The table below provides a stocktake of changes made to the endorsed components of the Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package over 2013.
SIT12 TOuRISM, TRAvEL AND HOSPITALITy TRAININg PACKAgE
Brief summary of change Industry Imperatives/Rationale for Change Date submitted to office of the
SIT12 v2 included two new units of competency:
• SITHIND101 Use hygienic practices for hospitality service
• SITTTSL314 Provide specialist advice on cruises
SITXFSA101 Use hygienic practices has was removed from the core and SITXFSA101 Use hygienic practices for food safety and SITHIND101 Use hygienic practices for hospitality service has been packaged as a mandatory Group A Elective within the following qualifications:
• SIT10213 Certificate I in Hospitality
• SIT20213 Certificate II in Hospitality
• SIT30713 Certificate III in Hospitality
• SIT40313 Certificate IV in Hospitality
• SIT50313 Diploma of Hospitality
• SIT60313 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality
SITXCOM201 Show social and cultural sensitivity was moved from an elective to a core unit SIT20213 Certificate II in Hospitality.
During the development of SIT12 v2, the unit HLTFA311A Apply first aid was replaced by HLTAID003 Provide first aid. This unit was packaged within the core of the following qualifications and were, therefore, updated:
• SIT30513 Certificate III in Guiding
• SIT30813 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• SIT30913 Certificate III in Asian Cookery
• SIT31013 Certificate III in Catering Operations
• SIT31113 Certificate III in Patisserie
• SIT40413 Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
The development of SITTTSL314 Provide specialist advice on cruises and SITHIND101 use hygienic practices for hospitality service responds directly to needs of both the hospitality and travel industry and provide an opportunity for graduates to develop appropriate skills for the workforce.
The addition of SITXCOM201 Show social and cultural sensitivity within the core of the SIT20213 Certificate II in Hospitality ensures that graduates who complete training at a certificate II level are appropriately skilled to work in a multicultural workforce.
Training packages which import units of competency from other Training Packages must ensure that imported units are updated at every opportunity within the Training Package continuous improvement cycle.
updating a first aid unit within the core of qualifications ensures that graduates are able to receive the most up to date and relevant first aid training.
The changes to the Evidence Guide for SITHFAB201 Provide responsible service of alcohol respond directly to feedback received from the hospitality industry and provide clarity around the requirements and the environment for assessment. These changes ensure that prospective hospitality industry employees are able to access appropriate training to obtain this unit of competency, along with the occupational licensing.

SIT40112 Certificate IV in Guiding updated the entry requirements by replacing HLTFA311A Apply first aid with HLTAID003 Provide first aid.

SIT30512 Certificate III in Guiding packaging rules were corrected.
A number of units of competency had a change in equivalency status. The following qualifications had changes to elective units:
• SIT30712 Certificate III in Hospitality
• SIT40312 Certificate IV in Hospitality
• SIT40412 Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
• SIT50312 Diploma of Hospitality
• SIT60312 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality
The establishment of new skill sets within SIT12 v1.2 has been driven by industry and responds directly to a range of industry needs.
updates to equivalency are required for correct understanding and interpretation of the Training Package so graduates of qualifications are skilled to meet industry requirements.
This update has also enabled training providers to make the correct judgements when awarding a credit transfer.
A number of qualifications have had units removed from elective groups or added to elective groups for the following reasons:
• units have been added to elective groups when it has been identified that some job roles within the qualification may require this skill.
• units have been removed from
qualification elective groups when it has been identified that skill is either not required by all job roles, or that skill has been subsumed by another unit already within the qualification.
