Deuteronomy 7:26 says,

Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it:

but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

Many Christians unwittingly bring abominations into the home. Statues of the Virgin Mary, different saints, Kwan Yin, Buddha, Shiva, carvings of tiki gods, books on the occult, fortune telling, stones and rocks from heathen temples, paintings of Roman and other gods, tarot cards, I-Ching books, ceramic and macrame

depictions of frogs, owls, dragons, and other demonic objects are often found in Christian homes, posing as art objects and decorations. These cursed things bring strange diseases that doctors cannot diagnose, divorces, rebellious children, arguments, accidents, and oppression.

Demons will not leave until the cursed objects are taken out of the house or destroyed. In one case I dealt with, sleep eluded a woman because she had hung a black velvet painting of a dragon over her bed.

Whenever she tried to sleep in her own room she found it almost impossible. However, when she traveled, she could sleep for twelve hours at a time. In another similar situation, a part Hawaiian woman tormented by nightmares and nocturnal spectral visitations finally gained peace by ridding her bedroom of a painting of the Hawaiian shark-god, her family´s guardian spirit or

"aumakua."

Rock-and-roll records, Dungeon and Dragon games, good-luck oriental dolls, samurai swords (the real kind), martial arts magic words (called "hus"), Buddhist altars, Aztec carvings, and souvenirs manufactured by Hare Krishna followers have all been the sources of curses.

Often, seemingly innocent objects have been manufactured by Buddhists and followers of strange religions who pray over their products and "bless" them.

Well-meaning friends pin good-luck charms on children or give away occultic crystals and wind chimes that are actually objects of Hindu, Buddhist, or Taoist worship.

I frequently find that certain jewelry may bring curses. Turquoise jewelry made by Pueblo Indians,

Hindu copper bracelets, and other objects worn by a person could be of demonic origin. The makers of pieces of jewelry or furniture sometimes pray in order to place a spirit in those objects. In one case, a person wore a ring which depicted a goat´s head—a symbol of Satan.

In another, a ring featured a skull and crossbones. In still another case, a woman wore earrings of a crescent moon and stars. When these forbidden items were taken off, the demons left during deliverance.

Christians have reported cases of demonic invasion caused by Japanese dolls, puppets, Smurfs, cabbage patch dolls, and rock-and-roll records. I know a pastor who claims that he heard voices in his daughter´s room one night and went in to check. He knew no one was at home. As he walked towards his daughter´s room, he definitely heard voices. When he opened the door and switched the light on, he saw his daughter´s doll collection staring at him. It so "spooked" him, that he took all the dolls outside and threw them into the rubbish can. After disposing of the dolls, his daughter´s emotional problems lessened considerably. In another case, a member of our local church reported that his six-year-old child became frightened one night because her doll started talking to her.

I often come across rock-and-roll spirits that cause a person to dance, weave, and sing rock and roll songs during deliverance. Rock-and-roll music, especially

"heavy metal," is tied to violence, murder, and drugs. I recall one young woman engaged in snapping her fingers and wild singing as we called out those spirits.

Many hard rock groups spice their songs with praises to

Satan and other similar demonic epithets. Some of these groups employ back-masking of tapes and records. Play some records or tapes backwards, and you hear praises to Satan. Some records contain lyrics designed to worship Satan or some demonic chant. Others sneak in words. For instance, if you take every tenth word in some lyrics and paste them together, they form some demonic statement which the human mind subconsciously picks up. Rock-and-roll records stored under the bed brought about sexual lust and masturbation in one reported case.

The crucifix with the body of Christ hanging from the cross is used in satanic rituals. Devil worshippers delight in seeing a dead Jesus on the cross. It is the resurrection they don´t like. A close friend had a neighbor who claimed that his office was haunted. When he first moved in, he noticed a crucifix left there by the prior tenant. He vowed to rid the place of all such objects, in an attempt to cleanse the place. When he removed the crucifix and carried it into his car, it started to bleed. Drops of blood fell to the ground and on his automobile. He hurriedly threw it away. The place has not been "haunted" since.

Bleeding and crying statues make up part of the Babylonian lore, and many legends about statues speaking and becoming human can be found in heathen religions. Statues and idols are, of course, contrary to Christian teachings.

A man in his forties attended a talk I recently gave about deliverance. After the talk, he seemed very depressed and asked for help. He related that he could

not understand a spiritual oppression that had set in five years previous. When pressed about his past, he suddenly recalled that five years prior he had played games such as Dungeons and Dragons constantly. Now, whenever someone mentioned the words "elf" or

"sorcerer," his heart started beating faster and his body shook. Needless to say, those games had caused his spiritual oppression, and when they were repented for and destroyed, it lifted.

Pornographic materials are also demonic. Their presence in a home brings all kinds of problems with sexual lust, masturbation, and lack of mental concentration. They bring other manifestations besides sexual lust. It opens the gates to homosexuality, sexual fantasy, fornication, adultery, perversion, sexual uncleanness, incest, bestiality, and many other sexual spirits that belong within the ugly nest of sexual sins.

Children´s cartoons and movies provide fertile ground for openings to satanic mind control. I was shocked one Saturday morning while observing my young son watching cartoons on television. Every cartoon seemed demonic. Smurfs, He-Man, monsters, demons, snakes, and other animals appeared as heroes.

Movies such as Star Wars promote New Age ideas of a universal force and meditation. "The Force" is none other than the universal power or entity called "Tao" or the universal vibration or being which Buddhists, Hindus, and Taoists worship. Lifting up objects by the power of the mind as Luke Skywalker did is one of satanists´ and martial artists´ favorite lures. These movies increase men´s desire for power and personal

exaltation through self-improvement using meditation and other techniques.

Of course, we can become too legalistic. One cannot consider all representations of dragons, for instance, as cursed. The encyclopedia and other books sometimes contain pictures of oriental paintings or decorations which contain dragons or depictions of Buddha. It would be ridiculous to tear out every page which pictures a Buddhist temple or similar thing, although I generally consider all occult "how to" books definitely demonic.

You need to ask the Holy Spirit about certain borderline items. Some people refuse to part with their objects, but expect God to bless the objects, while others anoint the object expecting to balance out any demonic influence.

This is pure folly and will not bring about the desired results.

Tattoos

Leviticus 19:28 says, "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD. " Body tattoos can bring curses. Tattooing involves the insertion of fine needles and the placing of dye into the punctures in order to form a pattern. One female Marine followed Navy traditions of obtaining a tattoo and vowing to "raise hell." Demons tormented this young woman day and night. She saw shadows and felt things grabbing her and carrying her while she slept. When the young woman renounced the tattoo and asked God to close all gates, the demons responded by attempting to scratch my eyes out. They screamed obscenities and spat at me. It took

six people to hold her down, but the demons fled after a few moments.

Sorcerers often pass on their powers or demons through a tattoo on the body of a disciple or descendant.

Small wonder that God forbade the Israelites to mark their bodies in such a fashion.

Women sometimes ask me about cosmetic tattooing where lip color and eye shadow are tattooed in permanently. I don´t know the answer to that one, although it would seem that once you know that the Bible warns about disfiguring your body or placing marks on it, marking your body for cosmetic purposes would be sinful. If you are unsure and do it anyway, it is without faith and any cosmetic purposes would be sinful. If you are unsure and do it anyway, it is without faith and anything done without faith is sin. "And he that doubteth is damned... for whatsoever is not of faith is sin" (Rom. 14:23).
