DAY OF THE DEAD

November 1 and 2 are the days devoted to honor All Saints Day and the celebration of the Day of the Dead. It is a time of remembrance where the living relate to their dead in direct and familiar ways. We will be celebrating this tradition and we invite you to join us.

Please submit a 3” x 5” picture of your loved one and a candle. Place your name and phone number on the reverse side. Masses during the liturgy we will light the Candles.

Responding to Domestic Violence in Our Community -On Saturday and Sunday, November 5 and 6, Fr. Charles W. Dahm, O.P, Director of Domestic Violence Outreach for the Archdiocese of Chicago, will preach at all the Masses at St. Nicolas. Although largely unseen, domestic violence is rampant in the United States, including in our community. Calls about domestic violence are the most frequent received by local police in our community. On Tuesday, November 8, Fr. Dahm will meet at 7:00 pm Rectory with those parishioners interested in learning more about domestic violence and/or helping our parish respond to the needs of victims in our community as sensitively and compassionately as we can.

Respondiendo ala Violencia Doméstica en la Comunidad El sábado y el domingo, 5 y 6 de noviembre, el Padre Carlos Dahm, O.P., Director de la Promoción de Servicios para Víctimas de Violencia Doméstica para la Arquidiócesis de Chicago, predicará en las misas en San Nicolás. Aunque la violencia doméstica esté mayormente escondida, el problema es enorme en los Estados Unidos, incluyendo a nuestra comunidad. Las llamadas sobre violencia doméstica son las más frecuentes que reciben la policía en nuestra comunidad. El martes, 8 de Noviembre, el Padre Carlos se reunirá a las 7:00pm en la Rectora con los feligreses interesados en aprender más sobre violencia doméstica o en ayudar a nuestra parroquia responder mejor a las necesidades de las víctimas en nuestra comunidad.

Mass of Anointing of the Sick

On November 26, St. Nicholas of Tolentine will offer the Sacrament of the Anointing as part of the 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Masses. All are welcome, especially those who are sick or suffering in anyway, mind, body, or spirit.
