Haz un censo de tu familia. ¿Cuántos hermanos, tíos, primos tienes?, ¿con cuántos de ellos te identificas?,
¿de quiénes te sientes orgulloso?, ¿cómo es tu rela- ción con tus padres?, ¿qué reglas de tu casa obede- ces?, ¿cuáles no obedeces? Evalúa tu relación con cada miembro y trata de relacionarte con ellos. Para hacerlo más sencillo te invito a hacer tu propio árbol genealógico. Guíate por estos diseños.
Take a census of your family. How many brothers, uncles, cousins do you have? How many of them do you identify with? Who do you feel proud of? How is your relationship with your parents? What rules of your house do you obey? Which ones do you not obey? Evaluate your relationship with each member and try to relate to them. To make it easier, I invite you to make your own family tree. Follow these ex- amples.

¡Tu apellido indica a la familia a la que perte- neces! Debes sentirte contento de ella porque es una bendición de Dios. Tus padres son los líderes que el Señor ha puesto para que te amen, protejan e instruyan; por eso, debes quererlos y obedecerlos. Aprende a vivir en comunidad, respeta las normas de tu casa y siéntete orgulloso de ser parte de tu familia.

Dios le pide a Moisés que haga un censo. En una ocasión Dios le habló a Moisés y le dijo: ––“Quiero que hagas un censo de todas los habitantes que hay en mi pueblo”.Uno de los propósitos del censo era saber cuántos varones estaban disponibles para pertenecer al ejército. También quería que cada familia israelita se agrupara y se colocara en un lugar específico cuando acamparan o se marcharan. Para ayudar en esta tarea, Dios escogió a doce representantes, uno por cada tribu de Israel. Estos “jefes”, eran importantes en la vida familiar.

La organización del censo. Moisés y los hombres que habían sido designados hicieron el censo. Con esos datos pudieron organizar al pueblo. El Señor le indicó a Moisés el orden en que debían estar ubicadas las tribus o familias. Las personas que pertenecían al pueblo de Israel se identificaban con el nombre y la tribu a la que pertenecían y se sentían orgullosos de ella.3
La distribución de las familias. Cada familia tenía que acampar junto a la bandera de su grupo. También se desplegarían los estandartes que representaban la tribu a la cual pertenecían. Los de la tribu de Judá tenían como símbolo un león; los de la tribu de Rubén, una cabeza humana… Moisés y sus ayudantes terminaron el censo y los israelitas se sintieron contentos de poder organizarse como familia.Diseña un logo con tu apellido para identificar a tu familia. Anímate a
reproducirlo y entregarlo a los miembros de tu familia. Una idea divertida
sería que se reúnan para pintar camisetas con ese logo. ¡Manos a la obra!

God asks Moses to take a census. On one occasion, God spoke to Moses and said, “I want you to take a census of all of my people.” One of the purposes of the census was to know how many males were available to be a part of the army. He also wanted each Israeli family to be grouped and placed in a specific place, when they camped and traveled. To help in this task, God chose twelve representatives, one from each tribe of Israel. These “chiefs” were important in the family.2
How the census was organized. Moses, and the men who had been designated, took the census. With that data they could organize the town. The Lord indicated to Moses the order in which the tribes or families were to be located. The people who belonged to the nation of Israel identified with the name and tribe to which they belonged to and were proud of it.3
The distribution of the families. Each family had to camp next to the flag of their group. The banners representing the tribe to which they belonged to would also be displayed. Those of the tribe of Judah had a lion as their symbol; those of the tribe of Ruben, a human head, etc. Moses and his assistants finished the census and the Israelites were happy to be able to organize themselves as a family.Design a logo with your last name in order to identify your family. Go ahead and copy it and give them to the members of your family. A fun idea would be to get together and paint shirts with that logo. Let’s do it!

La promesa de Dios. Los israelitas estaban cerca de entrar a la tierra que Dios les había prometido. Llevaban muchos años viajando en el desierto sin un lugar fijo para vivir, pero ahora, vislumbraban a lo lejos la tierra que pronto sería de ellos. Des- pués de tanto tiempo, deseaban mudarse a su nuevo hogar.2
La pregunta de Moisés. ––Es el momento para hablarles de la voluntad del Señor. ––pensó Moisés–– Ellos deben recordar cuál es el deseo de Dios, así estarán preparados para entrar en Canaán. Moisés comenzó su discurso con una interesante pregunta: “¿Qué pide Dios de ti?”. Anteriormente, Moisés les había hablado de la importancia de obedecer a Dios; pero se quedaron en silencio, ante esta pregunta.3
La respuesta. Moisés siguió hablando: “Dios espera que ustedes teman a su nombre, que lo respeten; que anden en sus caminos, que lo amen, le sirvan con todo su corazón y que obedezcan cada mandamiento que les ha dado. Él los escogió para que sean su pueblo, por eso pide, que quiten de su corazón lo malo y que no sean rebeldes a sus enseñanzas, porque Él está sobre todo y es Dios de dioses y Señor de señores”. Para finalizar su discurso les reiteró que tuvieran temor de Dios, que le sirvieran de corazón y que fueran fieles a Él.Dios amaba a su pueblo y por eso prometió cuidarlo y defenderlo, pero había una con- dición para que se cumpliera: que debían obedecerlo. Si amas a Jesús eres parte del pueblo de Dios, y las palabras de Moisés también son para practicarlas y no olvi- darlas. La pregunta que debes hacerte es:
“¿Qué espera Dios de mí?”.

God’s promise. The Israelites were close to entering the land that God had promised them. They had been traveling through- out the desert for many years without a permanent place to live, but now, they were able to get a glimpse, in the distance, of the land that would soon be theirs. After so much time, they wanted to move to their new home.2
Moses’ question. “It’s time to talk to them about the Lord’s will,” Moses thought, “They must remember what God’s desire is, so they will be prepared to enter Canaan.” Moses began his speech with an interesting question: “What does God ask of you?” Previously, Moses had told them about the importance of obeying God, but they remained silent at this question.3
The answer. Moses continued speaking, “God expects you to fear His name, to respect Him; that you walk in His ways, that you love Him, serve Him with all your heart and obey every commandment that He has given you. He chose you to be His people, so He asks that you take away the evil from your heart and not be rebellious to His teachings, because He is above all and is God of gods and Lord of lords.” To end his speech, he reaffirmed, for them to fear God, that they should serve Him from the heart and be true to Him.God loved His people and that is why He promised to take care of and defend them, but there was a condition in order for that promise to be fulfilled: that they should obey Him. If you love Jesus, you are part of God’s people, and the words of Moses are meant for you to put into practice and not forget them. The question you must ask yourself is:
“What does God expect from me?”
