As with every other team sport to attain popularity in the last three thousand years, the devotees of Weltball tend to cherish an almost fanatical devotion to their chosen team. Paradoxically, though, this loyalty rarely extends to individual players, and there are almost no ‘stars’ in the antique sense of the word. This is doubtless due to the unfortunate truth that there is no factor more likely than sustained exceptional personal performance to make a player into a target for the entire opposing team, thereby reducing the percentage chance of that player surviving a given match to somewhere in the low single figures. - attr: Jasper McAvery, Commissioner, WWL

ARCFURY- (1) Arc Fury were created by Richenbacher as a way to showcase the effectiveness of their plasma weapons in melee combat. The plan worked and the amount of severing that occurs in an Arc Fury match is unrivaled. The team are paid a bonus depending on how much chopping they do so usually end up doing more severing than scoring.

HORSES OF CHROME (1) - A retro team hailing from the famous Midnight City (formerly Detroit). Their style harks back to a day when chrome, rock and hair were all that mattered and although they are a respectable team their determination to take everything to ‘the edge’ with ‘total attitude’ stops them taking the game too seriously.

THEFREEBALLERS(4) - An powerful team backed by a mysterious and powerful individual, they are one of the most skillful of all teams. The Freeballers recruit from other teams offering incredible amounts of cash to those who will join their ranks. They are generally disliked by the public who see them as very commercial, pillaging other squads rather than building their own.

CARDINALSIN(1) - This team claims allegiance to the Order of the True Faith but Order officials denounce any connection. The use of high tech for playing a brutal sport is not in keeping with the orders ideologies. At the end of the day though, these fanatics play a reasonable game and have the support of many hardened, old- school religious zealots.

GUILTYWITHOUTJUDGEMENT(4)

The UIG first started fielding their own team in 2407 and although they don’t get much public support are very accomplished and successful. They use a good range of high tech equipment and often include Malenbrach and Rangers in their squad.

BETTING ON WELTBALL

BETTING ON WELTBALL

You should encourage players to have a favourite team and lay bets on them whenever possible. Here is the basic system. Look at the rating for each team and compare the difference. If the team you are betting on is 2 points better than the opposition you will make a 30% profit on your bet if you win. I.e. if you bet 100 credits on Black Ballet (4) to beat Full Auto (2) you will make 130 credits if they win.

Who Wins

Weltball is an inherently unpredictable game and a few unexpected deaths can really turn things around. Use this simple system to determine a winner For each team the GM should roll a D10 and add on the rating. The team with the highest total wins the match.

For example, Blazing Red (3) play The Iron Talons (2). The GM rolls a 5 for Blazing Red (total 8) and a 9 for Iron Talon (total 11). The Iron Talons win! - If you were betting on the Iron Talons you would have made a 60% profit.
