Dear brothers and sisters,

This Sunday we are celebrating Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. The first reading is from the Book of Daniel who bridges the entire 70 years of the Babylonian captivity (605- 536 B .C). He was God mouthpiece to the Gentile and Jewish world, declaring God ‘current and future plans. What Revelation is for New Testament prophetically and apocalyptically, Daniel is to the Old Testament. The Messiah, which means Christ, often designated Himself as the Son of Man (Matt 16:27, 19:28, and 26:64). The clouds of heavens are seen again in Rev. 1:7. Here He is distinct from the Ancient of Days or Eternal One, the Father, who will coronate Him for the kingdom (Daniel 2, 44) All peoples, nations, and languages. These distinctions are earthly and speak of the promise of an earthly kingdom, ruled by Christ that merges into the eternal kingdom. The second reading is from the Book of (Revelation 1: 5-8) and tells us about Jesus Christ as the faithful witness, and the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. Firstborn means of all who have been or will be raised from the dead, He is the preeminent one, the only one who is the rightful heir (Rev. 3:14; Ps 89:27; Col 1:15). Kings and priests mean all who believe live in the sphere of God’s rule, a kingdom entered by faith in Jesus Christ. And as priests, believers have the right to enter God’s presence. Coming with clouds echoes the promise of Daniel:

the Son of Man will come with the clouds of heaven (Daniel 7:13). God often manifested Himself in an energized, blazing light. No one could see it fully and live (Ex: 20). But when Christ returns, the glory will be completely visible. The Savior’s high priestly prayer unveils the mystery of the inner life (John 17: 1-26). Today’s Gospel from John 18:33-37 shows us Jesus as a defendant in the court. My kingdom is not of this world. By this phrase, Jesus meant that His kingdom is not connected to the earthly political and national entities, nor does it have, nor does it have its origin in the evil world system that is in rebellion against God. If His kingdom was of this world, He would have fought. The kingships of this world preserve themselves by fighting. Messiah’s kingdom does not originate in the efforts of man but with the Son of Man forcefully and decisively conquering sin in the life of His people and someday conquering the evil world system at His second coming when He establishes the earthly form of His kingdom. His kingdom was no threat to the national identity of Israel or the political and military identity of Rome. It exists in the Spiritual dimension until the end of the age. In response to Jesus’ mention of truth in v.37, Pilate responded rhetorically with cynicism, what is the truth? Even he was convinced that no answer existed to the question.

Su reino no era ninguna amenaza para la identidad nacional de Israel o la identidad política y militar de Roma.

Existe en la dimensión espiritual hasta el final de la edad. En respuesta a la mención de Jesús de la verdad en el v.37, Pilato respondió retóricamente con cinismo, ¿qué es la verdad?

Rois et prêtres signifient tous ceux qui croient vivant dans la région de la primauté de Dieu, un Royaume par la foi en Jésus Christ. Et comme les prêtres, les croyants ont le droit d’entrer dans la présence de Dieu. Il vient sur les nuées et fait écho à la promesse de Daniel : le Fils de l’Homme venant sur les nuées du ciel (Daniel 7:13). Dieu se manifeste souvent par une tension, brûlures légères. Personne ne pourrait le voir pleinement et vivre (Ex:20). Mais quand le Christ reviendra, la gloire sera entièrement visible. La Grande prière sacerdotale du Sauveur révèle le mystère de la vie intérieure (Jean 17 : 1- 26). L’Évangile d’aujourd'hui, extrait de saint Jean 18:33-37 nous présente Jésus comme accusé, au tribunal de Ponce Pilate. « Mon royaume n’est pas de ce monde » dit Jésus au procurateur romain. Il veut dire que son Royaume n’est pas connecté à la politique terrestre et des entités nationales, ni a ses origines dans le système du monde mauvais qui est en rébellion avec Dieu. Si son royaume était de ce monde, il aurait combattu. Les règnes ou les pouvoirs de ce monde sont conservés par les luttes fratricides ou combats acharnés. Le Royaume du Messie ne connaît pas les efforts de l’homme qui sont originales mais avec le Fils de l’Homme, avec force et décidément conquérir le péché dans la vie de son peuple et un jour vaincre le mal de système du monde à son second avènement, lorsqu’il a à établir la forme terrestre de son Royaume. Son Royaume n’était pas une menace pour l’identité nationale d’Israël ou de l’identité politique et militaire de Rome. Il existe dans la dimension spirituelle à la fin de l’âge. En réponse à la mention de Jésus de la vérité dans le v.37, Pilate répondit avec rhétorique et cynisme : « qu’est-ce que la vérité ? » Il était même convaincu qu’il n’y avait aucun réponse à cette question.

Even when we have the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, people can’t kneel because there aren’t any kneelers in the pews. So we would like to fix this ASAP with your help. SPANISH ADVENT RETREAT DAY Saturday December 1, 2018: Spanish Advent Retreat Day, from 8:30am to 8:30pm. The Retreat will be concluded with the 7:30pm Mass. It will be an open Day Retreat for all parishioners. All are invited. A donation of $10.00 is requested by each participant to support our pew ‘kneelers’ project.

DECEMBER 7, 2018 will be First Friday of the Month. In this occasion, we will have the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, from 8:30am to 6:45pm, at Saint Joseph Church.
