“First Friday devotionsȱamong Catholics are related to devotion to the Sacred Heart of Christ. First Friday practices date to the last decades of the 17
thȱcentury, when Jesus appeared toȱSt. Margaret Maryȱand spoke to her of His Sacred Heart. Among the promises Our Lord revealed to St. Margaret Mary, the 12
thȱspecifically referenced practices for Fridays: In the excess of the mercy of my Heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour. Devotion to the Sacred Heart, as given to St. Margaret by Jesus, began to grow in popularity as soon as the saintly woman had died, but was officially recognized 75 years later. Though the devotion dictated to Margaret referred to 9 consecutive first Fridays, it does not need to end there. Many of the Catholic faithful continue to make the First Friday devotion beyond the nine consecutive months.” ȬCatholic News Agencyȱ
First Friday this month will be June 7, 2019. We begin in the Church with Praise and Worship at 6:30 p.m.

Break Open the Tomb
A Prayer from Catholic Relief Services: crs.org Lord of Easter’s Promise
I live in faith of the Resurrection.
But such is the nature of my faith that so much of me remains of entombed.
Break open the tomb.
Where I’ve buried my compassion, break open the tomb.
Where I’ve buried my sense of mercy, break open the tomb.
Where I’ve buried my hunger for justice, break open the tomb.
Where I’ve buried my humility, break open the tomb.
Where I’ve buried my connection to my human family, break open the tomb.
Where I’ve buried my love for my Heavenly father, break open the tomb.
Lord, in you I’ve found a Savior no grave can withstand.
Help me to roll away this stone And find the miracle of new life
And live more fully in your saving grace. Amen
This is the last Sunday of Easter 2019. Next Sunday brings us to Pentecost!

June 8: Sacraments
July 20: Parent Bible and Service Day
Walk through the Liturgy with Bishop Barron and you’ll be trans- formed through insights on this most privileged and intimate encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ. See how the Mass brings us out of the fallen world and into the heavenly realm, how it resonates with a call from God and a response from his people, the Church, and, most importantly, how we are intimately joined with the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus through the Holy Eucharist. The Mass will help you understand
how to fully, consciously, and actively participate in the source and summit of the Christian life.

Due to the bad situation and the interruption of the tourist trade, thousands of families in the Holy Land are in danger of having to leave their homes in search of work. The mission of Holy Land Carvings is to bring and sell the Olive Wood Carvings to the Catholic Churches in the United States to help the Christian families remain in their homes and support their families. These beautiful carvings, such as Nativity Scenes, Cruci(ixes, Rosaries, Statues, Picture of the Last Supper, and several other religious items, will raise the money needed to accomplish this.
