“First Friday devotionsȱamong Catholics are related to devotion to the Sacred Heart of Christ. First Friday practices date to the last decades of the 17

ȱcentury, when Jesus appeared toȱSt. Margaret Maryȱand spoke to her of His Sacred Heart. Among the promises Our Lord revealed to St. Margaret Mary, the 12

ȱspecifically referenced practices for Fridays: In the excess of the mercy of my Heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour. Devotion to the Sacred Heart, as given to St. Margaret by Jesus, began to grow in popularity as soon as the saintly woman had died, but was officially recognized 75 years later. Though the devotion dictated to Margaret referred to 9 consecutive first Fridays, it does not need to end there. Many of the Catholic faithful continue to make the First Friday devotion beyond the nine consecutive months.” ȬCatholic News Agencyȱ

Holy Land Carvings will be in Founders’ Hall next weekend to sell their beautiful carvings. They have come to the United States representing the Christian wood carvers of Bethlehem that rely on the tourism to support their families. Due to the bad situation and the interruption of the tourist trade, thousands of families in the Holy Land are in danger of having to leave their homes in search of work. The mission of Holy Land Carvings is to bring and sell the Olive Wood Carvings to the Catholic Churches in the United States to help the Christian families remain in their homes and support their families. These beautiful carvings, such as Nativity Scenes, Cruci(ixes, Rosaries, Statues, Picture of the Last Supper, and several other religious items, will raise the money needed to accomplish this. Please look over these carvings that are available to you at the weekend of June 8

and help support this selfǦhelp project that enables to keep the Christians present in the Holy Land.  WELCOME GRANTS AVAILABLE AT
