Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I would like to share a news with you. I decided to apply for the position of St. Agatha's administrator (a step be-
fore becoming a pastor) upon Sister Karen's completion of her terms in June, 2018. I reached this decision after much prayer, reflection, and consultations with Sister Karen and key leaders of the community.
One of the seminarians I used to teach visited St. Agatha in July, and having observed me in the midst of you, commented,
"You hit the jackpot, didn't you?" I laughed in agreement.
The jackpot was God's grace that led me to St. Agatha; the jackpot was your amazing love and support during the past six months. I am truly grateful to belong to this community where faith is alive and joy is palpable. I step forward in my commit- ment to the pastoral life with you, trusting in our Good Shep- herd's lead and rejoicing in your goodness. I look forward to that life. I thank Sister Karen for showing me its richness.
In the weeks to come, the Personnel Board of the Archdiocese will discern the right match between the parish and the poten- tial shepherds of this parish. Please pray for them, so that they find a right person for you. Please pray for me, so that I re- main open to the will of God, and if it is God's will, I be a Christian with you and pastor for you.
Merry Christmas! The peace and joy of the incarnate Lord be with you.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
Me gustaría compartir una noticia con ustedes. Decidí aplicar para el puesto de administrador de Santa Agatha (un paso antes de con- vertirse en pastor de la iglesia) luego de que la Hermana Karen complete su término en junio del 2018. Llegué a esta decisión des- pués de mucha oración, reflexión y consultarlo con la Hermana Karen y los principales líderes de la comunidad.
Uno de los seminaristas del cual era yo su profesor, visitó Santa Agatha en julio, y después de observarme entre la comunidad de Santa Agatha comentó: ¿"Te has ganado la lotería verdad?" Yo me reí porque estaba de acuerdo. La lotería fue la gracia de Dios que me guio a Santa Agatha; la lotería fue el increíble amor y apoyo de ustedes durante los últimos seis meses. Estoy realmente agradecido de pertenecer a esta comunidad donde la fe está viva y la alegría es palpable. Avanzo en mi compromiso con la vida pastoral con uste- des, confiando en el liderazgo de nuestro Buen Pastor y alegrándo- me en su bondad. Espero con ansias esta vida pastoral. Agradezco a la Hermana Karen por mostrarme su viveza.
En las próximas semanas, la Junta del Personal de la Arquidiócesis discernirá para encontrar la persona correcta tanto para la parro- quia como para los posibles pastores de esta parroquia. Advent reminds us of God's promise to share this everlasting reign with us. All we need to do is reflect on Mary's "yes" and say with her, "May it be done to me according to your word" - then fulfill those words by how we give birth to Jesus each and every day. Our tongues are powerful. They can speak truth or empty promises. Will our actions make clear that we are the servants of the Lord, who live in ways that continue to fulfill God's promises by how we live our faith in Jesus every day?
May your Christmas be filled with joy, happiness, and a living out of your faith through this New Year.

días. Nuestras lenguas son poderosas. Ellos pueden decir la verdad o las promesas vacías. ¿Dejarán en claro nuestras acciones que somos siervos del Señor, que vivimos de maneras que continúan cumpliendo las promesas de Dios por la forma en que vivimos nuestra fe en Jesús todos los días?

Sacramento de Confirmación
Encendiendo el Espíritu Santo Dentro de Ti
St. Agatha ofrecerá un curso de preparación de confir- mación para adultos de cinco meses. Comenzaremos el día 5 de Enero. Este curso esta abierto a:
Cualquier persona que tenga 18 años o más
Bautizado en la Iglesia Católica
Y que ya hizo su Primera Comunión
A través de este proceso aprenderás de la Fe Católica pero lo más importante es que tendrás la oportunidad de experimentar la gracia y la presencia de Dios. Tome el tiempo para orar y ver si Dios lo esta llamando a este Sacramento. Si desea hablar sobre esta gran oportuni- dad, comuníquese con la oficina de Formación de Fe al (323)935-0963 con la Sra. Teresa Amezcua.
La oficina de Formación de Fe estará cerrada del día 17 de Diciembre al 3 de Enero por las fiestas navideñas. Si usted desea registrarse para las clases de Confirmación de adultos, por favor pase a la Oficina de la Parroquia. O también puede usted registrarse el primer día de clases.
Sacrament of Confirmation Igniting the Holy Spirit Within You
St. Agatha’s is offering a five month Adult Confirmation Preparation Course. We start classes on January 6th.
This course is open to:
Anyone who is 18 years or older
Baptized in the Catholic Church
Anyone that has already received their First Com- munion
Through this process you learn about the Catholic Faith but more importantly you get an opportunity to experi- ence God’s grace and presence. Take the time to pray to see if God is calling you to this Sacrament. If you wish to discuss this great opportunity please contact the Faith Formation Office at (323) 935-0963 or Natalie Roberts at (925)818-6816.
The Faith Formation office will be closed from De- cember 17 to January 3 for the Christmas holi- days. If you wish to register for adult Confirmation classes, please go to the Parish Office. Or you can also register the first day of classes.
