The results presented from the proceeding chapter, have clearly revealed that most of the wild plants particularly C. ecirrhosus that have been under utilized and abandoned out of ignorance, could be a good potential source of nutrition. The seed is enriched with protein containing essential amino acids, appreciable amount of important mineral elements (largely K, Mg, Zn, Fe, and Cu with little amount of Ca, Na, Mn and P) and carbohydrate which is enough to furnish the body with the required calories. Also, according to the analyses, fifty percent of the total composition of the seed is lipid, which is mainly unsaturated fatty acid with small amount of saturated fatty acid. This made the oil a very qualitative and suitable for both industrial and domestic activities. Although some antinutritional fators present in the seed were in higher concentration, their effects could be reduced to a minimum in the event of meal preparation involving the seeds condiment.
4.2 Recommendation
From the results of the analyses and the proceeding discussions, the following recommendations were made;
a. Toxicological studies should be carried out to investigate other anti nutritive factors not covered by this research, or the research be reviewed to ascertain the extent of the present factors.
b. Studies on the medicinal potentials of the other components of fruits of C. ecirrhosus should be conducted so as to furnish detailed information about the potentials of the plant to the community for maximum utilization.
c. Effect of processing on the nutritional content of the seed should be carried out.
d. Investigation should also be conducted on biogas and bioethanol production from the corticated seed, considering the high carbohydrate content.
e. Comparative analysis should be carried out on the nutritional and antinutritional composition between corticated and decorticated seed of C. ecirrhosus.
