- - - St John Vianney St John Vianney St John Vianney
T his is the Feast of Feasts that ends the Church Year--larger than Christ- mas, Easter, or Pentecost. It is the end-point of creation--the apex of being.
Christ, crowned King turns all back to the Father and so, all is one--no rupture, no divi- sion, no anger or hatred or fear--all is under- stood, and all is at peace. We began in Eden, we end in peaceful unity. The first reading tells of the coronation of David, the physical forerunner of the Christ, the second reading is the cosmic vision for the return of all to unity, and the Gospel reading is taken from the crucifixion--for "crucifixion" is what has characterized life in this physical plane. But the begetting of the violence of vengeance is finished as Christ refuses to damn the one who taunts him, and rather in His calm exte- rior, merely uses words of blessing--blessing probably for both, but understood only by one. So be it. The other will understand soon enough. For God is good and God is faithful.
Let us pray to be men and women of gentle altruism in His stead this week.
- Fr. Bill Axe
El otro comprenderá pron- to.
T oday is the last Sunday of the Liturgical year and we celebrate our King who calls us to salvation and paradise. As we approach the end of the year, we are reminded that our own end will come one day. Let us have the confidence of that criminal we commonly refer to as the “good thief”
and make his request to the Lord our own. And whenever that day comes, we can learn from Jesus how to face it: by extending forgiveness to any who have hurt us, by being compassionate up to our final moment, and by handing over our sprit in trust to our Father in heaven. The king will then surely come, gather us up in his arms, and take us with great joy into the Kingdom.
May your Advent be a time of growth, expectation and joy!!
Have a blessed week, Sr. Karen

Westside Children´s Center
Imagine as you go through your day that the phone is ringing—30+
times today it rings, and when you answer, on the other end of the line is a child asking if you could make space in your family for them. This is what our agency experiences daily. We at Westside Children’s Center are looking for loving, nurturing families interested in opening their homes and hearts to children. The children we serve, from newborns to teens, have been removed from their families due to safety concerns, and need caring environments, relationships and resources that will strengthen them as they grow. www.westsidechildren.org
