A speedy, playmaking linebacker, Akeem Jordan quickly progressed from the practice squad in 2007 to the starting WILL linebacker mid- way through the 2008 season. Originally an undrafted free agent out of Division I-AA James Madison in 2007, Jordan is an instinctive player with great range and a knack for special teams.

2009 HIGHLIGHTS

• Ranks third on the team with a career-high 78 tackles despite playing in just 11 games

• Has notched two interceptions, becoming the first Eagles line- backer to record two picks in the same season since Ike Reese in 2004

• Snagged an interception off Saints QB Drew Brees vs. NO (9/20), becoming the first Eagle linebacker with interceptions in consec- utive games in 14 years, since William Thomas in 1995.

• Notched his first-career sack and his first-career interception (QB Jake Delhomme) in the same game at Car. (9/13)

BIRDSEED

• Played four years at division I-AA James Madison University, where he won a National Championship

in 2004. "There are a lot of great players that came out of division I-AA, and I'm glad I got the chance to make it to the NFL," said Jordan. "It's something that motivates me every day. I'm constantly trying to prove that I'm able to play at this level."

• In 2007, Jordan became the first player from JMU to start in a NFL game since WR Macey Brooks started three games for the Bears in 2000. He also became

one of five former Dukes to start in the NFL (Brooks, WR Gary Clark, DE Charles Haley, TE Ed Perry)

INJURY REPORT

• Was rendered inactive games 9-12 with a knee injury • Suffered a hyper-extended knee vs. Dal (11/8/09)

A second-round draft choice of the Eagles in 2006, Winston Justice has developed into one of the most productive performers on the Eagles offensive line and has helped the Eagles post one of the high- est point totals in the league in 2009. A native of Long Beach, Jus- tice earned the team’s starting right tackle job this summer with an impressive preseason performance and inked a four-year contract extension on 11/24/09 that will keep him in Philadelphia through 2013.

BIRDSEED

• Took up surfing during the 2008 off- season and has since continued to teach himself and improve. "I'd done it here and there growing up in Cali- fornia, but I really got into it in Costa Rica. Just the thrill of catching a

wave, you can't describe it...Right now I’m using a long board be- cause it’s easier for me to balance, but I might graduate to a shorter board at some point.”

• Considering himself a very spontaneous person, Winston signed up for a two-week mission to Uganda following the 2006 season. "These areas were so poor. They didn't have running water, elec- tricity or any modern luxuries. We slept on the floor of their church and we ate what they ate. Mostly it was something they called mooshoo, some kind of corn meal mix we ate with our hands. If we were lucky, someone would catch a fish, but that wasn't very good either."

He was amazed that everybody there knew at least a little English, so communicating was not very tough. Most days, he and his friends would simply play with the kids and he even taught them to play football.

"They kept just wanting to kick the football I brought because they thought what I was teaching them was more like soccer. It would be great to go back there and teach them everything about foot- ball."

• During the 2009 offseason, was enrolled in an exclusive NFL Busi- ness Management and Entrepreneurial workshop at Wharton, where he took a crash course in all different areas of business. “It was really valuable to hear from experts and be able to ask them questions.” Teammate Victor Abiamiri was also enrolled in the class

Favorite NFL offensive lineman: Tony Boselli, “He was a USC guy too. He was so aggressive and such a technician. Every of- fensive lineman that goes to SC wants to be him. He gave me one great piece of advice, 'Always set square and don't turn your shoulders.'

What he enjoys about being an offensive lineman: “I love work- ing hard and that's the reputation that O-linemen have. I also like the competition every single play.”

Winston's words to live by: “Be who you are! For a while I was very selfish and then I decided it was time for me to change my attitude. Becoming a better person was important to me and service work has helped a lot. Everybody has the ability to help others inside of them.”
