TEATRO CIRCO PRICE

La principal sede de Inverfest comienza fuerte su programa- ción. El día 14 sus puertas se abrirán para acoger a Quique González que trae bajo el brazo su último trabajo, Sur en el valle, con el que busca nuevos pai- sajes sonoros. Buenos amigos suyos son Los Zigarros (día 15), pura energía, que regresan al Price con su tour ¿Qué demo- nios hago yo aquí?. La maravi- llosa voz de Travis Birds (día 16) hará estremecer al público, que podrá escuchar en directo los temas de su último álbum, La costa de los mosquitos. Tras ella podremos ver a una mujer que lleva 40 años despertando emociones: la cantaora Carmen Linares (día 19), que rendirá ho- menaje a Federico García Lorca, del que interpretará su cancio- nero, Paco de Lucía y Enrique Morente. Una velada impres- cindible que contará con la ex- cepcional colaboración de Joan Manuel Serrat.

Inverfest’s main venue kick starts the festival and the year on the 14th, with a concert by Quique González, who will present his latest project, Sur en el valle, in his pursuit of new soundscapes. And his good friends Los Zigarros return to Circo Price with their vibrant tour ¿Qué demonios hago yo aquí? on the 15th. Travis Birds and her stunning voice will mes- merise the public on the 16th, in a performance of songs from her latest album, La costa de los mosquitos. Next to take to the stage is a woman who has been delighting and captivating her audience for 40 years. On the 19th, Carmen Linares will pay homage to Paco de Lucía, Enrique Morente, and Federico García Lorca, whose songs she will perform. An unforgettable evening in which she’ll be joined by the wonderful Joan Manuel Serrat.

Firefly (día 3), banda de culto del pano- rama de la música independiente, esos dos genios que son Ariel Rot y Kiko Veneno (día 4), León Benavente (día 5), que presenta Era, Valeria Castro (día 6), la gran promesa del folk español, y Shinova (día 6), que cierra el cartel con los temas de su último trabajo, La buena suerte.

El Teatro Circo Price acogerá también el espectáculo poético Yo no quiero ser recuerdo (18 de enero) de Elvira Sastre y dos propuestas para los más pequeños: Amar la libertad (día 16), de Yo soy ratón, y Ser raro no es nada malo (día 23) de Chumi Chuma.

CENTRO DE CULTURA CON- TEMPORÁNEA CONDEDUQUE

La programación del auditorio del an- tiguo cuartel de Conde Duque arranca con la actuación de Ferran Palau (14 de enero) que presenta Parc, su nue- vo trabajo, en el que el easyloving y las canciones de amor suenan de lo más sinceras. Después será el turno de Mon- tañés (día 28), compositor y pianista que nos sorprenderá con Juerga y vino,

On the 20th, Rodrigo Cuevas returns to Madrid, bringing his tour Trópico de Covadonga to a magnificent close. Next M Clan will take to the stage on the 21st in an intimate acoustic concert with just him and his guitar, followed by the bagpiper Carlos Núñez on the 22nd, performing songs from his album A irmandade das estrelas 25 aniver- sario, Nach (23rd) with a fusion of rap and poetry, Galicia’s most international band Luar Na Lubre (25th), and sing- er-songwriter Israel Fernández (26th).

Finally, Maria Arnal i Marcel Bagés (27th) will debut their album Clamor, a mutant pop project which reflects on our infinite capacity for transfor- mation in the context of the crises our planet faces.

The end of the first month of 2022 will see Alice Wonder (28th) perform Que se joda todo lo demás, in addition to Morgan (29th and 30th) and their latest album The River and the Stone, plus Isaac et Nora & Fetén Fetén (30th), who will take us on a journey through Spanish and Latin American folklore.

Marina Heredia (1st) – one of the fig- ures at the forefront of a new gener-

ation of flamenco – will kick off the month of February. She will be followed by Fuel Fandango (2nd), performing Romance, the cult band on the inde- pendent music scene Rufus T. Firefly (3rd), the two geniuses that are Ariel Rot and Kiko Veneno (4th), León Be- navente (5th) presenting Era, Valeria Castro (6th), a promising artist on the Spanish folk scene, and Shinova (6th), who will bring the event to a close with their latest album, La buena suerte.

un disco muy singular, Margari- da Mariño (3 de febrero), con su Cello & Electronics, que conecta su inspiración al alma musical de estilos como la electrónica o el jazz, y James Heather (día 4), un artista diferente cuyo arte bebe tanto de la música electró- nica como del post-rock.

