Exercises

Unit: Extracting Data from CO-PA (Costing-Based) Topic: Defining a CO-PA DataSource

At the conclusion of this exercise, you will be able to create a CO-PA DataSource in the R/3 system replicate this DataSource in a BW system

schedule an initial loading process and a delta update

Company ABC has implemented CO-PA and wants to use this data in the Business Information Warehouse to generate reports to present to

management.

Management requires analyses of gross and net sales figures from the individual sales organizations.

You are responsible for extracting the data from the R/3 system and importing it into BW. To do this, you need to generate the corresponding components in the R/3 system and in the BW system.

Profitability analysis is an integrated component of the R/3 system. All of the data relating to profitability from the other R/3 applications is mapped in CO-PA in accordance with the corresponding underlying business transactions. This allows you to transfer into CO-PA billing document data from SD, cost object costs from CO-PC, and overall costs from overall cost controlling. In CO-PA, you are able to make a complete analysis of all profit-related revenue and costs. To keep things simple, the SAP BW example below shows only a section of the data that is

processed in CO-PA. Using the appropriate settings in BW, you can display the complete data record from CO-PA, including cost object costs and the overall costs.

1-1 To create a DataSource for CO-PA, you have to follow the procedure described in the implementation guide for the SAP OLTP source system.

© SAP AG BW350 5-36 1-1-2 Name your DataSource as follows:

1_CO_PA%CL_%ERK## (where ## is your group number, %CL is a variable for the client, and %ERK is a variable for the operating concern.).

These variables are replaced automatically when you press enter, so your Data Source name will be 1_CO_PA_800_IDEA##.

1-1-3 Set the SAP defaults for the CO-PA DataSource settings by typing

=INIT’

into the command box (transaction code area).

Change all the descriptions (texts) to ## COPA DATA

1-1-4 ‘Company code’ is set as a partitioning characteristic by default.

Field name Enter

Field name for partitioning CCODE (BUKRS)

Select the characteristics and value fields listed below and use the SAP default values in any mandatory fields.

Field name characteristic Description of characteristic CCODE (BUKRS ) Company code

COARE (KOKRS) Controlling area DIVIS (SPART) Division

SLORG (VKORG) Sales organization

Field name value fields Description of value fields

VV010 Revenue

VVIQT Invoiced quantity

VVOQT Order quantity

1-1-5 Check your DataSource.

There must not be any inconsistencies.

1-2 In the next step, you maintain the DataSource that you want to generate, by selecting the selection fields you want to use and the fields you want to hide.

1-2-1 Start the InfoCatalog from the same program by clicking on the InfoCatalog option. This takes you to the maintenance program for the DataSource that you want to generate.

Do not specify any fields as selection fields and do not hide any fields. Save the extract structure.

Do not generate any 12B metadata.

1-3 In the final step, the DataSource is generated in the OLTP system.

1-3-1 Generate the DataSource.

1-3-2 Leave the program where you created the DataSource, and return to the BW Implementation Guide.

1-3-3 Check the status of your DataSource. To do this, branch to the section of the implementation guide in the SAP OLTP source system that is relevant to CO-PA, and display the detailed information on your DataSource.

1-4 Before you transfer the DataSource that you have generated from the OLTP system into the BW system, you have to replicate the DataSource for your source system.

Once the replication is complete, the CO-PA DataSource is recognized by the BW system, and you have to assign an InfoSource to the new DataSource. Activate the communication structure and the transfer rules.

1-4-1 Replicate the DataSource for the CO-PA application component in source system ‘T90CLNT090’.

Check that your 1_CO_PA800IDEA## DataSource appears in the list of DataSources displayed under the CO-PA application component.

1-4-2 Assign an InfoSource to your 1_CO_PA%CL_IDEA## DataSource.

Replicate the DataSource for the CO-PA application component in the T90CLNT090 source system.

1-4-3 Activate the communication structure and the transfer rules. Transfer all the InfoSource fields into the communication structure.

Select the PSA transfer method for the transfer rules. Activate your settings.

© SAP AG BW350 5-38 1-5 In the next step, you upload data to the PSA.

1-5-1 Schedule an InfoPackage ‘GR## Initialization’ for your InfoSource and the T90CLNT090 source system. Use only the PSA as the data target, and initialize the delta method.

1-5-2 Schedule an InfoPackage ‘GR## Delta’ for a delta upload.

Since no relevant documents have been posted in the OLTP system, the delta upload will transfer 0 data records to the BW system.

1-5-3 You are now able to display information on your data-uploading activities.

Go to the section of the implementation guide in the SAP OLTP source system that is relevant to CO-PA, and display the detailed information on your DataSource.
