactly this sort of suggestion and action. You had the round table and they were all discussing some big things and you have the natural leader in the group with everyone saying, how should we do this? He goes well, I think we should all take turns, walk around and just say what’s on our minds. Who wants to go first? Guess who it was? The person sitting right there, do you know why?

Let me give it to you again...what should we do? I don’t know. You know what I think we should take turns to speak what’s on our mind. Did you spot it this time?

Students: Yes.

Igor: Do you think it would have worked if I’d said, we should all take it in turns to say what’s on our mind, would that have worked anywhere near the same?

Students: No.

Igor: Because they had become alerted to it consciously, it’s all those things you do subtly in the background without anyone really paying attention to it that can have one of the biggest impacts. Does that make sense?

Students: Yes.
