A rookie free agent signing from Delaware State in 2003, Jamaal Jackson utilized his big frame and a strong work ethic to earn a starting role in the middle of the Eagles offensive line in 2005. He was thrust into the starting lineup for an injured Hank Fraley and started 71 consecutive games before suffering a season-ending torn ACL on 12/27/09 vs. Denver.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
• Was named to Peter King’s (Sports Illustrated) All-Pro team fol- lowing the 2006 season
INJURY REPORT
• Suffered a torn ACL vs. Den. (12/27/09) and will be sidelined for the remainder of the year
BIRDSEED
• Made an impressive climb from Division I-AA Delaware State to a being a starter in the NFL. “Being in the NFL this long, you realize the guy from the bigger school is giong to get the better shot,” said Jack- son.”But I’m proud to be from Delaware State. It made me the hard worker I am today.” ... At Delaware State, Jackson’s teams made just one airplane
trip per season (to either Florida A&M or Bethune Cookman) as they traveled by bus with the longest trip being 13 hours to South Carolina State.
• With his mother, Sadie Smith, unable to work because of severe diabetes, Jackson took jobs as a supermarket clerk and in a recreation center to help support his family in high school. "I got first-hand experience paying bills at the age of 17." Jackson is in the process of forming his own foundation for diabetes, and hopes to get it off the ground soon. "There's not enough people who are aware of the severity of this disease. It's a serious disease. It was bad for my mother. At one point, she weighed 60 pounds. She couldn't work. That was rough on all of us." ... Jamaal bought his mom a house in Miami in the 2007 offseason
Center of attention: Said Jackson of playing center: “It’s the quarterback of the o-line. The center has to be one of the smartest guys on the field.” However, Jackson wants to rein- vent the center position as more than just the brains of the op- eration. Weighing in at 330 pounds, he prides himself as being the biggest center in the NFL. “I'm trying to bring a new di- mension to the position, because I'm just as big as most guards.”
Favorite O-lineman: Jermane Mayberry. “I really admire his character, his demeanor, and the way he carries himself. He is so soft spoken, but is real tough on the field. By talking to him you would never know he plays professional football.” “Jack” of all trades: Started 45 consecutive games at Delaware State, seeing action at all five O-line positions. Also was a back- up long snapper and played d-line in goal line situations.

Honors his late brother, Kama, who was tragically killed in a car accident in Miami early in the 2008 season, by writing “RIP KJ” underneath the hand towel he wears during each game. Ja- maal has saved all of those tow- els in his locker at the NovaCare Complex. Said Jamaal, “I think about him all the time and pray for and support his kids and my sister-in-law, Quady.”

A burly guard with good athletic ability, Max Jean-Gilles (pro- nounced gene-GILL-iss) is a monstrous force on the offensive line. Originally a fourth-round draft choice of the Eagles in 2006, Jean- Gilles has been impressive when given the opportunity both as a starter and reserve guard since 2008.
2009 HIGHLIGHTS
• Started at RG in games 2-5
BIRDSEED
• Attributes his football success to the intense coaches he has had. Likens his high school coach, Jeff Brittani, to Jon Gruden for his "angry" temperament. "I couldn't deal with a quiet coach. Brit- tani, [Georgia head coach] Mark Richt, and now Juan Castillo are all in-your-face type of guys. You wouldn't know it to talk to him, but Juan is a fierce coach. That's why he's one of the best." • Goes back to train at his high
school in Miami in the offsea- son. "The reason is that I hon- estly think that high school football was harder than col- lege. Every day at practice, you run for miles, then you prac- tice, and then you run again. They break you down before they build you back up." • His greatest hobby is his love
for music. He was forced to buy a larger iPod after com-
pletely filling his 60 GB iPod. He enjoys all kinds of music, but pre- dominantly listens to Hip Hop and R&B. Some of his favorite artists are: T.I., Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, and Trick Daddy. "I had to get a bigger iPod just to fit all my music on there. I love all kinds of music and I am a big fan of up-and-coming artists from the south. I'd really like to learn to play the guitar, too."
INJURY REPORT
• Was rendered inactive at Was. (10/26/09) and vs. NYG (11/1/09) with a shoulder injury
The O-lineman he admires most: C Nick Jones (Seattle Sea- hawks) - “Nick and I played side-by-side at Georgia. If I had a tough day he would pick me up and I would do the same for him. We competed all the time and made each other so much better.”
What he loves most about being an O-lineman: “I love to be able to push people around. If I have a bad day, I get paid to take it out on somebody.” IN THE TRENCHES YEAR TEAM GP/GS 2006 Phil 0/0 2007 Phil 4/1 2008 Phil 12/10 2009 Phil 12/4 Totals 28/15 Playoffs YEAR TEAM GP/GS 2006 Phil 0/0 Totals 0/0
