SIGN UP FOR ADULT SACRAMENTS
We welcome adults 18 and over who are in need of receiving their sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation) to our parish! The process is called Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). It’s a weekly preparation program that will assist you in your faith formation and prepare you for the sacraments to be received at the Easter Vigil. There are some requirements necessary before entering this program. We will offer two information sessions which will answer all your questions! The sessions will take place Sunday, September 18 after the 10 a.m. Mass (English) and after the 11:30 a.m. Mass (Spanish) in the FAITH FORMATION CENTER (87-34 WHITNEY AVENUE) For more information, contact Sr Lucy or Peter Stieglmayr at 718 424-5400x5.

¡Invitamos a los adultos de 18 años o más quienes están necesitando recibir los sacramen-tos de iniciación (Bautizo, Eucaristía y Confirmación) en nuestra parroquia! El proceso se llama Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos (RICA). Es un programa semanal que los prepara en la formación en la fe y los prepara para los sacramentos que se recibían en la Vigilia Pascual. Hay algunos requisitos necesarios antes de participar en este programa. ¡Estaremos ofreciendo dos sesiones informativas durante las cuales le contestamos todas sus preguntas! The 16 pilgrims from St. Barts, who journeyed together for World Youth Day 2016 had the most incredible experience. The group, traveled with 400 pilgrims from the Diocese of Brooklyn, attended daily Mass, and visited Auschwitz, the Salt Mine, the Shrine of St. Faustina of Divine Mercy, and the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, welcomed Pope Francis. Other highlights included attending catechesis with Cardinal Dolan and Cardinal Tagle and of course, the overnight vigil with thousands and thousands of pilgrims, and closing Mass with our Holy Father Pope Francis. Most of all, our group had the opportunity to meet so many young Catholics from around the world, and truly got to experience the Universal Church, and see how strong and alive the Church is!

Los 16 peregrinos de San Bartolomé, que fueron juntos a la JMJ 2016 tuvieron la experiencia más increíble. El grupo, viajó con 400 peregrinos de la diócesis de Brooklyn. Asistieron a las Misas diariamente, visitaron Auschwitz, las Minas de Sal, el Santuario de Santa Faustina de la Divina Misericordia, el Santuario de la Virgen de Czestochowa, y dieron la bienvenida al Papa Francisco. Otros actos destacados incluyeron: asistir a la Catequesis con el Cardenal Dolan, el Cardenal Tagle; la vigilia durante la noche con miles y miles de peregrinosy por supuesto la Misa de clausura con nuestro Santo Padre Francisco. Por encima de todo, nuestro grupo tuvo la oportunidad de conocer a muchos jóvenes católicos de todo el mundo; y verdaderamente fue una experiencia de la Iglesia universal, y así ver qué tan fuerte y viva es la Iglesia!

On Monday, August 15th Bishop Chappetto, Vicar General of the Diocese,
will celebrate the 9 a.m. mass on the feast of the Assumption of Mary.
Following the mass the bishop will dedicate and bless the statue of Mary which will be placed outside the entrance to the chapel. This statue is being dedicated to Fr John Gildea in honor of his 50th Anniversary of priesthood and is our gift and
everlasting tribute to him. The mass will be celebrated in both English and Spanish so that our entire parish may participate. Please make every effort to attend.
Following the mass we will have refreshments in Heafey Hall.
El lunes 15 de agosto el Obispo Chappetto, Vicario General de la Diócesis,
celebrará la Misa a las 9 am en la fiesta de la Asunción de María.
Después de la Misa el obispo dedicará y bendecirá la estatua de María que se colo-cará afuera de la entrada a la capilla. Esta estatua está dedicada al P. John Gildea
en honor a su 50 aniversario de sacerdocio y es nuestro regalo y homenaje eterno a él. La Misa será celebrada en Inglés y Español para que toda nuestra
parroquia pueda participar. Por favor, haga todo lo posible para asistir. Después de la Misa tendremos refrescos en el Heafey Hall.