WIZINK CENTER

El WiZink Center, el escenario madrileño que acoge los gran- des conciertos en nuestra ciu- dad, se suma este año al festival con la actuación de dos número uno del panorama nacional. El día 21 llegará Carlos Sadness, que proclama un enérgico Le- vántate y baila en su último tra- bajo, Tropical Jesus, y el 22, Xoel López, que vuelve a Madrid con los temas de Si mi rayo te al- canzara. Con más de 20 años de trayectoria musical, cada disco suyo es un ejercicio de libertad creativa y, a la vez, un capítulo casi biográfico.

También es nuevo en Inverfest el Teatro Infanta Isabel, que inicia su programación con un concier- to de Yoli Saa (11 de enero), joven cantautora gallega que cierra la gira de presentación de su pri-

WIZINK CENTER

Madrid’s venue for large-scale concerts, the WiZink Center, will form part of this year’s festival as the host to two of Spain’s biggest names in music. On the 21st, Carlos Sadness will per- form his latest album Tropical Jesus as part of his vivacious Levántate y baila tour, followed by Xoel López on the 22nd, who returns to Madrid to perform hits from Si mi rayo te alcan- zara. With a musical career of more than 20 years behind him, each of his albums has been an exercise of creative freedom, capturing moments in his life.

Another of Inverfest’s new ven- ues is the Teatro Infanta Isa- bel, with a musical programme kicked off by the young Galician singer-songwriter Yoli Saa per-

forming Magma on 11 January, in the last show of her debut album tour. Also hailing from Galicia is Luis Fercán (12th), performing songs from his latest project Canciones com- pletas desde una casa vacía.

What’s more, singer and trom- bone player Rita Payés will also take to the stage on the 13th, followed by the always sur- prising Pía Tedesco (14th) and Mäbu (14th), who reflects on the passing of time in Un año después. The 15th promises a day jam packed with music, with performances by Los Hermanos Cubero (1pm), Sandra Bernardo (8pm) and Tulsa (11:30pm).

On the 16th, Neuman will per- form their concert Acústico Es- pecial. The same day, the theatre will welcome the cross-border beats of Fetén Fetén. There will also be concerts by Josemi Car- mona and Javier Colina (18th) with thrilling flamenco-jazz;

musician, actor and singer Joan Dausà and pianist and compos- er Clara Peya, both performing on the 19th; the young flamenco singer Kiki Morente (20th), who will present his album El Cante;

Lorena Álvarez (21st) and her popular traditional music;

Los ritmos transfronterizos de Fetén Fetén resonarán el día 16 por todo el teatro, por el que pa- sarán después Josemi Carmona y Javier Colina (día 18), con su emocionante flamenco-jazz, el músico, actor y cantante Joan Dausà (día 19), la pianista y compositora Clara Peya, tam- bién el día 19, el joven cantaor granadino Kiki Morente (día 20), que presenta su álbum El Cante, Lorena Álvarez (día 21) con su música popular y tradicional, Chucho (día 21), con su vibrante Corazón roto y brillante, y Clave- ro (día 22), con su No estoy solo.

Para los últimos días de ene- ro quedan verdaderos platos fuertes. Julia de Castro, ex líder de la banda DE LA PURÍSSIMA, presenta su nuevo trabajo, La historiadora, el día 22, fe- cha en la que también actúa Abraham Boba, que promete sorprender con su espectácu- lo audiovisual Esto no es una canción. El día 23 la cantante, compositora y violinista Sharon Corr, integrante del legendario grupo irlandés The Corrs, recala en Madrid para presentar The Fool & The Scorpion. Cierra la programación el día 23 la can- tautora Carmen Boza.

El Teatro Infanta Isabel nos es- pera estos días con toda una novedad: la primera edición del Inverfest Comedy, presentado por la divertidísima Eva Hache, con la participación de Valeria Ros y Sara Escudero el día 12 y de Txabi Franquesa y Miki Dkai el día 20.

