7.2 MECANISMOS DE PARTICIPACIÓN CIUDADANA EN EL CONTEXTO SIN COVID-19

3.6.1 How does the institution promote institution-neighborhood-community network and student engagement, contributing to good citizenship, service orientation and holistic development of students?

The academic requirements like field work, community organization programmes provides good scope for student to learn from social realities and eventually they can contribute to the social welfare.

Institute has a good collaboration and networking with various organizations and good network in neighborhood community It offers various programmes at college level and other institutional level. The college promotes institutions neighborhood networking through field work, placement. Moreover the institution -supervisors meet and frequent visit of College supervisors to agencies is also helpful to build up relation with the other institution. Some work of College within the community is mentioned further which tells more about this:

2. Organization of eye check up camps for local community 3. Blood donation camps

4. Health guidance program for community activities 5. Rural camp

6. Environment awareness programmes at the village and community level.

7. Community Learning Movement in Deolapar, Ramtek etc.

10. Participation in Camps and programmes organized by placement agencies and local agencies.

3.6.2 What is the Institutional mechanism to track students’ involvement in various social movements / activities which promote citizenship roles?

The institution has different cell e.g. Field Work Practicum, NSS, Adult Educationand Extension Cell, and Women Cell which serves for this purpose.

Constructive work is done in relation to the different issues of social development. These committees plans the future projects.

Groups are made according to the needs of the student and supervisors are assigned to the same. The student actively participate in the propagation of different schemes like HIV/AIDS, awareness regarding the constitution, disaster management, issues and programmmes related to health, propagation of different schemes of the department of the social justice.

Our students have actively participated in different programmes within the community such as:

 Aids Rally (NACO)

 Rally to stop Female foerticide

 Sadbhawna rally

 Working as Police Mitra

 Eye check up camps for community

 Arranging Blood donation camps

 Health guidance program for community

 Rural camp

 Environment awareness programme at the village level.

 Community Learning Movement Deolapar Block ,Tahsil Ramtek

 Organizing National Service Scheme(NSS) camp at village level.

 Collection of National Flag – thrown in community

 Health Camps

3.6.3 How does the institution solicit stakeholder perception on the overall performance and quality of the institution?

The college is well recognized and appreciated by the government agencies, NGOs, Corporate organizations, Industries and Local agencies in communities for its extension activities. Time to time they organize programmes in collaboration with college and college also involve them in its extension activities.

3.6.4 How does the institution plan and organize its extension and outreach programmes? Providing the budgetary details for last four years, list the major extension and outreach programmes and their impact on the overall development of students.

The Institution has appointed various committees for the extension work. The meetings of these committees are called regularly; the institution organizes various extension programmes as per the guidelines in the social work curriculum. Apart from this, various programmes are organized by NSS, Environmental Cell, SC/ST Cell, and Adult Education and Extension services cell. Among this, only NSS procures fund from the University. Moreover the other cell organizes their different activities on the fund provided by institution. Some more programmes organized by the college such as:

o Work shop on Stress Management o Awareness programs on social Issues.

o Celebration of Samvidhan Din o Organizing Aids rally

o Activities under Population Education programs

o Vruddha Mitra

o Stress management workshops for board students o Help work

3.6.5 How does the institution promote the participation of students and faculty in extension activities including participation in NSS, NCC, YRC and other National/ International agencies?

Students are encouraged for being involved in NSS and various extension activities. The NSS Unit of the college is recognized by the University. Every year number of students from the college are enrolled into the Unit. The enrolled students work as the volunteers in the programmes organized by NSS as the extension activity in the college. Apart from this student also work with following agencies, name of some agencies are as follows:

o ICDS centers

o Vishvodaya/Human Touch counseling centre and Mahila cell o Adim Jati Sevak Sangh

o Kamgar Kalyan Kendra

o Sub District Hospital- counselling o Aids Control Society

o Sub District Hospital, Kamptee o Yuwa Parivartan

3.6.6 Give details on social surveys, research or extension work (if any) undertaken by the college to ensure social justice and empower students from under-privileged and vulnerable sections of society?

College deploys various programme like survey, research on the social problems or issues. Colleges also organize PRA mapping and Community learning movement in rural areas. College also organizes Awareness programs, Sanitation programs in local community and villages, Social movements on Female Feticide, Dowry, etc. Institute also provides help in surveys for HIV AIDS, BPL Families etc. College also involved actively in extension work for the various socio economical segments of the local community. For this, programme likes guidance on Cancer, Adolescence guidance programme formation on Bachat Gat or Self Employment and entrepreneurship have

3.6.7 Reflecting on objectives and expected outcomes of the extension activities organized by the institution, comment on how they complement students’

academic learning experience and specify the values and skills inculcated.

The students learn many things such as skills and values. Students learn that how in real life settings problems and issues can be resolved, therefore they learn and develop skills for professional success. Communication skills, documentation skills, problem solving skills and life skill are acquired by the students, which helps them in getting employment. Much more knowledge acquire by the student from the community work through Concurrent Practice learning. Workshops are also conducted through skill development program.

The students practically bring the theory into practice, while they work in the village during the rural camp organized by NSS. They learn about Social survey, PRA, planning of the programme, organization, coordination, reporting, budgeting etc. All these components are used scientifically to achieve the expected outcomes of learning at the broader level.

3.6.8 How does the institution ensure the involvement of the community in its reach out activities and contribute to the community development? Detail on the initiatives of the institution that encourage community participation in its activities?

The institute, through students and faculty attempts to involve whole community to resolve the various community problems. Through participatory rural Appraisal (PRA), rapport is established between the rural community and the student/college. It ultimately leads to the active participation of the people in the developmental programmes of the community, Awareness programs in the community regarding different issues as well as existing problems, Sanitation programs in community and villages, Programmes on Female Feticide, Dowry etc. are organized by college. These efforts encourage community participation in its activities.

3.6.9 Give details on the constructive relationships forged (if any) with other institutions of the locality for working on various outreach and extension activities.

Institute has developed constructive relationships with other institutions of the locality such as Adim Jati Sewak Sangh, Sub District Hospital, Police Station, and

Kamgar Kalyan Mandal for working on various outreach and extension activities.

3.6.10 Give details of awards received by the institution for extension activities and/contributions to the social/community development during the last four years.

Institute extends its services to local organization as and when they require but it depends on availability of students and the study matters. We include these works in help works but we have no agreements and MOUs with any such agency. Several organizations have approached the institution for carrying out Survey research e.g.

Power Tealer. Recently, Tata Institute of Social Science,Mumbai has conducted assessment of Ashramshala of Nagpur District and our faculty Mr. Shashikant V. Dange and Students and Alumni of the college worked as the team member in the Assessment teams. Similarly, linkage with such organization is established time to time.

3.7.6 Detail on the systemic efforts of the institution in planning, establishing and implementing the initiatives of the linkages/collaborations.

The institute has good collaborations and linkages with many local and external agencies. We have a good history of working with these organizations, as it is the only institute of social work in the region. However we have conducted many programmes with these organizations. The institute welcomes such plans and extends its efforts to implement the programmes.
