FROM THE PASTOR:

At the most recent meeting of the parish pastoral council, we reviewed the project to refurbish the kneelers. We have been hearing enthusiastic praise of the new cushions. I can now give a brief financial report on this project.

The total cost of the kneeler replacement was $15,246.00. We received donations of $17,890.00 toward this project. Six percent of that figure, $1,073.00 went to our diocesan assessment, leaving a surplus of $1,571.00. We dedicated the surplus funds to improving our sound system by purchasing and installing a new ambo microphone and DBX compressor, at a cost of $739.00. Thanks again to everyone who contributed toward this special project.

This weekend, we begin our participation in the Bishop's Annual Appeal. Since we will have a new bishop as of May 31, I hope we can all get together and show Bishop Fernandes that our parish supports his mission as leader of our diocese by helping us meet our parish goal of $68,923.73. By now, most of you have received a mailing directly from the diocese about the BAA. We have donation envelopes available in the church and rectory office. You can also make a gift online by visiting https://www.columbuscatholicgiving.org/make- a-gift-now.

During the past three years, we have all benefited from the dedicated priestly ministry of Fr. Kyle Tennant. This has been his first assignment and he has risen to the challenge, including during the unprecedented difficulties of the Covid-19 crisis. Recently, Fr. Tennant was informed that he will be moving to a new assignment on the second Tuesday of July. At a later date, we will organize a proper way to thank him for everything he has done during his period of service here. When Fr. Tennant moves to his new assignment as parochial vicar of St. Cecilia parish in Columbus, we will have the opportunity to meet our new parochial vicar, Fr. Seth Keller, ordained in 2020, who is currently serving at St.

Cecilia. I have had a few conversations with Fr. Keller and I know he will bring many gifts to our community.

Sincerely Yours, in Christ, Fr. Thomas Buffer

PRAYER REQUEST LINE:

For a prayer request for the Prayer Line, please call Dominga at the Parish Office at 740-382-2118 or email [email protected].

BISHOP'S ANNUAL APPEAL BEGINS THIS WEEKEND! – MAY 1

“Living the Joy of the Gospel,” the theme of the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, inspires us, as people of faith, to share joyfully the Good News of Christ to those who most need to feel His love. Works of kindness and assistance, sometimes in the smallest way, can bring about a profound change in a person’s life. Through the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, we have an opportunity to bring about a positive change in the lives of many of God’s people. Through your generosity, you are supporting the various ministries and programs that are vital in spreading His love.

We ask participation at all levels and invite everyone to consider giving the best gift they are able to make. You may use the BAA envelopes or give online at https://www.columbuscatholicgiving.org/make-a-gift-now.

For those unable or not ready to give, we invite you to support the Appeal through your prayers. Thank you for your generosity.

columbuscatholicgiving.org/make-a-gift-now .

For the past two years, the Diocese of Columbus has been working on a strategic planning initiative called Real Presence, Real Future in an attempt to anticipate and meet the future needs of the diocese in view of changing demographics, declining church attendance, and an ongoing shortage of priests. At this stage, a set of proposals called draft models have been publicized. These are a first attempt at defining how parishes might be cared for by the clergy; which parishes are clustered together, how many priests are at each parish, etc. You are invited and strongly encouraged to provide feedback on the draft model for our parish. To do so, please go to https://realpresencerealfuture.org/draft-models- spring-2022/ and view the video containing the draft models for planning area 3-North. You may provide your reflections and reactions in the Feedback Form by clicking the link next to the video. The deadline for feedback is June 30.

Your input is critical in order for the planning committee to assess the viability of the draft model and, if necessary, to determine a more reasonable alternative.
