2.1. Realidad aumentada

Just as with the standard BEAT we will now condition the anchors by having the subject step through the four points a number of times. Each time to be done slightly faster, so that each of the four points, and the four anchors, begin to run into each other, creating a seamless flow of experience from physical to emotional, to sensory to thoughts.

After we have conditioned the anchors, we will future pace by having the modeler imagine being in the environment where he wants to be like the model, or actually go to that place, and fire off the BEAT anchors. They can literally step into the model’s state whenever it is appropriate.

Below you will find a demonstration of the BEAT for DTI, taken from a recent course. One interesting thing about this demonstration is that the subject is going to use Bruce Lee, the famous Kung Fu master and movie star, as a model in an entirely different context, that of sales.

Coach: What is the specific time and place you would like to be more like Bruce Lee?

Modeler: When I’m making a sale.

Coach: And what is it about Bruce Lee that makes him your ideal model in sales?

Modeler: It’s about how he is able to read the other person’s move before they do it. He also has this type of calmness and certainty.

Coach: And those are wonderful traits to have in a sales interaction.

Modeler: Yes.

Coach: What I’d like for you to do is just come stand over here.

That’s right. Now see Bruce Lee standing in front of you, because in a moment something amazing is going to happen. When you and Mr. Lee are ready, you can see Bruce multiply himself, so there are four versions of him lined up in front of you. Each of these Bruces is a reflection of one of the elements of that ideal state.

The first Bruce Lee represents his body and physiology when he is able to read others and act with calm certainty.

The second embodies his emotions and how it feels to be calm and certain.

The third is the Bruce Lee who has extraordinary awareness, tracking everything that is important in that moment, and able to read others with ease.

Finally we have the Bruce Lee who represents the thoughts experienced when he is in this state.

Now in a moment, but not yet I’m going to ask you to step into that first Bruce Lee, feeling what it is like to have his body; calm certainty, able to react to others with ease. And as you step into that now; you can feel your posture change as your breathing shifts. Touch your thumb and index finger together. That’s right. Be aware of how your breathing flows in the present moment.

That’s right. When you are ready it will be time to step fully into the emotions of the experience. Stepping forward now and feeling the calmness and a certainty as you touch your thumb and middle finger.

What does it feel like when you are in this way?

(…modeler is in trance by this point)

As you pay attention to those emotions you can enjoy the experience as they move through your body in whichever way they do now. In a moment you will step into awareness, carrying the body and emotions, allowing them to direct your attention as you step into and experience Bruce Lee’s awareness.

What is it you are paying attention to? Is it the sounds around you, the changes in my physiology and the movements of others in the room, the space around you, or something else beyond that? You can be certain that with this calm awareness you can see and hear far more than you were consciously aware of before now. Look around and notice how easily your vision takes in the environment around you. There is a softness to the gaze and you are able to see the tiniest movements through your peripheral vision. That’s right. Anchor that by touching your thumb and ring finger.

Finally you can step into the thoughts of Bruce Lee and as you do that now, you can comfortably notice what your inner experience is and what it is you are believing about yourself now. And as you do that, touch your thumb to your little finger. That’s it.

Now let’s do this a little bit faster. We are going to go back to the beginning, that first Bruce Lee, the body. [Coach leads modeler to walk to the side of the path he just walked so he is not going backward through the spatial anchors]

Now step into that first point. Touch your thumb and index fingers together and feel the breathing, the physiology, and the strength of Bruce Lee. I wonder what it’s like to feel that strength now.

Step forward now into those emotions while touching that thumb and middle finger. Allow those emotions to grow, and you can certainly feel good experiencing that calm feeling, as you get ready to step into the awareness now.

And as you touch your thumb and ring finger, you can notice all of those important things in your awareness now. As you experience the body, emotions, and awareness that is calm certainty, now you can step into thoughts. Enjoy that inner experience and all of the beliefs

that come with it. Touching that little finger and thumb.

That’s right. Now when you’re ready you can step out of Bruce Lee being you, completely transformed with your new skills, emotions, attention, and thoughts that lead you to success.

Great job! How was that?

Modeler: Really good!

Coach: Fantastic! Now go ahead and think about the next time and place you will be closing a sale. Do you have any sales meetings planned this week?

Modeler: Yes on Monday.

Coach: Imagine being there now. You can see the prospect and hear the conversation. And when you’re ready, go ahead and press your thumb to the index finger and then fire off each anchor now. That’s right! [modeler’s physiology shifts] And what’s happening now?

Modeler: It feels really good.

Coach: That’s right and you can think of another sales meeting coming up and fire off those anchors again. That’s right, each and every time the experience can become fuller and more certain. In fact, if you were to think of another time and place you may find that the more you do this the easier it becomes to just know there is a sales meeting coming up, and those anchors fire off all on their own. You could look at your calendar and see a meeting scheduled and automatically feel that calm certainty. You could go to the meeting or on a sales call and just set the intention and have those feelings now.