LA RIVIERA

El grupo emergente con más ti- rón del momento, Stay Homas, vuelve a Madrid en el marco de su gira Agua. Con ellos comien- za, el día 7, la programación que ha preparado la sala La Riviera, por donde pasarán también el que fuera alma y voz de elbi- cho, Miguel Campello (día 8), Yung Beef (día 9), el artista más carismático del trap en España, esa banda tan imprevisible que es Triángulo de Amor Bizarro (día 13), los madrileños Toun- dra (día 15), con su nuevo ál- bum Hex, Pedro Pastor (día 19), líder de una nueva generación de cantautores, y la banda de pop psicodélico Los Estanques (día 20).

Los Punsetes, referente de la escena independiente de Madrid, actuarán el día 22.

El 23 será el turno de Masto- donte, dúo formado por Atsier Etxeandia y Enrico Bárbaro que

Saving the best until last, the end of January will welcome some of the biggest names to this year’s festival. Julia de Cas- tro, former front woman of DE LA PURÍSSIMA, will perform her newest project La historiadora on the 22nd, alongside Abraham Boba who promises to surprise us all with the audiovisual con- cert Esto no es una canción. LA RIVIERA

Hot on the contemporary scene is the promising band Stay Homas, who return to Madrid as part of their tour Agua. Their show on the 7th will get things going at Sala La Riviera. The venue will also host Miguel Campello (8th), the former voice and soul of the group Elbicho, Yung Beef (9th), Spain’s most charismatic trap artist, the highly unpredictable Triángulo de Amor Bizarro (13th), the Madrid-born Toundra (15th) with their new album Hex, Pedro Pastor (19th), at the forefront of a new generation of singer-song- writers, and the psychedelic pop band Los Estanques (20th).

Vermú Experience. Cierran el cartel en La Riviera Rock con Ñ (día 27), banda que rescata los himnos rockeros de los 80, y el dúo Técanela (día 28), tan optimista siempre. El día 30 habrá fiesta: la Winter Swing Party II con muy buena música en directo.

Y ADEMÁS…

Inverfest no termina aquí. Otras emblemáticas salas de la músi- ca en directo en Madrid, como son El Sol, Mon Live, Gruta 77, Siroco y Vesta se suman al festival con muy buenos con- ciertos. La Bien Querida el día 21 y Salvador Sobral, el día 22, ambos en el Teatro Mira Pozue- lo, son otras de las propuestas musicales que encontramos en la Comunidad de Madrid, abierta este año a esta gran cita que pone la banda sonora al invierno.

Inverfest doesn’t end here. A range of other live music venues in the city will also take part in this year’s festival, with El Sol, Mon Live, Gruta 77, Siroco, Ves- ta, and more staging unmiss- able concerts. La Bien Queri- da (21st) and Salvador Sobral (22nd) at the Teatro Mira Pozue- lo are just two other concerts the Community of Madrid will welcome as part of this huge musical event, the soundtrack to the capital’s winter months.

The “floating world” of ukiyo-e has touched down in Madrid courtesy of one of the world’s most prestigious collections. The show displays ar- mour, kimonos, fans and photographs to provide a complete overview of Japanese life from the Edo period to the 20th century.

La muestra propone un reco- rrido que activa la capacidad de sorpresa: cómo sería aden- trarse en el cerebro del direc- tor y descubrir las claves de su obra cinematográfica. A través de más de 600 ítems (material audiovisual, fotografías, atrezo, cámaras, maquetas, objetivos, guiones, ilustraciones, story- boards, cartas, claquetas...) se van desglosando los temas de sus películas, así como los as- pectos formales de su filmogra- fía. En la exposición podemos ver desde su silla de director al disfraz de simio o la impresio- nante maqueta del Discovery de 2001: Una odisea del espacio hasta la máquina de escribir y los vestidos de las inquietan- tes gemelas de El resplandor, pasando por el vestuario y la icónica mesa del Korova Milk Bar de La naranja mecánica.

This exhibition offers an over- view that draws on the element of surprise, providing a glimpse of what it would be like to wan- der through the director’s mind and discover the key elements of his films. A selection of over 600 items (including audiovi- sual material, photographs, props, cameras, models, lens- es, scripts, illustrations, sto- ryboards, letters and clapper- boards) break his movies down into general thematic focuses and dissect the formal aspects of his work. Exhibits range from the director’s chair to the im- pressive model of Discovery and ape costume from 2001:

A Space Odyssey to the type- writer and the dresses worn by the creepy twins in The Shining to the costumes and the iconic table from Korova Milk Bar in A Clockwork Orange.
