VU WORK ETHIC

Robert Hadded is an alumnus who now hires VU graduates because of their strong work ethic. “VU helped breed in us a work ethic that we see in VU graduates today, and we have been employing VU graduates since 2002.

My lecturers taught me more than just the discipline of business and accounting. I learnt to think independently, take pride in my study and bring the best to whatever I do – traits that all VU graduates I’ve employed possess.

It’s great that we can now offer VU graduates and current students work experience in our business. “

CROWNING THE BEST

Former VU graduate Paula Ntalianis started an internship at Crown, an entertainment complex, nearly 15 years ago and has since continued to support the University’s Work-Integrated-Learning program. “The program at Victoria University prepares students for real life industry experience. Over the last 10 years, Crown has employed over 30 students, and we’ve had some amazing successes with graduates who have built their careers here. Students have started in frontline roles and progressed to more specialised roles upon graduation.

My advice to anyone thinking of pursuing a career in tourism and hospitality is to be open-minded, work hard and take every opportunity to learn from others.”

LEARNING FROM THE BEST

Principal Colin Schot believes VU’s education programs prepare graduates with a good grounding in teaching and learning to fi nd success as educators. “We have successfully employed VU graduates since 2010 and will continue to do so. I’ve found VU graduates to be enthusiastic, committed and well-prepared to enter teaching positions at Warringa Park School. I value graduates who are able to learn, take on responsibility and show initiative, and VU graduates never fail to demonstrate this.

VU placements allows the school to gain an intimate knowledge of the students skills and the competencies in light of possible future employment opportunities.”

VU’S UNIQUE GRADUATES

Meenah Marchbank supports the high calibre of students that graduate from VU’s Education programs. She has employed a number of VU graduates in the past few years.

“VU graduates come from a diverse range of backgrounds. We celebrate this diversity and appreciate the richness it brings.

The multicultural graduates from Victoria University allow our students from similar cultural backgrounds to really connect.

I consider VU graduates for roles because the course selection process helps identify students who are passionate about education. The fl exible pathways into VU teaching degrees capture the students who really want to be teachers. “
